Fog and Sunrise…and…the Fae

Fog by Terry Spear

Okay, so I’m taking pictures of the fog, right? And like I said before, I figured the colors were muted because of the early morning hour, but then I took a picture of a mossy rock and it was all black and white, and I knew something was wrong. Well, the fae were messing with me!

The settings were changed and so when I reset it to manual, voila! We were no longer in Kansas, but in the Land of Oz! Full color at sunrise on a foggy day on Lake Superior.

In and Out of the Garden

Red petunias in a window flower box, orange devil’s paintbrush, yellow bird’s feet trefoil, blue lupine, pink roses, and wild sunflowers.

The wildflowers and garden flowers are fully in bloom, giving the whole landscape an artist’s painted view.

I wrote a little, but haven’t really had a lot of time. We walked 3.9 miles up and down stairs–176 steps down to the water at Split Rock Lighthouse, but took the long, scenic way around back up.

Off to have more fun! It’s been hot and everyone says I brought the heat here. lol

Wildflowers and Wild Grasses–Beauty Unveiled

Wild blue lupine and a busy bumblebee, birdsfoot trefoil (yellow), wild grasses, and wild daisies. Like an artist’s pallet of beautiful colors.

I was taking pictures of fog this morning and you know how in the dark, color is grayer, not as colorful as in the light, so this morning I was taking pictures of fog and they looked black and white. Then I took a picture of a mossy green rock and guess what? It was black and white. Hmmmmm….

Then I realized my setting had switched to effects. Then I took some colorful fog pictures. I swear the fae are out to get me.

I’m off to shoot more pictures of whatever I can find. I did manage to get 2,000 more on word count! 64K to go! Have a wonderful day!!

Hot and Hotter

I was so busy yesterday organizing, I didn’t get all my word count. Shame on me. what did my dad always say? Get your work done first, before you play. lol But it’s fun writing about Christmas when it’s so hot. A challenge too. I did get up to 13,000; 14,000 was the goal.

But I’m glad I got so much other stuff done too. I will try and get all my word count done today.

My editor sent me a gorgeous, hunky, beautiful, hot, hot, hot, hot cover of the book that will come out next summer: You Had Me at Jaguar. Yum. I wish I could share it, but soon!

See, that’s what authors do. They tease with all kinds of delicious expectation.

I’m off to catch up on writing! Have a wonderfully beautiful day. It’s going to be hot, hot, hot here, which has nothing to do with the cover!

Getting Organized

After organizing a lot of my bear stuff, I finally got around to hanging some stuff up too!! I still need to hang up a mop and broom holder, but I really need to get to word count, and I think I’ll hang the broom holder up when the garage isn’t so hot, like this fall.

I love using space that otherwise wouldn’t be used for anything. The wrapping papers were sitting on the floor of the bedroom closet, but this was a space above the door in the closet that can’t be used for anything, so perfect for a pegboard. I’m used to having an attic where I could stuff things. I don’t now, so I just need to do a better job organizing stuff. I spend WAY too much time looking for things I know I have.

Hope you had a great day! I’ve been struggling with my computer and internet all morning, so though I’ve been up for 5 hours, this is all I have to show for it.

Just think of all the writing I COULD have accomplished. Even so, up to 10K, 70K to go! One little bitty step at a time.

Happy 4th!! & Organizing the Clutter!

Okay, so why didn’t I schedule a day off from writing for the holiday????? I’ll be having a barbecue at my daughter and SIL’s and we’ll watch a movie later this afternoon. Baby will be in the wading pool, so I’ll try and take pictures.

Besides needing to get word count (at 8,000 already!!!–see it adds up when I just sit my patootie down and write), I’ve been majorly overhauling my bear materials’ bins. Moving is a great way to clean out stuff. BUT, it also meant that I was way behind on book deadlines and had more bear orders I was trying to finish up, organize the house, etc, etc, etc, and 2 1/2 years later, I’m finally making some of my dressed bears. Which means constantly searching through big opaque plastic tubs for materials.

Sooooooo, I have been organizing, and organizing, and organizing, and I really love doing that!!! Because now I can really find stuff! Woohoo!!! And I don’t have to buy more stuff, thinking I don’t already have it. Or…I need to order stuff, now realizing I’m getting short on supplies.

Now, before I moved, I had cut out dragon wizard cloaks, top halves, but in the move and shoving everything away in boxes (it was a total nightmare at the very end as I was running out of time), I decided it was time to make up the cloaks and guess what???? Missing cloak halves. Naturally. Some I have the full sets on. Yay! So as I go through and continue to organize, hopefully I’ll find the other pieces!

I finished 3 Steampunk Bears. Flo Featherspoon is sold. Patriotic Patrick was sold. He’s my 4th of July Bear! The other two are $69 each. Each is completely unique and comes with a working miniature pocket watch.

Okay, off to write and organize. It’s pouring out. Yay! We so needed the rain.

Teddy Bears and Real Bears and Soliciting Fan’s Help…

Teddy Bears–Steampunk Bear and Pink Rainbow and Sherbet Bears and real black bears.

Notice the black bear’s fur outside of the fence? Who wants to pet the nice bear?

I’d stick to cuddling the teddy bears, if it were me.

Okay, I’m off to write!! I have two more Steampunk Bears to make. Maybe get one more done today.

Oh, and I love asking my fans what they want in a story, but this time it backfired on me. Keep Chrissy the ghost at the Victorian hotel, or give her peace. Half and half. Okay….then that means I have to break the tie. What am I saying??? Chrissy will have to decide. What am I thinking anyway? That I decide everything for the characters in the story? They have minds of their own.

Best Laid Plans…

These little bears are off to their new homes today.

I’m shipping 8 bears now, and I have to jump on my writing as soon as I get home because my daughter asked if I’d pick up the baby at daycare as she won’t be getting out in time from work.  Sooo, it’s already been a really hectic day after spending an hour on the phone with the IRS.

The babysitting is unscheduled, which means this afternoon I won’t get anything done.

I’ve been doing better at writing first thing in the morning and then working on bears. I have 4,000 words on the story and counting. My dad always said to get your work done first before you play (for us, that meant schoolwork), and it really is a good work ethic. I feel better doing the writing first, and then if I have time, I’ll get back to writing. I haven’t had time with all the bear orders though! But once they slow down, I’ll have time to write more in the afternoon.

Off to ship bears!! Have a fun-filled day!!!
