The Battle between the Super Moon and the Clouds over Texas

These photos are all untouched. Unfortunately, I only had my older Canon EOS Rebel t2i with the 18-135 lens, my Nikon with the 75-300 lens was in the shop. ugh. It’s the one I took the latest Scotland photos with. The earlier Scotland photos were just with a Canon G-10 Power Shot.

Isn’t that neat? I wish I’d had my longer lens. Need to get one for the Canon as it’s a reliable camera always. I didn’t get the eclipse this time as the moon was again shrouded in clouds by the time the eclipse occurred.

Blood Moon Eclipsing

Blood Moon Eclipsing, you can see the North Star there too, wolves were added because they needed to be there.

I took this some years back with the Canon EOS Rebel T2i, 18-135 Lens,no tripod.  But only a couple of pictures turned out because of photographer’s hand shake. 🙁

I’ve learned a tripod is essential for taking moon pictures! 🙂 <3

For the most part, this is a character driven story with Laurel and CJ’s budding romance on center stage. The author goes into a little bit of history as to why the heroine and her sisters are in town, and it also touches on the fact that CJ and his brothers are newly re-established in the town and are finally fitting back in. There is a strong sense of community which is accomplished through the varied secondary characters that populate the town. Ms. Spear took the time to describe the town, some of its traditions and some of its challenges. Like a lot of small hamlets, they struggle to stay afloat financially and have to come up with unique events to liven things up. Nothing makes a celebration easier than a holiday and Christmas is the perfect backdrop for some magic and romance. I adored the snowman making contest.

I enjoyed how Laurel and CJ ended up taking turns pursuing each other. The novel is told through both their points of view so I could get a sense as to what motivated them in their quest to connect. It’s hesitant at first but soon sparks fly, libidos are inflamed and readers get to see how good CJ and Laurel are together.

The mystery comes with a twist. It’s not as clear cut as I originally thought. In addition, the bad guys end up being a huge surprise and the revelation stunned me. I really like that Ms. Spear could pull the wool over my eyes so efficiently. http://www.longandshortreviews.com/book-reviews/a-silver-wolf-christmas-by-terry-spear/

Welcome to Christmas wolf shifter style! Spear creates an exciting and fun story that kept me on my toes while taking me deep into the world of her unforgettable characters. The underlying current of mystery had me trying to puzzle it out while also enjoying my foray into this wolfy world. She uses descriptions to advantage, developing characters you can picture & feel as if you know, and settings that come to life, but leaving room for your imagination to run wild in this fantastic world. Spear develops her concept of wolf shifters well. She really lets readers know what it means to be one, how the pack works, and other cultural details. – See more at: http://purejonel.blogspot.ca/2015/09/aSWC.html

The fog was thick all around the house, but what made it even cooler was the perfectly constructed spiderweb built between wrought posts on my driveway gate. What couldn’t be more perfect for the fall look, and ready decorations for Halloween?

Trying Something New in Promotions & Cloud Textures

I’m not sure it’s going to make all that much of a difference, but they had a free trial for their site for a month, so giving it a shot. It’s cool the way they set up a “Bubble” to show your author profile and then an excerpt of the book. Since Taming the Wild Cougar is coming out in October, I wanted to see if it would help with preorder sales or not.

I tried one for Dragon Fae and had these results.

Date facebook icon twitter icon email icon bublish icon
August 6 6 3
August 5 31 63 17
August 4 27 45 14
Total 206
This is for views on the various sites. The first day, I posted a preview of Dragon Fae’s first chapter. The second day an excerpt of Hawk Fae, the follow-on book. No increase in sales on either.
So I deleted the book and started over again. This is after an hour of posting it. I wanted to see if a different book would have more of an impact. Usually adult books (romance) do, and since this is a preorder with a highly discounted price, I thought it might.

So we’ll see. I figure I can’t go wrong with a free promotional tool. If nothing comes of it, then I don’t lose any money. They say if you have a new bubble up today or tomorrow, it’ll go into the special weekend reads. So I should be all set.

Playing with more textures. The top has two different cloud texture layers.  The first was similar to the blue of the original blue sky. The second had a pretty aqua coloring. And then I did a light erase on the clouds to show the build up. The last picture I added a blue grunge to make it appear darker like night, and a galaxy sky. I always want to photography the stars all in the night sky. But they rarely show up. So here, I can do it. lol

Okay, just finished Billionaire in Wolf’s Clothing to turn in and got copy edits for SEAL Wolf in Too Deep. *sigh*  Was going to get back to Taming the Wild Cougar. And need to make up 4 bears this weekend. 🙂

Okay, back to edits!!! 🙂 Have a super wonderful TGIF.

