Anora, the shepherdess, finds a half-naked man in her bed, so what’s a woman living alone in a cottage in the Lowlands of Scotland supposed to do? Prod him with her pitchfork to chase him off! Only the man is not just a traveler seeking her bed for a rest—but a wounded Highlander, who fights back, swinging his sword!

Niall MacNeill is searching for a Frenchwoman of nobility to escort to his cousin’s castle for safekeeping, when he and his friend, Gunnolf, are attacked by another Highland clan, seeking the same woman. The other Highlanders wish to sell her to the highest bidder—English or French—it does not matter.

Niall takes refuge in a sheepherder’s cottage to heal up from his wounds and discovers the shepherdess taking care of him may very well be the woman he seeks. He has no intention of doing anything but what his cousin requests of him—ensure her safety on their way to Craigly Castle—but when the lass so bravely wields her pitchfork at him, he is thinking of other, more interesting possibilities.

Yes, I did it! I finished the synopses for all three books and marketing materials for them and turned them in after brainstorming all day on the one with two of my readers. I made up the last bear that was a last minute order. I finished She-Wolf Leader of the pack and sent it to my first beta reader. And I’m done!!! Except that now I have to ship all those bears today.

Last night I watched the movie about the Chernobyl wolves. Unbelievable how high the radiation levels are there, yet the animals have returned to the territory, are healthy and normal for the most part, though their bones are highly radiated. Bison have returned, and eagles, beavers have returned and the canals that at one time irrigated crops are back to marshlands. It was a horrific situation for everything there and the soil is still contaminated. But the fruit trees produce fruit for the bears and other animals that have returned. And even a nearly extinct species of wild horses have been reintroduced, though poachers are still killing them. Why is that? For what purpose?

The trees that were turned rust by the explosion are green and the vegetation is reclaiming the area.

As bad as the man-made disaster was, it has provided a safe habitat–from man–for hundreds of species of animals.

Okay, I’m off to ship bears and run a million other errands, which fall behind when I’m working on deadline stuff.

I have SOOOOO many projects left to do, it makes me wonder what I will work on next! The Viking’s Highland Lass, the next fae book, the next cougar book, the list goes on.

And yet, I have another deadline coming up–and two weeks of being unable to write. So I will have to start on that book soon.

Have a super great Monday!

I had one evening off, that’s enough time to goof off, don’t you think?

Google Play: Coming

Normally, I like to have a story that is ended, no cliff hanger because it frustrates readers when they don’t know when the next book is coming, and I never know when I can finish a book when I have so many other deadlines that absolutely have to be met: ie for a publisher.

With Hawk Fae, book 5, it had to be left like it was or it would have been two books in one. And truly, I loved the way it was ended, with resolution, but with something more devious going on coming up.

With Phantom Fae, book 6, resolution. I have two covers for two more fae stories, no idea where I want to go with them at the moment, or titles for them. But when I have some time, I’ll share.

Because I worked on finalizing this up all day yesterday, I didn’t have time to work on SEAL, so I’m behind, but I’ll hopefully catch up on word count today. I will be working on the Phantom Fae print version soon, but needed to get my word count for SEAL because it’s so much harder to manage when it gets really behind. Hopefully, I’ll be at the halfway point today, if I get caught up.

It’s been raining a lot, which is unusual in the winter, but we so needed the rain again. I slipped on the wet pavement when I went to take the dogs out at 4:45, so need to find a different pair of shoes that hopefully are less slippery, or figure out something else. I have a conference to go to in a little bit and I don’t want to be running around in airports on crutches.

Oh, and I had asked my editor if they’d be interested in a historical wolf story series some time ago because I love writing historical, but she said no. My wolves also have long lives, so often I slip some of the historical aspect into them. So I thought it would be neat to have two series, the historical ones and the contemporary ones. But when she said no, that was fine with me. A rejection means an opportunity to excel. With today’s publishing options, I can just smile and say, “Okay,” and go on my merry way and write the books of my heart anyway.

A couple of years ago I listened to a NY Times bestselling author who was writing a historical series, and she had this idea for a really cool Irish historical romance series. She was so excited to write it and her agent said if she tried to push it, he’d dump her. Now, she was a highly successful author and he was making a ton of money off her, but he was afraid if he didn’t squash this far out notion, she wouldn’t make any money and he wouldn’t. So she dumped him and got a new agent, sold the series, and made bestseller status on those books. We have to write what our heart tells us and hopefully our readers will love them every bit as much.

