Gone to the Birds…

The birds stop coming to the feeders and that means something is wrong. So I check, yep, seed is wet and moldy again. So I clean out the feeder, don’t put as much in this time. The no-melt suet was completely gone. All the birds loved it. I couldn’t find it again, so I picked up berry suet and the birds are happy. But also, I tried apples and they didn’t appeal to anyone. So I cute up an orange. The birds like that.

So here is a bluebird, mockingbird, uhm, cardinals got into my tomato plants, dove,mockingbird, mouth open (640x427) (2)gold finch (640x589)

gold finch (2) (640x540) and titmouse. A bluejay was there, but missed getting a picture. And the gold finches love the berry suet and the oranges.

And!!! A mockingbird was drinking from the new fountain. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the camera ready fast enough. But thanks to my friend, Donna, she said they will come. I just have to give things time. 🙂

Just like with writing. Have new hard drive. Hope this will solve all my problems!!

Going to the Dogs…

Okay, I’m still working on the story, hope I have transferred everything I need and can transfer to my external hard drive. I just learned from my son that he needs me to take care of his dog, Mishka, while he goes to Alaska on another AF mission.

Still no Facebook, and the hard drive might not be installed until Thursday. *sigh*

Oh, oh, oh, but the great news is that even though my property taxes didn’t show a homestead exemption, after looking for proof fruitlessly for the better part of the morning, I took the chance and called the tax office. They had the paperwork and it was recorded!!! So that was the great news for the day.

Hard Drive Failure–Like Heart Failure for a Computer

That’s what I have. Ugh.

Okay, so my SIL fixed my computer, only to come home and have the ominous note: Hard Drive Failure on the screen.

Simple. Buy a new hard drive.

Not simple. OMG, I have so much stuff on my computer. Too bad there wasn’t a way to transfer through osmosis. *sigh*

Then I get an application to apply for homestead exemption. Except I did that. Back in January. And paid the money for it. So another issue to take care of on Monday. Do I think it will be resolved? Easily? Somehow, no. I don’t think so. And I’ve missed the deadline for homestead exemption, even though I did this when I bought the new house. *double sigh*

DSC_5365 (640x427)Did you know you can take roses from a bouquet and plant them to try and have a special keepsake rosebush from some special occasion? I haven’t ever tried it, but if you google it, they show how.

One of those Mornings…

I couldn’t sleep last night. I ended up with Malware on my Facebook and I can’t access it now. So I got up at 3 am to try and figure it out again. Changed password, used CCleaner, tried different browser, updated my Windows, and….had to restart the computer. Then, can’t get my computer started now.

So it’s been one of those mornings. I’m on my laptop, and I’ve sent an emergency message to my daughter to tell my SIL I need help! It’s Mother’s Day weekend. So it seems appropriate. Doesn’t it?

*sigh* I really have been trying to get my writing done. I hate it when I can’t start my computer, can’t access accounts I need to access and of course the puppies decided they had to go out at 5:30.

So I’m wearing my purple wolf t-shirt while writing this blog, ignoring the puppies that have been telling me for that last hour and a half that is time for their breakfast even though it is not.

And dreaming of the wolf…..

I finally got my butterfly/hummingbird plants in and I can’t wait until they start blooming. But they’re just little itty bitty things, and first I have to make sure my goats don’t eat them.

What? You didn’t know I have goats?

Shadows and Light–the World We Live in

That’s the way I feel…like half my world is in shadows and I’m seeking the light… This morning, and for several days, I’ve been frustrated with my story. It is NOT coming. BUT, the good news is, this often happens. Sometimes, I can just write the book and this doesn’t happen–and I love it when I write a book like that.

But for this one and others like it, somehow, something clicks, and it comes together. How? I just keep pushing forward, keep writing, keep revising, keep writing, keep revising, and then suddenly, I see the light from the shadows and I’m in fast forward motion because the scenes are coming to me in shadowy visuals faster than I can write.

And yet, there is always this fear that it won’t happen this time. Sometimes, I think I need to throw out the whole book and start over again. Sometimes, I do start over from a new beginning and keep the scenes after that. Because it just needs to start in a new place. Sometimes, I shift gears and have a new idea that means rewriting several scenes to make it work with the new idea. No matter what I do, it’s always better.

I’ve learned to go with my gut instinct. That if something isn’t working for me, I know it won’t work for anyone else. So I have to fix it. There are lots of scenes I adore in this book. Funny, conflictive. But I’m just stuck on who did what and why. I’ve been brainstorming and brainstorming but nothing’s coming to me. I take breaks and nothing’s coming to me. I watch movies and nothing’s coming to me. I’ve thought of working on another book, but this one is due soon, so I can’t do that.

So I keep writing, keep revising, keep writing, and pushing forward.

Sometimes we just have to work in the shadows until we can find the light. 🙂

Ladybug, Ladybug, Where Are Your Spots?

She is eating aphids on my sweet pepper plant. Good little ladybug. Love seeing them in the garden. Just like I love seeing dragonflies and praying mantis. They are good bugs eating bad bugs.

Billionaire in Wolf’s Clothing coming next in July!!

c7c23-9781492621898-3002b2528390x6402529Releasing July 5. You know all those fireworks going off the day before? That’s an early celebration of Billionaire’s release. Really.

Billionaire in Wolf’s Clothing was set in California, which was fun for me because that’s where I am originally from. But this time I got to be a billionaire wolf! And that makes it even more fun! I have to say doing research was too. I’m not a billionaire, so what kind of vehicle would one drive? Hobbies? Kind of home? Etc. It was really fun living in the billionaire’s world, but as a wolf, because they always have their woodsy roots–so that was even better.
We went to all kinds of special places when we lived there when I was a kid: Disney Land, Knots Berry Farm, Lake Shasta, Folsom and other places boating and camping, the Redwoods, and some place that had huge mountains of sand. My dad and I climbed them and I dreamed I was in another world. We would go to the ocean–one of the beaches we called Moon Rock, because the waves had made holes  in so many rocks, and watched fishermen pulling octopus onto the jetty. I’m excited about going to San Deigo and seeing the zoo again, and just having plain fun. Maybe I’ll catch sight of the billionaire wolf and give him a little nod, saying I know what he is, and I’m proud to know him.