Heavy Thunderstorms!

We have a river flood warning today, no wonder. It rained sometime during the night as I found standing water in a few areas. And it was sprinkling when I took the puppies out, but also looking extremely ominous, lightning, thunder, dark clouds.

Now it’s pouring.

storms in the morning (640x427)more storms an sunrise (640x427)storms in the monring and sunrise (640x427) storms dark (640x427) (2)

And that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. No rain, or very low the rest of the week!

Have a super great Saturday! I only wrote 400 words yesterday. Had to run a ton of errands, and then I worked on 4 Celtic bears. So I’ve got to make up for it today, if I can.

So off to write unless I have to shut down. *sigh*

Violent Storms Last Night–and Weird Happenings

April Storm (3) (640x324)

Midnight was approaching last night when the storms hit again. I think we had a 20% of storms. Right. So lightning illuminated the sky in a spectacular light display while thunder boomed and cracked right overhead. The wind blew so hard and the rain rushed down in torrents I really felt the house would be rubble by morning.

But none of that is all that interesting right?

No. It’s the human and puppy aspect that is. So says I. I scrambled out of bed to batten down the hatches. Something my dad would say. He was in the AF, but thought of himself as the captain of the ship.

In any event, I had to turn of the computer. I have it on at night so that a cloud service can save the data during the off hours when it won’t use up my internet time because I’m always over on it. 🙁

Anyway, so it’s wild and all I can think of is where is the safest place to be in the house. No place, really. If a tornado hits, that’s all she wrote. Literally.

The puppies were watching me run into the living room to secure the computer. They were good. No barking. Just sitting there wondering about me, and not sure about the storm. They seem to feel more secure in their crate.

puppies sleeping in crate 014 (640x427)

So then I went back to bed to worry about the storm. And the weird happenings began.

The light was on in the garage. I hadn’t turned it on. I never turn it on. Or rarely. Spooky music here.

So I got back out of bed and headed for the garage, poked my head inside, and tried to remember which button turned off the light without accidentally opening the garage door during the brunt of the storm. Got the right button, light didn’t go out, great, but I went back to bed. Then I thought it looked dark, so I got out of bed, peeked into the garage, light’s out. I return to bed. Puppies are watching all this weirdness, by the way, not sure what I’m up to.

A few minutes later, my phone rings. But only on the main phone. The extension in my room just remained deadly silent.

More spooky music here.

Was it the fae? Or the electrical storm that was wreaking havoc with my house in the middle of the night?

Phantom Fae

I checked the weather this morning and yep, it had changed from hardly any % of rain to 60% chance of PM thunderstorms. The radar shows storms all over our area today, right now. So not sure if they’re going to wait until the PM to start up again or let loose off and on all day. But for now, lakes of water are on my driveway, again, culverts are full of water, again, and it’s time to start the day all over–and think of being somewhere else…maybe with a Billionaire wolf in paradise!

Beauty in the Storms

closer up sunflowers storms blue

bad storms (640x427)

It’s raining, it’s pouring, the old man is snoring.

Storms can be devastating–causing floods, fires, stirring up wind devils. But they can be beautiful too. And when we have all heat, sun, and no rain for months, we’ll look back on these stormy days with longing for their return. Of course, it would be nice to just have some gently raining days. Nice evening showers, and then the rest of the time we can play outside. But we have to take what we can get.

That means running the puppies out in the storms, losing the Internet, and having to turn off the computer. Ugh.

But, still, I love the storms, the electricity in the air, the smell of the rain on the wind, the clouds building into artistic creations, the streaks of lightning reminding us how powerful storms can be, and the sheet lightning turning on and off as if a kid discovered the light switch and was testing it out.

Okay, back to She-Wolf edits and hoping I don’t have to shut my computer down again today while I’m finishing them up. Have 50 pages to go.

Shadows: Jet Airliner

I thought of Steve Miller and Jet Airliner when I was writing this blog.

But when I was flying, it’s usually dark, early morning, or late evening. Today it was early afternoon, and for the first time, I caught sight of the shadow of the plane racing across Texas. I thought it was so cool, I had to take a picture. My battery was flashing and I knew I was running out of battery power, but when we went over the lake, I wished I had gotten one of that too. Instead, I just enjoyed watching it skim over the water and got a picture of it flying across the trees down below.

The Shadow

The Shadow

Don’t you think that’s pretty cool? Or am I the only one who sees things like this and is intrigued?

Have a wonderful day!!