I wonder if the agent is regretting his decision. Even if the sales hadn’t taken off, the author had to do this. It’s what we do. Create. From the heart. And if that creativity is squashed, we end up hitting a brick wall of writing block.

Editors and agents will sometimes steer us in directions that aren’t right for us because they think that’s what the market wants. But we’re still creating the stories and we have to be able to write what we can to an extent because otherwise the story just won’t come.

So here is the cover, still need to come up with a series name and title, but I think for series name: Highland Wolf Clan. Not sure on title. It will be historical, wolf, Highlands.

And I thought this was such a fantastic cover, I had to buy it for the first book. 🙂

That’s it! I’m listening to the rain, and it’s pouring out, typing this up, working on making the changes to SEAL that I worked on when I went to bed last night and then I’m off to write.

Have a super great Thursday. Puppies are sleeping on my lap and all is well.

🙂

Obedience Training–the Consultation

Since Tanner is too little, until he has shots, to do the training just yet, I took Max. Now, we were early. Remember the: if you go early, you’ll be even earlier than you thought scenario? My GPS said it would take me 41 mins to get there and we were supposed to be there 15 mins early, just in case.

I was there half an hour early, and the trainer was talking to a man about his dog, so I took Max on a walk through the park. I could get used to that. Taking the dogs for a walk, especially once they’re more trained. Max looked like a bloodhound, Havanese style, nose to the ground, yanking this way and that. I knew that wasn’t acceptable, but the training I had taken in ye old days was to yank the dog back firmly and tell him to heel. I wanted to wait to see what the trainer said.

So as we were walking, Max didn’t notice the people, well, two kids bouncing balls, but he just looked at them, no barking. Yay! That’s one of his problems. Barking at people and dogs if they’re anywhere near us. So then as we were walking, OMG, a HUGE dog, couldn’t tell from the distance, but he was in a backyard and saw Max bouncing along, and the other dog starts his HUGE barking. He probably was a great dane. Anyway, Max immediately stopped whatever he was doing, looked around, didn’t see the monster dog, but decided he wanted in my arms. As if I could protect him. LOL

Anyway, the dog quit barking, Max was confident he was safe from harm and went back to walking.

Then it was time for the talk. Oh, did I mention he got car sick again? Argh. Poor baby. I hope they get over it soon.

Max is very white and has some silver and black

Max is very white and has some silver and black and a little tan

Anyway, so she said in their program they use a training collar. It zaps them just a bit to get their attention. Even though it might be a little scary to them, to me it’s better than constantly yanking them physically hard to get them back to your side as in the other training I had taken.

It truly was a miracle. He kept yanking away from her, nose to ground, at least he wasn’t scared of her. But then she’d send a message through the collar, and he’d turn to look at her. At first, his tail was tucked between his legs, but then it was riding high on his back, happy as can be and every time she used the collar, he’d turn, then return to her. She’d praise him, she’d let him go off, use the collar, and he’d return. It truly was amazing.

Okay, so then about the barking. At one point, she was beginning to very slowly bring him back to me, just a few steps, stop, and he was frustrated because at that point, he really wanted to get back to me. He was lunging, woofing, and she kept after him. And he would be fine, until some kids ran by with a dog, and Max started barking. So she used the collar, told him, “Quiet,” and it worked. She had to do it a few times, and then he was fine.

When we were sitting at the table, Max was on the cement floor next to me, and a family set up a picnic and of course they had a dog. So Max began to bark. She used the collar trick, he behaved right away. Then her dog, that was in training, lying on a mat, stretched and caught Max’s eye, so of course Max barked. She used the collar and he was quiet, and for the rest of the time we were there, he watched the dogs but was quiet. Then I lifted him into my lap and he curled up and went to sleep.

That was Obedience Training–the Consultation.

I enrolled him in 6 months of lessons. It was only $100 more for 6 months as opposed to 3, so I figured I’d do it longer. Now, hopefully I can work this in and my word count, etc, etc, etc. Tanner was too little to go to the park, not having all his shots yet. So I’ll probably take him later. He’s got a real problem of barking when I’m not in the room with him.

And that’s it! Off to work on Phantom Fae edits so I can publish this and then off to work on SEAL Wolf Diving for Trouble word count!

Have a super great Wednesday!

