Are Dragons Real?

Of course they are! Here’s a statue of one I took the picture of at the Ren Festival. I’m still working on a vampire young adult book, but I want to write about the dragon fae also. Dragon Fae was the first book I wrote about fae who shift into dragons.

I finished a bear for an order yesterday and have that and some books I need to ship today.

Otherwise, I’m working on Bite of the Vampire. Sometimes at times like this, my mind drifts to other books I’ve started, or covers that I want to write books for. I need more hours in the day!

Have a super fine day!

Golden Fae is Out!

fairy artworkAt the Renaissance fair, an artist was painting this. Isn’t this beautiful?

Art project: beautiful woman with golden make-up. Jewelry, make-up. Fashion. Over black background.

How does the golden fae get into big time trouble with one fiery dragon? When playing with fire…

All the golden fae wanted to do was to pick mushrooms for her mother—in the forbidden dragon fae territory, but Kayla sees dragons practicing for their games, and she gets caught at it. She loses her locket that she needs to have when she comes of age in just a couple of weeks so she can keep her magic as a lavender grower for the golden fae. Only now, one highly annoying dragon shifter fae has got it, and she will do anything to get it back.

Alton can’t believe it when the golden fae arrives at his friend’s castle wearing the dragon fae aura now! But he has a mission to go on, save a human and a dragon fae in the human world, and Kayla ends up there offering to help—anything to get him to give her locket back to her. Only a fae seer shoots him with an iron bolt, and Kayla risks everything, trying to get him and the captured maid safely back home again.

Now he will do almost anything to learn the mysterious golden fae’s secrets, and protect her from his own kind at all costs.

We have strong storms through Thursday of next week. I was working on bears last night, taking a break on books for a moment, have 4 bear orders, but then I did write about 500 words of the beginning of SEAL Wolf Undercover. 79,500 words left! But you gotta start somewhere! 🙂 And I got groceries!

Have a lovely day. I predict–rain, for here anyway! 🙂 <3

Google Play: Coming

Normally, I like to have a story that is ended, no cliff hanger because it frustrates readers when they don’t know when the next book is coming, and I never know when I can finish a book when I have so many other deadlines that absolutely have to be met: ie for a publisher.

With Hawk Fae, book 5, it had to be left like it was or it would have been two books in one. And truly, I loved the way it was ended, with resolution, but with something more devious going on coming up.

With Phantom Fae, book 6, resolution. I have two covers for two more fae stories, no idea where I want to go with them at the moment, or titles for them. But when I have some time, I’ll share.

Because I worked on finalizing this up all day yesterday, I didn’t have time to work on SEAL, so I’m behind, but I’ll hopefully catch up on word count today. I will be working on the Phantom Fae print version soon, but needed to get my word count for SEAL because it’s so much harder to manage when it gets really behind. Hopefully, I’ll be at the halfway point today, if I get caught up.

It’s been raining a lot, which is unusual in the winter, but we so needed the rain again. I slipped on the wet pavement when I went to take the dogs out at 4:45, so need to find a different pair of shoes that hopefully are less slippery, or figure out something else. I have a conference to go to in a little bit and I don’t want to be running around in airports on crutches.

Oh, and I had asked my editor if they’d be interested in a historical wolf story series some time ago because I love writing historical, but she said no. My wolves also have long lives, so often I slip some of the historical aspect into them. So I thought it would be neat to have two series, the historical ones and the contemporary ones. But when she said no, that was fine with me. A rejection means an opportunity to excel. With today’s publishing options, I can just smile and say, “Okay,” and go on my merry way and write the books of my heart anyway.

A couple of years ago I listened to a NY Times bestselling author who was writing a historical series, and she had this idea for a really cool Irish historical romance series. She was so excited to write it and her agent said if she tried to push it, he’d dump her. Now, she was a highly successful author and he was making a ton of money off her, but he was afraid if he didn’t squash this far out notion, she wouldn’t make any money and he wouldn’t. So she dumped him and got a new agent, sold the series, and made bestseller status on those books. We have to write what our heart tells us and hopefully our readers will love them every bit as much.

I wonder if the agent is regretting his decision. Even if the sales hadn’t taken off, the author had to do this. It’s what we do. Create. From the heart. And if that creativity is squashed, we end up hitting a brick wall of writing block.

Editors and agents will sometimes steer us in directions that aren’t right for us because they think that’s what the market wants. But we’re still creating the stories and we have to be able to write what we can to an extent because otherwise the story just won’t come.

So here is the cover, still need to come up with a series name and title, but I think for series name: Highland Wolf Clan. Not sure on title. It will be historical, wolf, Highlands.

