Buchanan Clan Bear–Sold!

Buchanan Clan Bear (640x582)Here is Buchanan Clan Bear and he’ll be off to his new home soon. He’s wearing the ancient plaid of the Buchanan. Working on Armstrong Clan Bear today and a Navy bear. I still have a stack of orders to get done. I’ve ordered tartan fabric for two more bears, blue fabric for 2 more, and another wants purple. 🙂 Plus more. 🙂  Wilde & Woolly Bears

I only got 1,000 done on Call of the Cougar yesterday, but finished two Buchanan Clan bears, and am halfway done on an Armstrong Clan bear. 🙂 I hope to get 2,000 done on Cougar today. I had an idea of the near end scene, but still 17,000 or so words to get there. I might just write the scene and then go back in and write the rest of the story to get there. Sometimes I have to do that because a scene will come to me that isn’t in the perfect linear order. I actually was sewing up bonnets for the three clan bears when it came to me. I had to stop what I was doing, and write them down. Or I’d forget it!

Thanks, Åsa Maria Bradley, for sharing this photo! Love it!!! This way it’s not just my word we ACTUALLY rode “home” in it. Had fun with you and Cheryl Brooks and Mia Marlowe Connie Mason! Cheryl is to the left of me. And I’m the one who is all smiles. 🙂  <3 Having a ball.

But I’ve also been trying to come up with the plots for 3 more stories, and have one for a jaguar Christmas story, and just about have one for another SEAL wolf story, and then need to write another Silver wolf one.

Aloha On My Mind–Kim took a picture of several of us signing, which was really nice because I can’t take pictures of me and I never think to ask anyone! This is for Literacy and raised $53,000!

And another 5 star review!!!

HeroOfAHighlandWolf

I give this book 5 stars.

Well done, once again Terry Spear you have given us a book that kept me engrossed from the start to the finish, so much so that I read this book in one day. This is about an American woman that inherits a castle in Scotland from her family and a pack of Highland wolf shifters that live there.

And I’m here with an interview at Authors Interviews!

Watermelon crepe myrtle in full bloom.

crepe myrtle volunteers (640x402)

Two crepe myrtle volunteers in between the big ones. Everything is looking so colorful!

brown cornfields and crepe myrtles (640x427)

A view of the crepe myrtles, storm clouds, that didn’t rain, but at least made it cooler, and the cornfields, ready to be harvested. It sounded like the wind blowing through a forest the other day, or ocean waves, the way the wind blew through the dry cornstalks.

Off to get ready for the writing and bear-making day!

Have a super lovely day! It was only 87 yesterday, and it was beautiful. Supposed to be 100 or close to it most of next week. 🙁

Bears, Bears, and Books, Oh My!!!

burgundy bear (640x547)

This is one of my bears that just sold to a fan, but I’ll have to change her paws so she has embroidered names on them instead. She’s a mauve mohair bear and she is going to another planet. Or, at least the buyer is making her a contest win for a fan, and the bear will represent the hero and heroine in her scifi romance. Cool, eh?

Wilde & Woolly Bears

MacNeill Bear (636x640)

This one is a brand new bear I just made up for a MacNeill Clan order.

So I had 11 orders, down to 10, up to 12, and more coming in. LOL

I have been writing on Call of the Cougar, slow going because I’m revising and when I do that, it means taking out (hate having to do that) and adding in (loving doing that), and started working on A Silver Wolf Christmas. Now you might think I should just finish one project and then get on with the next. But A Silver Wolf Christmas is due Nov 1, so I need to get to writing it.

And I just unpacked, but have to repack again.

Note to self: Do NOT overbook on conferences next year.

I have to keep reminding myself of this. Because I keep getting invited to go to a million different ones, and I can’t say the magic word: No.

But I’m really trying hard to.

And, I’m still trying to come up with a 3 book pitch. I have one for Jaguar Jingle Bells ( working title). But need another Silver wolf book, and another SEAL wolf book. So not sure on those.

And that’s it. Oh, except for the humongous blog tour for A Hero of a Highland Wolf!

I’m at Stomp Vs Romp, and I’m on Team Romp–of course, and I’ll be at the FB party all day, and I’ll be at Casablanca Authors, need to prepost for that day, and I’ll be at conference, and the book will be out that day–August 5th!

So you see why I need to really work on this overbooking problem I have.

I wonder if there’s an Overbooking Anonymous.

Have you ever had that problem too?

🙂 <3

Have a super great day!!!

After Writing a Book, What’s Next? Making a Bear!

