Never see little frogs in the garden so was excited to find him!
Well, we’ve got rain. And lots of it. And wind. And thunder. Perfect for a frog prince.
Wrote 3,000 words yesterday, finished one bear of a two-bear order, and need to do several more. But right now, it’s pouring out, and I need to move my dogs’ vaccinations date to later. I don’t think I can manage in the pouring rain with a broken toe this morning!
This popped up in my yard and I wondered if it was good or bad. It’s goldenrod, a wildflower, not ragweed, an allergy producing bad plant. So good. Yay!
Still dealing with a bruised and swollen foot. Elevation and ice are helping. I have it down right now and it’s beginning to throb, so need to get it up. Shoulder is killing me. But I think I slept better last night. Go figure! I probably was so exhausted, I finally slept.
I don’t have my granddaughter today, no way could I have managed. I’m working on bears and Cougar Halloween! It’s cool out and I want to work on the flowerbeds. *sigh*

This was a really fun story to write. Years ago, I began writing Christmas stories for my publisher. The biggest problem I have is figuring out what to give to the hero and heroine for Christmas. Heck, I have trouble figuring that out for family. At least they give me Amazon lists. Now, wouldn’t that be neat if my characters did that for me?
I’m off to get busy. A worse than usual night because I ran into a bookcase trying to get around the barking dogs when the yardman came to the door last night to say I didn’t need to have my yard mowed yet. Wasn’t that nice? I just love the new service. They’re great. But man, I was in pain. Swollen and bruised little toe, probably broken again. I was wearing sandals when I broke it while working at the library and was trying to reach the ringing phone and caught my little toe on the metal cart full of books some years ago. I couldn’t wear regular shoes forever.
So between my aching shoulder and my aching toe, it was not a good night for sleeping. Even so, I’m off to write, make bears, and maybe not weed in the garden today, but will try to keep my foot elevated.

I was watching a series about miracles and in one case a cat, which is unusual, warned the family about a gas leak. The couple had had surgery, her foot surgery, him a triple bi-pass and they were sleeping 18 hours a day. The cat was banging at the door to be let out and then finally convinced the woman to follow her where there was a strong odor of gas coming up from the ground. She called the gas company, the guy checks the meter, no problem.
No, wait, check the air where the cat had been digging at the lava rocks, her paws bloodied, and that’s when he found out the danger they were in. They had methane poisoning, and if a spark had gone off, 6-8 houses could have blown up on that one line.
Pets can save lives.
Well, with that note, I’m off to proof some more on You Had Me at Wolf, coming out in February!

Eight-thousand words on the novella! Yay. Love to write novellas. They make me feel like I’m really getting something done. A third of the way done!
More weeding. I was pulling out some more of the zinnia and I found a little green frog clinging to one of them, so naturally, I had to grab my camera. I NEVER see frogs. Just toads, so I was thrilled. And I found a bumblebee on the esparanza yellow flowers, so got a couple of shots of him. And a yellow flower that I hadn’t seen before. Bad weed or good flower? I’ll have to upload and share to find out. I also found pine tree saplings and more crepe myrtles growing where they can’t be.
Okay, I’ve got writing, proofing, weeding, and a million chores to do. There’s a sale on some different fur that I want to check out too at Hobby Lobby. And need to make up some more bears.