And I thought this was such a fantastic cover, I had to buy it for the first book. 🙂

wolf Highalnder cover

That’s it! I’m listening to the rain, and it’s pouring out, typing this up, working on making the changes to SEAL that I worked on when I went to bed last night and then I’m off to write.

Have a super great Thursday. Puppies are sleeping on my lap and all is well.

🙂

Thoughts:

I loved this! I was enthralled, enchanted and enamored by this lively fae story that moved fast and kept me riveted from beginning to the end. There just weren’t any dull moments. The characters were fun and each was on a trip of self-discovery. This is a story that would be perfect for tweens and teens . But… it’s not just for the young. I really enjoyed it, too, and I’m in my 60s.

The characters shined! Alicia was raised as a human who could see the fae. All she knew about the fae royal kingdoms, she had learned from her father’s journal. As she and her friend, Cassie, were vacationing on South Padre Island, Deveron, a dark fae. made a move on Cassie. Alicia literally pours cold water on him to put a halt to his shenanigans. Deveron decides that he will enjoy paying her back. He might be surprised, though, to find the tables turned on him.
Bottom-line: If you like to escape to magical fantasy worlds with fun romances, captivating characters and non-stop. entertaining adventure, rush to whatever bookstore you use, and buy this book now!
And another review!!!
Loved this fun review of The Dark Fae also!
“What an amazing read. The Dark Fae is so dark and twisty, while at the same time amusing and flirty. This is the first Terry Spear book I’ve ever read and I have to say I’m astonished at the creativity that went into this first installment of the World of Fae series. I was riveted from the very first sentence. Alicia is a smart aleck who doesn’t quite know when to back off. She had me laughing more times than I can count. Even though she’s scared for her life, she’s tough and won’t back down. I respect that in a heroine. Deveron is delicious and dangerous. He’s the bad boy we all love and he will not let readers down. All of the drama with the dark fae vs. the human world really kept me enthralled. I couldn’t wait to find out whether Alicia would get caught and what would happen to her if she did. Oh and let’s not forget the romance. Wowzers! Alicia and Deveron are hot together…mostly due to the fact that she’s always sniping at him. Like I said, very amusing. This is a couple all readers will root for. They’re the couple who doesn’t belong together so of course, we all want them to make it. The Dark Fae is definitely a must read and I will be recommending it to everyone I know. I can’t wait to devour the rest of the series!”

Coming Up with Story Ideas

Who would have thought being a gate guardian could be so much trouble?
The Trouble with Demons
Witches and warlocks hide their true identities from the rest of the human population, while three teens with demon heritage living with human families, become unlikely companions in a race against time to deal with a demon threat to humankind in their own quirky way.Alana Fainot, a witch and half Kubiteron demon, witnesses a Matusa murder his summoner, and she knows he’ll target her next. Raised by her mother, she has no idea who her demon father is. But when she’s pulled to a demon portal, she meets Hunter Ross, half Matusa, half human, who returns demons to their world, but who’s been poisoned by a Matusa and is more dead than alive. His human mother gave him up for adoption, and he doesn’t know who either of his birth parents are. His friend Jared Kensington, full blooded Elantus demon, less powerful than the Kubiteron, is a whiz at electronics and helps Hunter track demons in the city, but was abandoned by his parents on Earth world for reasons unknown. He’s determined to find help to save Hunter. Alana knows aiding any Matusa is a mistake, but when she learns Hunter is half human, she makes a deal—he protects her against the Matusa who will come for her, and she helps find his dad in the demon world to save Hunter’s life.Often at odds, the three teens work together to stop the plans of a group of Matusa to take over the human race before it’s too late.

 Demon Trouble Too

Alana Fainot is a demon gate guardian, stuck in her last boring year of school. But not for long. Hunter and the rest of the gang show up when her astral form can’t return to her physical form, and she’s at the police station trying to talk her way out of having seen the murderer of a summoner. Hunter always knew Alana was trouble, but his kind of trouble, and he’s not leaving Alana alone again.Celeste Sweetwater, a new kind of demon, joins Hunter and Alana and the rest of the demon guardians in a fight to find a new kind of portal device that can summon several demons at once. But not only that, another Matusa has been unleashed on the unsuspecting human world and the demon guardians must stop him before he wreaks much more havoc. But this time, the police are involved, paranormal investigators pounce on the area, and the whole mess seems to be spiraling out of the demon guardians’ control.

Do you ever wonder how I come up with ideas? Well, in a million different ways. Sometimes from a news report. Sometimes seeing a show or movie and it gets me to thinking. Sometimes reading an adult romance and I begin thinking about it in a young adult way. Or vice versa. I read a YA and I think, wow, wouldn’t this be fun as a sexy adult romance?