Josie Confetti Bear (640x512)

Wilde & Woolly Bears

Thanks to Bonnie for her order. I only have 3 of the confetti bears left. The fabric has been discontinued at the factory, though it’s been really popular for me and it’s a shame because it’s so different, there’s nothing like it out there. It reminds me of peppermint ice cream.

When I was at an arts and crafts show one time with my bears on display, a lady asked if I used markers on her. Nope. It’s permanently dyed that way at the factory. 🙂

I had another ask if I made the bears. Yes. I did. Then she asked where I bought the bear heads. Hmmmm. I…make them.

She asked again, “No, where do you buy them?”

I…MAKE…THEM.

I don’t think she believed me. 🙂  I usually would sit and embroider paws for orders while I was at a show. So some thought that I bought the bears and “fixed” them up. This was way before build a bear existed.

Isn’t she cute?

Okay, enough goofing off. Today I have to get to all the guest blogs and interviews that have accumulated, and then???

It’s off to another book adventure.

Highlanders. Vikings. Big swords. The Viking Highland’s Lass. Are you ready???

Aye!

Really Bizarre and Totally Fascinating

At least to me.

I’m usually fairly observant about things around me. So yesterday when I was taking photographs of birds being birds, I suddenly saw the tree in front of me. Not the birds. Not anything else, but the tree. It had character. Age spots. Old moss, new moss, it was beautiful. More interesting at that moment than anything else in the world.

I wondered why I  hadn’t noticed it before. How could I have missed it? It’s big as day standing right in front of the window! Well, I did what I usually do when I find something fun and interesting, I took pictures, still not believing I hadn’t seen it before.

Have you seen Limitless? It’s violent, but it has an interesting premise–that a chemical substance can tap into all those unused brain cells of ours and make us see more clearly. The man whose story is being told is an unpublished writer who has an advance to write a book (remember I mentioned fantasy??? And how sometimes we just have to go with the story???) and he’s not written a single word and can’t. This had been going on for months. With this pill, he suddenly has the clarity to write the book in four days. And it’s brilliant. Well, it’s a dark story, but I felt like him yesterday, looking at that tree and wondering why I had never seen the beauty of it.

moss and cardinals 005 (640x427)

I just want you to know it has NOTHING to do with me. Today when I went to get my cup of green tea, it is a gray tree, nothing more.  I need another one of those pills!

In reality, what happened? Somehow the sun and the moon and the shadows and nature revealed the beauty of that tree, and then, the combination of these things went away. And now it looks like it usually does. Nondescript and the birds have all the attention again.

So if something like that catches your eye, and you think how utterly bizarre that you hadn’t noticed it before, capture it, because it may never happen again. 🙂

More Bear Orders!

Photo: Kimmi Wakefield, are you ready for Christmas??? <3 :) I just finished these two bears for another bear order and have 3 more to do. 🙂  Waiting on a baby’s birth date for one, working on a cowgirl bear for another, and a Penny bear that was featured in the last post for the other.

But the good news is I’m back to working on Jaguar Pride–up to 3,000 words now. 77,000 to go! 🙂

Have a great Thursday!!

Bears are Taking Over

It’s freezing out! Literally! 23 degrees with a chill factor of 10. So I’m inside, just finished up three bear orders, one for an author, Cora Blu, and two for newborn personalized baby gifts–all made in Texas.Years ago, I was at a craft show selling my bears and a lady asked if I bought them somewhere. I said no, that I made them from scratch.

“Well,” she said, “where did you buy the heads?”

“Well, you see there’s this arms dealer–who sometimes sells bodies, legs, and if I’m really lucky, heads,” I wanted to say. But of course, I said, again, “I make them from scratch. I buy the material, and make them from… scratch.” What else could I say? She didn’t look convinced. I do have a lot of headless bears in a plastic container right now. Some without legs, just the bodies and arms connected, some just without heads. But that’s because it’s the hardest to get right, so I often leave them to last to sew up. 🙂  That’s the bear pictured in the middle. Lots of little light brown headless, and some legless, bears right now. 🙂

My bears are all done for Christmas!

Now with the heater cranked up, it’s time to get back to A Hero of a Highland Wolf and reread it again.

And of course, now I have TWO audiobooks to approve! Things keep stacking up.

I finished rereading A Highland Wolf Christmas, so once Dottie sends me the edits and I can go back over it another time, I can turn it in.

And then? It’s back to Jaguar Pride! I have 1000 words written on it. 🙂

So not going anywhere until the deep freeze goes away. Good thing I don’t live in a really cold place or I’d have to suck it up and get used to it. LOL Waving at Donna! Have a lovely Saturday! Just doing blogs and then it’s off to read A Hero of a Highland Wolf one last time.
