Morning Pictures–and the feel of the Paranormal

I “finished” writing A Silver Wolf Christmas, which means I’m still working on revisions, but it’s done! And so I worked on bears, still have about 20 to go but here is a picture of the 9 headless bears! They’re stuffed, and some of the arms and legs are closed. I’ll finish closing the seams on the legs and arms tonight, and sew up the heads. 🙂

To go along with headless bears and the look of Halloween, the paranormal, etc., here is a picture of the full moon this morning!

And if that wasn’t enough, my chewed up pistachio, but it’s kind of hard to show that the grasshoppers are devouring it.

And a really cool picture of a spiderweb, perfect for that Halloween look.

And I started re-reading Call of the Cougar, so hopefully I can finish writing that in the next couple of weeks and edit it too.

Off to ship bears!

Have a super great, wait, got to get the garbage out Wednesday!

Pumpkins for the Clouded Leopard

clouded leopard watching (800x608)

I’ve never seen a clouded leopard in person before. So this was fun for me. But also, the two they had at the Houston Zoo, both had their own pumpkins. The other cat hid his before I could get a picture of him, pumpkin in mouth, leaping to an upper platform.

2 clouded leopards (800x341)

They’re kind of strange looking, compared to a regular leopard, but interesting too.  Tomorrow, I’ll share about the two leopards in the next exhibit, only they were fighting. 🙂

Interesting Doors…

Weird things fascinate me. These doors were in Savannah, Georgia. I was having a discussion about doors with my daughter yesterday, and she was telling me that they put temporary doors on the homes they’re constructing because thieves steal the doors. Huh? Who would have ever thought it.

Okay, so maybe doors are more of a precious commodity than I thought. But unique doors fascinate me.

AAD Conference, 2013, Savannah 135 (533x800)
This one was at the Cotton Exchange.
Cotton Exchange (533x800)

And these were taken in Salado, Texas. These doors might look like ordinary doors, but they were only about 5 feet tall, if that? Little tiny doors. And very narrow.

I found it fascinating on the doors of this period in all of the old houses redone as shops and how many of them had windows above.

Back to writing! Reached 55,000 last night, but still 5,000 short for the week on A Highland Wolf Christmas. *sigh* With the holidays coming up, I’m running out of time! But I remind myself when I started this venture, I had Chapter 1 written. As in the heading: Chapter 1. Not the whole chapter. So 25,000 to go! Much better than 25,000 done and 55,000 to go!

Oh, and while I was talking to my daughter about Halloween and how some have over a 1,000 trick-or-treaters at their door–wow, she was telling me how she had one girl show up in a bra and panties–about 14. Who let her out of the house dressed like that???

Have a super Sunday!!!

Halloween Digital Scrapbooking

Deborah shared this really cool picture she created with digital scrapbooking with me on Facebook, and I asked if she would like to share it on my blog. Isn’t it great??? I had never heard of such a thing, but it looks like lots of fun. So if you have any interest in it, there is a link for the group she belongs to and you can find out all kinds of ways to create your own digital scrapbooks!!!

I’m a member of Daisy Trail Scrapbooking http://www.daisytrail.com/   and did this image, just for fun. I enlarged the leaves around the edge of the image, as I wanted it to appear as though we were peeking in upon the scene. Everything I have used in the image is free and was found on the internet. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much to Deborah for sharing this with us. I probably won’t have time to do anything like this, but it sure would be fun. 🙂

Vampires on the Rise

Even vampire bears! All my stories have humor in them, vampire romantic suspense included. So why not a vampire with a fancy coffin, just for Halloween?

Not that my vampires ever sleep in coffins, mind you. They are not the undead. I leave that to zombies, which are not in my stories. They have heartbeats, eat and drink (a little blood too), and have hot bodies. I just couldn’t imagine a non-vampire getting hot for a cold dead thing, so my vampires are living, breathing humans that were changed by the Black Plague, just as some humans were who became hunters of the vampires. They have the same strength, but not the bloodlust.

In any event, the playing field is well-matched that way.

Speaking of bloodsuckers, one was trying to bite me the other night. A bloodthirsty female mosquito. I was trying to write on Guthrie’s story, and she landed on my wrist to take a sip. My vampire hunting genes took hold, and I tried to kill her. I think I missed. But she didn’t come back for another slurp. *sigh*

I guess my hunter skills are a little rusty. Need to work on that.

Than I was outside watering and ran into him! Never seen one here before. Just the little tiny lizards that run all over my house. Inside and out. This is a Texas spiny lizard. Okay, so I have lizards on the brain. Right? I’ve had them crawl up my pants leg when I’ve been writing, scurry across my feet, just all kinds of things.
huge lizard 004 (551x800)

So I’ve settled down to write after I finish watering and I’m working away, it’s getting late and something crawls up my leg. Natural reaction: brush it off and then look to see what it was. Cricket maybe? Been finding a bunch of them in the house–dead. Good.

But I’m thinking one of the little lizards. It’s getting really late and need to go to bed. So shut things down and start walking to the bedroom and feel something rough between the sole of my foot and my flipflop. I kick it off and off runs a scorpion. Now deceased.scorpion 003 (800x780)

I can’t believe he crawled up my leg, I brushed him off AND he somehow got between my foot and my flipflop as I was walking and I DIDN’T get stung. When I lived in Oklahoma, I was stung a number of times. HATE those things.

They are way scarier than vampires.

Okay, I am EVERYWHERE today with giveaways:

Mixing and Matching Halloween with Non-Halloween Decorations

Halloween figures and red sky1 copy (800x631)

I had a black and white cat for nearly 17 years and so my mother gave me lots of adorable miniature artist designed black and white cats and pandas. The one kitty cat was so upset when the ghost said, “Boo!” that she fainted dead away.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. But with their jack-o-lanterns and the witch’s lantern (which happens to be a lantern that goes to a Christmas light string), lol, so see? …it’s perfect to mix and match with decorations and still give them that Halloween feel.  I’m all set!

Do you decorate for Halloween?

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween from Wilde and Woolly Bears copy (800x406)

I know it’s early but, I like to do some things early!!! I want you to know I worked a long time to do this. 🙂  Just for you. The growly pumpkin was made by my dad and painted by my mother. I made the wizard bear, and no it’s not a build a bear. Unless you consider building it from scratch. 🙂

But I hope you like it as much as I had fun creating it! Happy Halloween, early!!

Fog is Halloween

If I don’t have to go anywhere, I love fog.

It reminds me of “The Fog.” Or any other creepy foggy story where who knows what lurks in it.

It reminds me of Halloween.

pine tree and fog (800x533)fog (800x533)dense fog (800x533)

It usually means the heat is mixing with a cold front for our area, and that’s even better. This fog was even thicker earlier and I finally remembered to take my  camera out and take a picture of it. 🙂

What about you? Do you like fog if you don’t have to drive in it?

Spider Deviled Eggs???

Spider eggs (800x533)

You thought I skipped Halloween, didn’t you? With releasing A SEAL Wolf Christmas early!!!

But I love all things that go bump in the night.

So here is a fun and easy treat to make for that Halloween night of spooky movies. Black olives cut up to look like spiders on deviled eggs! And then you can curl up with a nice Vampire romance. 🙂
