I’m in a Fog

fog 004 (800x533)

Literally, in the fog. I love fog. It reminds me of The Fog by Stephen King. And spooky stuff. Vampires, and things that go bump in the night. I’m writing about being in the Costa Rican rainforest right now, hot, muggy, buggy, but if I wasn’t, I’d slip into one of my vampire novels instead. šŸ™‚

See what happens when I have a window to look out while I’m writing? I have fog on the brain. Literally.

My writing is really clear. At least, I think it is. Over halfway done with writing Jaguar Pride and I’ve got to get my head out of the fog and write. Seriously!

Do you like foggy days? If you don’t have to drive in it???

Brilliant Thoughts

Ever have one?

You know. That most brilliant idea that you want to put down on paper. You want to use in your story. You want to use to accomplish something big today. You want to tell your best friend or your significant other. It’s there, right there, and then when you need it most, its gone. Just poof! Like a genie vaporizing into his bottle and he won’t come out no matter how much you coax and entice and threaten.

Nope. That brilliant idea is gone. Forever.

It’s not that easy coming up with brilliant ideas. Really. That’s what makes them so brilliant. If we have them all the time then they’d become the average, just another regular idea. No, the brilliant ideas are just every once in a while ideas which make them so special. So next time you have one, be sure to capture it on paper. And then, you’ve got it! Forever. For all eternity.

What if no one else who hears your brilliant idea thinks it’s all that brilliant?

Maybe it’s better not to tell anyone. Then we can continue to know how much merit it has!

The characters in my stories do tell each other their brilliant plans. And sometimes they are. In theory. But in practice,Ā  it can have the domino effect–one falling into another until they all fall down.

But hey, if that happens–no problem. Just come up with another brilliant idea!

I’m still trying to remember mine. What about you?

A Crescent Moon on a Texas Winter’s Night

Moon on a Texas Winter's Night

Do you ever just take a moment and look at the stars in the sky? Or at the sunset? The moon? The world around us, day or night? I decided, now that I’ve moved my desk where I can see out the window, I need to have a bird feeder by the window so I can watch the antics of the birds. sunset and clouds (800x573)

My road runner continues to hop around my windowsills when I have the blinds closed. But I only rarely get a picture of him before I scare him off. šŸ™ Then again, what if I had bird feed out for the little birds and the road runner wanted to eat them. Meals on wings. Not what I wanted to picture at all.

roadrunner pillar (674x800)

I finished tons of deadline projects, which means I have to get caught up with chores, and then, it’s back to working on Jaguar Pride. I have 29,000 done. 51,000 words to go! šŸ™‚

If you put bird feed out for birds, what are you attracting? I’ve had hummingbird feeders before, but the problem is they attract yellow jackets and they’re already a nightmare out here, so can’t have that.

Have a terrific Monday! šŸ™‚

Vampires Get a Bad Rap–Sometimes

Huntress for Hire

She has her sights set on the worst vampire of them all…

In my world, vampires are part of the human world. They coexist. Some are good. Some are bad. Just like humans. But hunters of vampires also exist, who were changed during the Black Death also–those that survived the plague having enhanced healing abilities, enhanced senses, and a drive to kill the rogue vampires. So they’re real. They live among us. Years ago, I watched a show where the police officer kept trying to prove the vampires were real. He was a kind of Colombo–paranormal style. I loved that show, kept wanting him to prove they existed, poor guy. When today we all know they do.

But, I have to say that vampires do not shop in stores like this:

vamp vintage wear (409x800)

These clothes are for vampire wannabes. You know the old saying: Be careful what you wish for. Sometimes it works out all right.

Vampire romance, vampire romantic suspense, vampire love, paranormal romance, huntress romance

Sometimes it doesn’t.

bonnie vampire hunting copy (800x680)You just never know, so is it worth taking the risk?

Vampiric Calling

a novella

Wanna to drink to that? Or have a bite of chocolate?Ā  Again, I have to warn you, these are not vampire brands as in produced by real vampires. Just saying!

vampire wine, vampire chocolate, vampire foodSometimes it’s just safer sticking to the drink and food of the humans and pretending you’re a vamp.

Are You Ready to Listen to a Book?

Do you listen to audiobooks?

When I drove to work, I listened to them on the way there and back home, on trips, painted a whole room listening to one and was ready to paint the whole house, love to hear a book when I’m unable to read one or do anything else.

I just finished proofing and then approving The Shadow Elf (YA), half way done with proofing In the Dead of the Night, and have finished Forbidden Love and Demon Trouble Too (YA), both in review right now.Ā  The Winged Fae, The Highlander, Huntress for Hire, and The Trouble with Demons are in process.

So I’m off to proof the rest of In the Dead of the Night, and once the narrator makes the necessary corrections, I can approve it, send a check to pay her, and then it’ll go into review. Once it’s done with the review, it’s available for the listening public. So much fun!

The great news is I have some review copies!!!

Happy New Years!

It’s time to bring in the New Year, let the North Star guide us, or not…

Oct sunset, moon, north star (800x748)

Are you ready for the New Year? Do you write the old year for a while? Or do you write the new date, but then a month later, suddenly write the wrong one? Like, slipping a cog???

Are you a jumpstarter into the new year, and doing all the things you said you would, but then begin to slack off a month or so down the line? Kind of like writing a book. Jumping into it. Going forth to conquer, and then getting into that sagging middle? I’m still talking about books, not waistlines.

Do you ever get the jump on the New Year, before the New Year, hoping the momentum will keep you going or trying to catch up on the things you planned for the old year before the new one rings in, and then by the New Year, you’re already burned out???

Do you just have fun on New Year’s Day, and not care anything about making some big concessions for the rest of the year?

I’ll be working on edits and maybe watch some Castle for fun.

Hope you have a lovely New Year’s Day, and a grand start to the rest of the year. šŸ™‚