In the case of the demon teen series, I had read a cool book, judging for a contest some years back where the woman was being stalked by someone and I think she was part demon. Or he was. Can’t remember. So I thought how cool would it be if I had teens who were partly demons, part humans, just trying to be normal human teens?  Well, one of the boys is full demon, but one of the more good-natured ones. And one of the girls is also a witch. So all kinds of fun.

The Vampire…In My Dreams came from reading just the opening of a book I looked at on Amazon, and it was about two women who were sneaking into a mobile home to learn if the guy sleeping in the bed was a vampire. So in my story, I have where the two girls are chasing the vampire in the night. Only they really don’t exist. Only witches and warlocks do. And they are witches.

Then in Kiss of the Vampire…my mother said I needed to write about vampires going on a cruise and eating all the people. Yes, Mom. I kept telling her I didn’t write horror stories. Romance, Mom. I write happily ever afters. 🙂

And the Fae…well, I read an adult fae book and thought wouldn’t it be cool to write a teen version?

Of course, my stories aren’t anything like the other books. It’s just a kernel of an idea that forms and the whole story/world is something totally new.  That has to do with voice and the author’s own reading habits, life experiences, etc.

So when you sit down to read a book, do you ever wonder where the author came up with the idea???

Have a super Saturday!!! Off to work some more on The Highlander and A Highland Wolf Christmas!

More Cover Reworks!

I’m reworking all my old covers to try to give them more of the look of what the story is about–more drama, if I can, colors that will emphasize them, better font, in some cases. And several of my covers were too small, so having to get larger sized pictures to redo them. Also, making sure that the title and my name can be see in the smaller formats. It all takes time, hours!

But I’ve also been writing on the new book: A Highland Wolf Christmas, featuring Guthrie MacNeill and Calla Stewart. This will be the last story of the brothers. But Heather, their cousin, needs some romancing, don’t you think? And I’m working on The Highlanders, which is a Highland medieval romance, book 5 in The Highlanders series. Sometimes I’ll do that, hop from one book to another. When I can’t think of the next scene, I’ll work on the other.  So far I have 24,000 on The Highlander, and 2,000 on wolf Christmas. I was stumped on the opening on Guthrie’s story as I wanted it to begin with conflict between the her and heroine right off–he has to be wearing a kilt, and I’ve got the setup for the next scene–more kilt-wearing hunks, only human kinds, and more conflict. And then the next scene–well, that’s how it goes.

I’ve been inundated with links today, where I’m at, so I’m going to list them here. I may end up updating them again later. 🙂 I have reheated my water for my tea twice, and still haven’t had a sip! LOL It’s going to be a wild romp through the jaguar jungle!

Jessie’s Review on USA TODAY

“I love cat shifters, so Jaguar Fever was a fun read, and although I didn’t read the first book, Savage Hunger, I understood the storyline, though I will be going back to read the first. Wade (hero) is also hot, very alpha and has a laser focus when it comes to Maya. As with all of Terry’s books, the love scenes are hot and blush-worthy. Her Heart of the Wolf series is also steamy.”

And Sara and I are at USA TODAY also here!

Jaguar Fever Releases Tomorrow! & Amazon Interview!

Though most stores already have them in stock!

And the post is up with the Q/A from Amazon’s interview of me at RWA Nationals if you’d like to check it out!

Also was working on a new cover for Goddess in Training. It’s a short novella, but I wanted to show more what it’s about, so I changed covers for the story. What do you think? I’m also working on a new one for the Genie’s Wish. Hopefully, that one will be just as beautiful. 🙂

What do you think? This is only 99 cents at B&N and Amazon, Kobo, Smashwords, etc. so if you want a fun, quirky, sexy read… it’s yours for under a dollar! Cheaper than that Starbucks coffee fix!

In a game of the gods, librarian Lisandra, who has never been loved, is chosen to be the goddess of fertility. The demi-god of pleasure, Assarian is ordered by Zeus to train her in the hallowed halls of Mount Olympus to prove to his wife, Hera, goddess of marriage, mortals and immortals alike only need be physically satisfied to find fulfillment, to which Hera disagrees—all creatures must have love to be whole. ~~~I loved Greek Mythology when I was growing up, but just like with werewolves and vampires, I wanted to see a happily ever after between the Greek Gods and Goddesses and the mortals they toyed with.

And this one for $1.99: Seducing the Huntress

The vampire Sarzoven and his sister are bored with life so a death-defying game of seducing the huntress is an attempt at eliminating boredom. But Miranda isn’t about to be seduced by the vampire no matter how sexy he is, not when he’s on her terminal list. Sarzoven soon realizes she’s a dark huntress, who doesn’t eliminate a rogue vampire until she’s sure he or she is truly a renegade.