SEAL Wolf Diving for Trouble

Max is doing great! We had a good day yesterday. Some fans mentioned not to have rawhide chewies from China, and though the puppies never seemed to have a problem with them, I checked, and sure enough 2 packages were from China. One is from Brazil. So I threw away the ones from China. The one package, they never would chew on the sticks, too big. The others were perfect size, so I’ll have to find a substitute. Word count. One thing about writing action/adventure/conflictive scenes is that they are sooooo much fun. And I get a lot of word count because I’m in the scene, fighting the situation as the hero or heroine and having a blast. 🙂 So, that was lots of fun. And it’s a scene that I will love revisiting, whether it needs editing or not. And that’s how all our scenes should be.

This is where the puppies should be.

This is where the puppies should be.

This is where they are.--my lap

This is where they are.–my lap

Even so, I still have not caught up on my word count. Getting there and the other work is stacking up. So if I can get my word count today–I keep whittling away at it and today is only 4500 because I wrote a lot yesterday, so each day it’s closer to my daily goal–then I need to put out my newsletter about the new release and print out Phantom Fae to read and edit again so I can get it ready to publish. And that’s it! Oh, and while I’m writing a new book, I do tons of research. Since I’m hopping from cougar and jaguar shifters, to fae and Highlanders, when I return to another genre like wolves, I have to slip back into their persona. So when I was describing the heroine getting ready to lunge at the hero, I found this neat page that shows some wolf posturing. It says it’s kids only on the link, but hey, we’re all kids at heart, right?

Texas Sunset

Texas Sunset

Have you ever been in a rush, and goofed? Well, I was trying to get a picture of another finished Steampunk Bear for an order and the sun was setting, fast, and I forgot to put her Steampunk watch on. So I have to wait for the sun to rise this morning so I can take her picture, again. So the sun just rose, but it’s still fairly dark out. I’ll show her off tomorrow, maybe with another couple of bears if I have time to finish them.

And more finished bears. I really have been working. 🙂

I finished her and she’s ready to ship, and I finished another bear’s paws, and half of another bear’s paws last night for a 4 bear order. But the one has to have a tutu. I’ve made them before, but I wanted to see if they had some other fun techniques to make them, and voila, I LOVE the Internet. All kinds of sites showing how to make one in a fun way.

I turned in A Silver Wolf Christmas, and I’m now rereading Kiss of the Vampire, YA, since I have to update  the cover as soon as I get the finalized one back from the cover artist.

And I’m going to reread The Vampire…In My Dreams and I’ve been reformatting it so that I can republish it. 🙂 <3

And I’m still working with the last beta reader on Call of the Cougar.

I hope to finish 2-3 bears today, and finish reading Kiss of the Vampire. 🙂

What a great, cold day! Happy TGIF!

Don’t you love the new cover???

What Kind of Hawk is This?

I had so much fun at my daughter and son-in-laws and seeing the Texas Renaissance Festival and having a couple of fun Italian meals out.

This was one of the gowns they had for sale at the fair. The gowns and such are beautiful. Expensive, but beautiful.

black and white gown (435x640)

I got home at about 8:30 am and first thing, after unpacking the car, was getting a cup of hot tea so I could get to work on Jaguar Pride to finish final proofing it and get it turned in today.

Now, I have a wildlife sanctuary out back. One day, I saw this huge bird, I thought was a hawk, crawling through my hedge to get baby sparrows. I went outside with my camera and it flew out of the hedge and I couldn’t capture it on the camera. But I was certain it was a hawk. It had a curved beak, yellow eyes, spotted on the side (he caught me looking at him and turned sideways to look at me and then quickly moved away from the window), and did I mention he was huge?

Anyway, so I’m looking out the window as I’m waiting for the water to heat up, and I’m noticing no birds, no birdseed, and figuring I’ll need to feed them, and there goes this huge bird flying under the canopy of the trees in the backyard, then he settles in the variegated privet, a tall hedge about ten feet tall and begins eating whatever he caught. OMG. It’s him! Or her! So I ran to get my still packed camera, figuring he’d have flown off. But nope. He sees me moving in front of the window, climbing my footstool to get above the kitchen screen on the window and eats his prey.

And here he is:

hawk 003 (2) (640x427)

This picture shows him in perspective, just how big he is.

right sideview hawkgreat sideview of hawkhawk 001

So it’s Texas, and the question is, what kind of hawk is it? He looks like he is getting plenty of meals!

I turned in Jaguar Pride, have 2 special blogs I’ve got to do and then it’s off to finishing up on edits on A Silver Wolf Christmas! I also worked on 4 small blond bears for orders and a medium blond bear for another. 🙂 <3  And I got more fur and I have to cut them all out. You know why? Because before long, Christmas will be here!!!

Have a super great Tuesday! Can’t believe it’s already Tuesday!

