The Next Time You’re Reading a Book…

…just imagine all the wonderful tales you can take part in. You see, you could be reading and along comes a shifter wolf, but he didn’t move quick enough and the cougar got the girl.

And so begins my tale.

It’s also a cautionary tale. Whosoever waits can easily lose out. Don’t wait, seize the day.

On a Stormy Day…

Max and Tanner had to help me write. The thunder was right overhead, so they joined me on my lap, but I still had to write. 🙂 <3 I managed 3,000 words even at that!

Shipping St. Patrick’s Day bear and some books to fans today, and just generally running around trying to get things done. It’s time to spring clean.

I went through my closet, and though I’m getting rid of some stuff, I need to get rid of TONS more stuff that I NEVER wear. 🙂

Same with anything else in the house that I don’t use. I need to pare down.

Herb Gardening

I’ve never done herb gardening before, but these did well, lasted through the great freeze, and now the garlic chives are starting to flower. I’ve actually been using the chives on my baked or boiled potatoes since I planted them last spring. The curly parsley too.

The biggest problem I’ve had is over- or under-watering, so if I don’t do that, they’re fine.

I had a bay leaves plant also, but it looks like it bit the dust. It’s actually a large shrub, but half of it died, and now it looks like the rest did also. Still, it might come back.

Several plants died back that normally wouldn’t, but I’ve noticed growth at the base of the plants, so I’ll wait and see. You don’t want to pull them up and start over, if their roots have become established. They’ll do better if you just leave them and let them come back.

Plumbers had “destroyed” a crepe myrtle once, but within a week, it was back up and growing strong. So I have to force myself not to remove plants that are “dead” in the event they really aren’t.

This year, I’m going to try flower seeds. I’ve been pulling weeds and grass out of the planters already, but that’s my problem with growing seeds. Everything looks like weeds to me. 🙂

My daughter planted zinnia from seeds and they were beautiful. Zinnias are annuals, so I picked up some salvia and a butterfly plant seed that are both perennials. Snapdragons are also annuals but I find they often reseed themselves. And some flower the builders planted did also. So I just need to leave things alone and who knows but I might have a garden of flowers already!

St. Patrick’s Day Bear

I just finished one and have to run and ship it today for a newborn, and forgot to take a picture.

I’ve been writing 3,000 words per day on Flight of the White Wolf, so for my break, I had to run into town and get groceries (the fridge was totally bare–and worse, I haven’t had potatoes for a week–that’s the Irish in me talking, and I HAVE to have my potatoes.)

I also went to Old Town Spring for a lunch with ladies, and I wasn’t going to go shopping, I wasn’t. No. Way. *sigh* But I drove all the way down there, and what the heck, I needed to walk all the way back to my car–couldn’t find the cafe, so finally just parked and used my GPS while I was walking. That meant it was a long distance from the car, and a couple of the shops begged me to come and see what they had. I got my exercise in also.

And found darling props for my Easter bears and a bunny. I also found a book for the baby coming up. You use a flashlight to shine through the circles on the page to see what you can see. Wow, what will they think of next?

Okay, garbage is out. I need to get to work on the story, and then it’s time for running to the post office. 🙂 Oh, and I got a bunch of tulips for the backyard, though now I’m hearing you have to dig them up. Say what? But they were only a $1 for a bag of 10, so I’ll see how they do and hopefully be able to take lots of pretty pictures. I still have about 20 to plant.

And that’s it for chatting. Need to get to work writing! I’ve learned that the story absolutely, unequivocally, without doubt, will not write itself.

Footprints in the Sand

Do you see the human prints? The birds are so much more numerous, they left their mark all over the humans’ prints. Or maybe this is one bird’s prints and he’s just going around and around. Nah.

Both His Wild Highland Lass and Vexing the Highlander are now in print! Working still on Loving the White Bear and Galaxy Warrior.

Have to stop on Flight of the White Wolf (over a fourth way done) to finish edits on Night of the Wolf (for the rerelease of Heart of the Wolf, coming in January). Then back to the book due in April!!

When I was preparing to take this shot, mindful that birds have a habit of moving, I thought the blurred fame of the windows on the house on the block way behind my backyard and the side yard of my neighbor’s and across the street from them was really interesting. I could have changed the setting to make it even more blurred, but I really loved the way the house framed the bird and the windows were featured in an artistic way.

Okay, so I spent the day brainstorming Flight of the White Wolf and made a little progress on it. A 1,000 words, I think. The new prologue will change things a bit, and so I’ve got to go through and change it from he’s never met her in ch 1, to he’s met her in the prologue and it wasn’t a really good meeting. Which changes the dynamics completely, in a fun way. I had to add some conflict between them.

I also sent Loving the White Bear in for final proof after finishing minor edits, and it came back with cover text was in the margins, when they didn’t have any trouble with it before. So it’s back to review again.

I’m off to type up notes and hopefully get some word count in today. I am so far behind on it, that I’m going to have to revise my word count goals. 🙁

His Wild Highland Lass and Vexing the Highlander are approved for print version. I looked, but they’re not up on Amazon. Soon, though.

I’m working on Loving the White Bear for print and turned Night of the Wolf over to my beta reader. And I finished the bear for the order. Oh, need to get a picture!

So today, finishing White Bear, sending it in again for final proof, and have the proof to read for Galaxy Warrior too. 🙂 I worked from 5 am to 11 pm on this stuff, but there’s still not enough time in a day to get it all done.

Hope you find time today to love nature! Because it passes us by in a blink of an eye!

Do You Read Print Books?

At the Coastal Magic Reader’s Convention in Daytona Beach, some authors had their novellas in print, so I spent the last two days working on mine.

It is in all the ebook forms also, but it is now in print for my print readers. I’m one, mostly because I look at a screen all day and half the night, and so I like to enjoy print.

His Wild Highland Lass is nearly ready, and I just finished on Vexing the Highlander also.

Next I’ll work on Loving the White Bear and Galaxy Warrior’s proofs. But first, I’m revising a bit of Night of the Wolf before I send it back to my beta reader.