So why is he on her list? Now he must convince her to remove him from her elimination schedule before she decides he really is a rogue. Miranda knows she can’t permit the vampire from swaying her from her mission, but soon she finds she’s on someone else’s list. But who’s behind this twisted game that’s bound to stir up vampire and hunter hatred alike? And can the huntress and vampire overcome their age old distrust of one another before it’s too late?

And I continued to work on The Highlander!

And I started on Guthrie’s story. But I had to stop because a red hornet was attacking me. See why I like to write about adventure and suspense? I have it in my own house! 🙂

I’ll be shipping off some contest wins later this afternoon! And approved two more audio books, so they’ll be going into final review now: The Deadly Fae and The Accidental Highland Hero. Taming of the Wild Highlander should be out soon.

Have a lovely Monday!!!

Winners for Last Week & What’s Coming Next!

I have over 12,000 written for The Highlander! Just had to get that out of the way. Excited. Need to begin writing A Highland Wolf Christmas also.

The Highlander

She’s the one he’s looking for, but she denies it.

Can’t wait to show off the cover for A Highland Wolf Christmas also. And A Hero of a Highland Wolf! They’re working on them and they’re GORGEOUS.

I’ll be going to the readers’ conference, Authors After Dark, soon in Savannah, Georgia. I’ll be doing a variety of things–taking a steamboat ride, going on a ghost hunter’s tour–using paranormal equipment, attending a vampire’s ball, an elemental ball, and I just learned we have to dress up for a formal event. And I’ll be speaking of 4 panels about historical stuff, paranormal stuff, military stuff and other stuff.

I’ll probably wear something like this for the formal like I wore at the Fantasy, Futuristic, and Paranormal Southern Gothic Ball in Atlanta at Nationals.

You know, the usual stuff! For a paranormal author who is attending a readers’ conference for paranormal types.

Isn’t that fun???

The problem always is–what do you wear???

It’s not your usual–it’s going to be hot out, dress cool and comfortable type of event for a summer visit to a southern state.

Unfortunately, my clothes for one won’t do for another. *sigh*

Unless I was a real vampire and just wore my vampire black evening wear to the formal ball. If anyone wanted to take me to task for wearing the same formal attire, I’d just bare my very real fangs.

Fantasy, Futuristic, and Paranormal Conference, New Orleans. Who says you can’t catch the image of a vampire??? Complements of Bonnie and her special effects camera. Who, by the way, is off to another ghostly adventure. Last time she and I got together, we witnessed the bouncing truck in front of one haunted building in New Orleans.

My elemental costume isn’t dressy enough, or vampirish enough to wear to the formal and none of them are dressed down enough to wear on the steamboat ride or the ghoulish walk through the cemetery looking for ghostly spirits.

And that means–I’m still trying to figure out my wardrobe, hoping I haven’t forgotten everything I’m supposed to bring for other events and such!

In the meantime, I’m back to the blog tour tomorrow and more giveaways to come!

Another Giveaway!–Brooklyn Ann’s Blog

Waterfall at Galveston’s Moody Gardens

Tuesday Jaguar Fever releases!!! If you’ve read Savage Hunger and you see a waterfall, what does it remind you of? Well, no waterfall scenes like that in Jaguar Fever, but the cats still love to play in water. And in Jaguar Hunt, there is a waterfall scene!  But much, much different from Savage Hunger’s. But I’m not telling…

I’m here today at Brooklyn Ann’s site talking about researching big cats with a free giveaway–signed copy of Savage Hunger!

So be sure and drop by and comment!

I just finished the 2nd round of edits on Silence of the Wolf–*sigh* Tom…

And I’m off to a new adventure. Hmm, I keep thinking of Highlanders of old, of hawk fae, and of Guthrie MacNeill and Calla Stewart and how they’re going to first start out their story.

Which means even though I finished A Hero of a Highland Wolf, which is with readers now, I’m totally back to the beginning.

Starting the books. 🙂

Have a super Saturday!! And be sure to drop by and comment on Brooklyn’s blog for a chance at a signed copy of Savage Hunger!

And for everyone who comments on my blog here today, a chance at winning an ebook copy of Highland Rake!

So my question to you, if you’ve been reading the Highland Medieval stories, The Highlander is about the MacNeill’s cousin, and he needs to find the love of his life. Course, he only is thinking of adventure, fighting, a guy thing. Marrying a sweet lassie is the farthermost thing from his mind. What do you think will help change his mind?

If you’re reading the wolf stories, Guthrie is attending one of Calla’s parties she gets paid to coordinate–acting as her bodyguard along with a couple of other of his clansmen. This is in Scotland, so what kind of party should it be?

If you’re reading the YA fae series, who do you think the dragon fae should end up with?

And that’s it! I’m off to spread the word about the giveaways, start a story, and hope you all have a lovely Saturday!