Have You Ever Been to a Renaissance Fair? & Wolf Awareness Week Continues!

Going to a Renaissance Fair in Texas can be challenging–clothes wise.  You’re trying to dress up in period clothes and its HOT!

Anyway, my son-in-law is dressing up for the first time, and I’m excited. I’m wearing cooler. 🙂  I just throw some stuff together. We don’t go to them enough to pay a lot of money on costumes and I had a few things from some other events I wore, so should work. It’s the fantasy theme, so that should be fun.

I Wasn’t Going to Post Today Because I Have so Much to Do, But…

I wasn’t going to post today because I’ve GOT to finish A SEAL Wolf Hunting edits today, turn it in and finish 2 bears by tomorrow at noon. At least that was the plan. 🙂 <3 But then I got this terrific review at Fresh Fiction, and one from Angel’s Guilty Pleasures, and  I had to share the steampunk bear and sherbet bears I just finished for a couple of orders, and I just had to drop in share about the spider takeover.

So here I am, and then I’m in the bear cave to edit! 🙂 <3

“A holiday treat — a romance that sizzles and entertains!”

A Highland Wolf Christmas

Holiday | Romance Paranormal

A HIGHLAND WOLF CHRISTMAS is Book fifteen in Terry Spear’s Heart of the Wolf series. As always, Terry Spear balances great characters, eroticism, and high-energy story- telling to make a compelling read. A HIGHLAND WOLF CHRISTMAS is another story by this author that I was anxious to read, and sad to see end.

A HIGHLAND WOLF CHRISTMAS is both fun and exciting. The camaraderie between the members of the MacNeill family, and Guthrie’s bodyguard attempts make for some lighter moments. These lighter moments act as a nice counterpoint to the drama and danger surrounding Calla being stalked by her ex. Terry Spear does a wonderful job drawing both of these characters out and adding depth to them. Guthrie really surprised me by not being the crotchety spendthrift I thought he would be. Instead, he’s sexy and has a big heart. Calla is not a warrior or fighter but she stands up to her ex when he tries to push her around. She shows a strong character and courage. I love how Guthrie’s family welcomed Calla and made her feel like a part of their family — even before she officially got together with Guthrie.

A HIGHLAND WOLF CHRISTMAS is a holiday treat — a romance that sizzles and entertains. The familiar characters from previous books make a great addition to the story and don’t take anything away from the romance between Guthrie and Calla. I love this Heart of the Wolf series by Terry Spear and eagerly await the next installment.

– 4.5 Highland Wolf Stars –

I love picking up any of Ms. Spear book’s. They always feel like a new adventure, with great characters and sweet romance. She writes the most interesting shifter characters. I especially love reading about her highland wolves. They are just so yummy.

Hero of a Highland Wolf is book fourteen in Heart of the Wolf series by Terry Spear. Hero of a Highland Wolf can be read as a standalone. We get humor, sweet romance, revenge and family.

I was pulled in from the first page. Really who can not be pulled in by brawny werewolves in kilts and nothing else. I’m a sucker for sexy highland shifters of any kind and when they are dressed in kilts only. Oh Baby! Let me get my fan. What does a shifter wolf wear under his kilt? You guessed it!

Grant MacQuarrie is the caretaker of Farriage Castle which Colleen Playfair inherited. Grant has some fears, so he hatches a plan. Let me tell you I loved this plan and got a great laugh when the plan does not work and the joke is on Grant as Colleen is best friends with Julia. This book is a lot of fun, the romance builds slowly with misunderstandings, danger and a rival. When they finally get together the scenes are smoking hot! We always get a great cast of characters in Ms. Spear book’s and this one is no different. I love the camaraderie of the pack’s and the ladies’ party was so much fun to read.

What I like best is you don’t need to have read each book in order to understand and enjoy them. If you have not yet had a chance to read this series, get started. It is well worth the time. Ms. Spears is a fantastic writer and her humor is wonderful.

The storm a couple of weeks ago took out some of the roofs off some buildings in Waco. Saturday’s storm, not sure. Last night was really bad again and it had me up and unplugging computers and stuff. Electricity went out 5 times. Another storm system coming in on Monday next week. But we’ve so needed the rain, I can’t complain and the temps are dropping, and I’m thrilled!

Got to take a picture of a finished Steampunk Bear before I ship. A friend of a really big time author ordered it for her, and I’m really excited about it!!! But she doesn’t want me to show it off in case the author sees it. As if. LOL 🙂 <3 So I’ll post it after Christmas.

Happy Wolf Awareness Week!!! Have a lovely Wednesday!
