Roses and Milkweed Silk and Seeds

We will still have lots of cold weather: these are pictures of roses after the hard freeze, and milkweed silk and seeds ready to scatter to produce new milkweed plants for the monarch butterflies. I need to cut the red roses back, but every time I think they’ve lost their flowers enough to do so, I see a whole new crop of buds getting ready to open.

Spring is on its way! Some day. But truly, I’m enjoying the cold for a little while longer!

I had grand plans to finish editing 3 books yesterday. Well, I finished two, made the changes, and uploaded them again for final proofs. Three are available for sale. One more is waiting on final proof. Five are waiting for me to make changes. And today, baby will be here. Soooooo… I will be lucky if I can finish the book I started yesterday.

But still, that’s steady progress. I spoke to my editor yesterday, and she said that the acquisitions’ board meets on Thursday, so we’ll see after that if the next 3 books sold. They’re for 2019. This years’ titles are already written.

Off to get ready for baby and try to proof Dragon Fae today. 🙂 Hope your spring is on its way too!

Butterflies and Flowers…

Monarchs were all over the gardens at the arboretum, and then not sure what this other is, but caught it at the wetlands. 🙂

Had a ball at the Buns and Roses Tea and all the other great things we did–Big Cat reserve, wetlands, book signing the night before, Dallas zoo, Fort Worth zoo, arboretum, and today is grandbaby day, but after that….it’s back to writing.

Flowers in Macro

Milkweed and a red daylily.

Writing and taking pictures for me is a daily have to. I feel dissatisfied if I haven’t done some of both. 🙂

Here I was trying for some fun angles with macro.

But now it’s time to write!!! It’s sooooo hot out. Took out garbage at 5 am and it was already horrible. *sigh* And we have more weeks of it too. But I see where it will dip down to 89 one day, MAYBE. 97, 98 otherwise.

And I’m trying to write about snow at Christmastime!

Seeds to Make New Babies…

Seeds from the Blanket Flower and the milkweed (that feeds Monarch butterflies and other butterflies)

And their flowers.

And this is like birthing a baby.

What color are the flowers of this unknown crepe myrtle? White? Light Pink? It’s like Christmas, and I can’t wait to see what’s inside the package. The other I bought in the store and it’s a Purple Magic crepe myrtle. 🙂 <3

I’m not big into white flowers, but if it helps to block my view of my neighbor’s two-story windows behind me, it’s a good thing. The Purple Magic doesn’t get that tall–6-10′. Whereas other varieties will get from 15-20′. The way this other is growing so fast, I think it’s a taller variety.

Most of these were macro shots, except the one of the blanket flower. Every time I went outside to pull weeds, I’d see the blanket flower fluffy seed ball and wanted to take pictures. And then I saw the milkweed seeds and switched to the macro lens. Birds will use the fluff from the milkweed seed for nests, and humans have used the fluff to fill life jackets. Cool, eh? For me, they make fascinating pictures.

Oh, and speaking of babies, Happy Father’s Day for all those great daddies out there!

The bluebonnets are gone, but the Indian Blanket/Firestorm is out in full force, and I caught this milkweed that I thought was pretty with my macro lenses. Who says weeds can’t be pretty?

Back to Her Highland Hero. Need to finish it up so I can work on the Highland novella for an anthology I’m working with 4 other authors on! 🙂 If I don’t keep working on it, I’m bound to get edits in on the other books again and lose my place. LOL And have to start all over again. 🙂