I knew more of this would be coming, but I’ve had such a horrible time at sleeping because my shoulder/arm hurts all night long, that I’m so tired all day I’m not getting half of what I need to get done, done.
I took two Ibuprofen last night to see if that would help, and I think it did some. So maybe I can get back on track with sleep and productivity!
I need to finish up Jade Bear, but I need to find a paisley ribbon if I can and then add the names on the paws.
And I made up another bear for a possible sale, but it was too dark last night when I finished it to take a photo of it, so I will today.
I got You Had Me at Jaguar proofing last night in, so need to do that also. And I wrote 700 words on Cougar. Since yesterday was a baby day, I don’t usually have much time to do anything else but take care of her. And then when she goes home, I’m usually too tired to do a whole lot. lol
I was working on the bear a couple of times while she was here on Wednesday and Friday and I showed her the bear ears and placed them against my head and then on hers. Her newest word is: “Cool.” She loves all the bears sitting around but she’s good about understanding that those are Grandma’s bears, not hers to play with.
It’s cold out! Yay!!! It’s all relative. What’s freezing for us (51 degrees when we’ve been 75 in the mornings) is warm to others. With 98 highs, and then now 70 highs that feel colder by a few degrees is a huge change. But I love it.
Okay, I’m off to do something productive, yet, I want to go back to sleep. If I could.
She will be going to her forever home soon in Texas.
Well, this is a goofed up weather day. It said we’d have a low of 51, so I’m expecting it this morning. Like it usually is. Lower temperature in the morning, higher in the afternoon. I even dressed warm to try and see the owls that were hooted all over the neighborhood at 4:30 this morning. (Shoulder hurt all night long and gave up on trying to sleep since I need to be up by 5 for granddaughter.)
But nope. 76 this morning, dropping throughout the day. By 3 pm it will feel like 59 instead of 61 and it will continue to drop. It’s welcome, just unexpected!

So I’m off and running! In the muggy heat this morning… Twelve bear orders stacked up all of a sudden. lol It’s time for Christmas.
And I rewrote the beginning of Cougar Halloween Mischief. I couldn’t decide which way to go with the story, and went with what I hope is the most dramatic.
The owls hooting all over the neighborhood this morning, one near me in the trees, cannot see them for the life of me, and way off in the distance, other owls hooting, but I sure wish I could see them. There must have been about four. I love owls and just wish I knew what kind they were.
It’s really important if you have a million goals like I do to keep making progress at whatever you’re doing. Since it’s cooled down a little, I’ve been weeding and weeding and weeding and it’s getting there. I can’t do it all at once, but I keep working at it. I have another four 40-gallon bags out for the trash again with spent zinnias and tons of grass hiding among them that I couldn’t reach for the zinnia. I had that many out for Monday’s trash too.
So it’s getting better! Just keep working at it. I also planted mondo grass last night, trying to find a way to have something evergreen that fills in where the weeds are growing. Hope it works. That’s also the important thing. If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. It could be that this plant doesn’t, but something else will.
I redid a cover for one of my novellas. I’ve had several for it but I haven’t liked anything else I’ve done or purchased in the past, so hopefully this one will be the one. It’s for a vampire romantic suspense.
And I was designing the cover for the Cougar Halloween Mischief novella. I was working on the story also. Got my first 1,000 words. Since my novellas are shorter, about 25-30K, I’m excited to get a start! For those of you who are following the cougar shifters of Yuma Town, Colorado, this is about Ricky Jones and the horrible, awful, wonderful, beautiful Friday the 13th where his world is again turned upside down before Halloween. Now if I could stay out of the garden long enough to concentrate on it… But man, the garden needs lots more tender, loving care. It’s getting there though!
This morning, I went to test out my shoulder, hand behind back, upward movement, and YAY!!! It’s sooooooooo much better. Last night, I tried it and it was bad. So I thought I was backsliding. After lifting a 28 lb toddler all day, my shoulder was killing me. This morning, when normally I try to pull my arm up behind my back, I could do it higher, but only for a second and the pain is excruciating. Today, I was able to move it to that spot for 10 times for 10 second holds. It hurt, but it was doable. Yay!!! And with a yoga strap, I think I even was able to get it higher for about 5 repetitions with 10 second holds. So I’m making progress!
I have someone coming to clean my gutters. I took my 6 foot ladder out to clean them myself and realized I needed a 10 foot ladder to do the job. ugh. Last tropical storm, I had a torrent of water built up in the gutters gushing over the top, so hopefully, this will take care of that! And I got a new guy to mow the lawn. My neighbor’s son got a job and we had another neighbor kid doing the yard. He broke a fence panel in my gate that I still need to have fixed. So this guy looks like he’ll be my go to yardman now.
Before I turn this into a book, I’m out of here.

I’ve been so busy with my books, I haven’t had time for bears. Pink Rainbow Bear is on her way to California, Merlin Wizard is on his way to Australia. The others are some that I made up and are looking for homes.
My granddaughter should be here any minute, so I need to run!
