Weird Weather!

We had storms all day yesterday and I stayed off the computer and edited pages I had printed out. Then at 4:30, I got a phone call and on my answering machine: Tornado warning!

So forget about sleeping. And the storms started up again.

That means, I’m really not raring to go like I usually am first thing in the morning. I’ll get there. Maybe. Later. Hopefully.

At least the tornado watch is no longer in effect, like they predicted through 11 am and it stopped raining and I rushed my garbage out!

Can Music Jumpstart Your Muse?

Absolutely! For just about anything, or take you away from the drudgery of what you’re doing, carrying you away to some other fantastical world. But boy can it be jarring too, if it’s not the right music for the job. On the other hand, what works for one, might not work for another.

I pay my neighbor to mow my yard and he was listening to music while he was weedeating. He said he would never do yard work again without listening to it. It carries you away, you see, from that hot, menial task.

You’ve probably watched a movie that has the most beautiful musical score and it carries you right into the world with no problem. And then the worst ever musical score that pulls you right out of the story because it doesn’t suit the mood at all.

 

Storms and sunset and clouds and sunrise.

I had been listening to Halo (game theme music), and Game of Thrones. I listen to a lot of movie scores like Bourne Identity, etc, for the thrill of the chase. But someone was telling me for his work, photo composition, he listens to Youtube game music. And so I found the one he was listening to, and it was beautiful. So I’ve been switching music for background music and it helps me to write.

I’ve been listening to Skyrim because it lasts for 10 hours and I don’t have to keep starting another hour-long song. I write all day, so it helps. It’s relaxing, not great for exercising to though. So when I want something that has more of a beat while I’m editing, I just look at the sidebar and pull up some other song. One that came up was a chilling space kind of music and it had a pretty good beat so I could exercise and read to edit at the same time.

This is the 10-hour long, relaxing music. This is more suitable for mystery, mystics, magic, and otherworldly, rather than driving conflict, like I usually write. But I still love it.

One cover artist mentioned some music that really gets her in the mood for a certain kind of cover. I listened to it and it was the most jarring, bone rattling, chalk screeching music I’ve ever heard. I’d be running for the hills to get away from it. So you have to find the music that works for you!

Sucky Storm…

Had a lovely birthday time, and then look at what a bird did to my tomato! Carved a jack-o’-lantern with its beak! And storms hit last night.

What makes it a sucky storm? Wind, no electricity, more wind, knocked out my computer, branches and bark down, and NO RAIN.

That’s a sucky storm. At least give us some much needed rain to break the heat wave.

*sigh*

Okay, I’m STILL trying to finish the book. I only have a couple of more chapters until I reach “the end” of editing…that is not the end yet. I still need to write THE END. This morning at 3 am, I was lying there thinking about it…. Did I have a light bulb moment? No. Maybe today.

Have a lovely day and hope your storms are the great kind. We’re in hurricane season, and I really, really hope we don’t ever have another Hurricane Harvey. Category 5. Horrible.

Violent Storms…Needed the Rain

Red-breasted grosbeak and white-winged dove and storms.

I spent the morning picking up tree branches in the yard, but nothing was damaged. Most were dead branches from neighbors’ trees. But lightning, thunder, kept me off the internet. I worked on my laptop, had it disconnected from the electricity. The storm would stop and start again. Stop, and start.

We so needed the rain, so that was a good thing. The puppies were in bed most of the day, had a time taking them out in the rain. They haven’t seen it for a while!

Made goal, 10K to go. Also finished Patriotic Patrick Bear and getting him ready to ship!

And a fan spotted my books in Sydney!

Back to the book! We may have storms at the end of the week, but this one was really crazy…coming, not coming, pouring, thundering, stopped like it had gone away, and then would start up again, over and over. We had flood watches, but luckily no tornado watches.

When the Unexpected Happens and Messes up Your Goals…

Daylily, Stormy Weather, Spider Lily, Sunny Sunflower

I was sick, sick, sick yesterday and up all night the night before being sick, ugh. It didn’t work well for my writing. Though I did finish edits on Her Jaguar Protector the night before, and yesterday I managed to get 1/2 of my word count for the day.

Feeling much better today, and hope to catch up on my word count!

Which goes to prove that if you do more than you have scheduled, if you have an unscheduled interruption, you will still be mostly on track. 🙂

On the flowers, I planted the spider lilies this year, and didn’t know how they’d really look. They’re beautiful, exotic. The sunflowers come up from the birdseed. I just let them flower. The bees like them. And I missed taking a picture of a bee that was too cold to move, sitting on a chives flower yesterday morning. I was reading where that’s the best way to take a really good closeup shot. I checked this morning, but no bees. They’re around, but just didn’t find one resting anywhere.

Off to catch up on my writing!!! Have a flower-filled day!

Hopefully, Jose will stay over water and won’t cause too much havoc, though the islands that Irma hit may get more. Katia will be hitting Mexico. My prayers go out to all in the path of the storms.

One of the women in the Neighbors site said that they’ve been without power for 10 days with another 9 days of no power predicted in our area in Texas still. So we really couldn’t afford another hurricane right now. Even ponds haven’t gone down that much, and we had river flood warnings for some area still. I was surprised at that!

Many even in our area are getting estimates for damage repairs, or having contractors come in to repair the damage. One thing that a Katrina victim said was that after money they put into repairing the house after the New Orleans catastrophe, they should have just torn the house down, because they still have issues a decade later.

They’re still not certain where Irma will hit when it makes landfall over the U.S.

I Planned to do What???

Write!

But other things are filling up my day, so I’m still going to write, but I still have to do all these other things!

Wolves howl

Not these things, though I have to take a break, right? The one of the cougar I took as he was walking toward me at the Cameron Park Zoo. I was glad there was glass between us. 🙂

I have to take Tanner in for shots, *sad face*, and after I drop Tanner off at home, I need to ship off books, book marks, some for men and women in uniform Overseas, and a bear for a literacy fundraiser.

Storm clouds are building. It’s mucho hot out already at 7:30 a.m.

When I get home for a second time, I have an interview with a representative of Monmouth University where I earned my MBA.

And then? I HAVE to write. I’m a 1,000 words behind from working on proofing Falcon Fae, so need 3,000 today.

Then my daughter said her friend has a newborn and asked if  I’d take newborn photos. At my house. That meant I had to stop writing last night and clean house. It’s not that bad, but I get behind on dusting and vacuuming.

Soooo, picture taking is later this afternoon.

When I made up my word count goal, I had nothing planned at all. 🙂

But, I’m determined to do it all.

Tomorrow, I take care of baby…so I’ve given myself two days off a week from word count goal–the two days I have her. Then it’s photo days, or teaching and playing days. Cuddling days. I still plan to write some after her momma picks her up though.

So I’m off to finish getting ready to take Tanner in to the vet. It’s already been a whirlwind morning, and now, it just continues–only I’m going to be running out in stormy weather. Hmmm, I might have to ship all that stuff on another day.

It’s pouring! Thundering like crazy.  We needed rain, but….
