So my granddaughter and I took a walk, danced to Baby Shark music, naturally, played chase, hide and seek, read stories, worked on the letter P, watched movies, explored the backyard, got scared by a butterfly and ran into the house and shut the door to protect herself, and finally at 2:45, she crashed. I had to wake her at 4:30 to go home with her daddy and when she went home, she told her mommy she was too tired to play.
Score 1 for Grandmommy!
And I received proofing for Joy to the Wolves, so I’m back to that, need to do promo blogs for Night of the Billionaire Wolf, and jump back on Red Wolf again!
I would make sure everyone was able to be tested for Coronavirus. And impose a two-weekend quarantine on everyone who has it. Then and only then can we go back to work!
You know how it’s supposed to go, right? You are in the hospital sick with it–survive–yay! And are self-quarantined. BUT, and this is key, everyone you had close contact with should be also. HOWEVER, the way it works is one is in the hospital, sent home, self-quarantined, and then everyone learns of it–good, BUT then nobody else is required to self-quarantine, get tested, nada, nothing, zilch. Keep working. Not at home. At work! You see how this works, right?
Head Buried in Sand–I don’t hear you
We’re not testing. We don’t want to test–what we don’t know won’t hurt us, right? If we don’t test, we can pretend we look great. We don’t have any issues. We’re safe. We don’t have it. It doesn’t exist here. It never existed here. It doesn’t affect us. Nothing like NYC will happen to us. Nothing like New Orleans–which people from here went there during Mardis Gras, folks, so listen up…will happen to us.
But we didn’t bring it home from there or anywhere else in the world, or anywhere else in the States because we don’t have it. We’re immune. That’s right. Really! Truly! We don’t have it. Seriously. If we don’t test for it, we can all go back to work and play together and not share anything because it doesn’t exist.
Now, see, I write fantasy–contemporary, our world, shifters living in it. I can make up anything I want. The bad guys die. The good guys live. It’s a great world.
But the virus we don’t have can’t kill the characters I love.
The virus we don’t have can kill any age, anybody, good or bad in the REAL world.
I’m sorry to say that what you don’t know CAN kill you.
I applaud those governors that are concerned about the health of their citizens. Three cheers for them. TEST! Then go back to work.

Okay, I think I missed posting yesterday. I’m confused on my days because I’m not taking care of my granddaughter 2 days a week since I work at home every day. It’s like one day melts into another. So I went to put out the garbage yesterday, but no one had the garbage out. Whoops. It was still just Wednesday. But today, I have to get it out.
I’m taking care of my granddaughter tomorrow because her parents are both working and she is clingy. My daughter is in charge of all the food distribution for the schools in the district and it’s been a real job, especially since they’re doing evening meals also and stressful. So Grandma needs to help out.
Anyway, so little one will be here with me all day. I still need to write.
Polar Bear Playing in the Water
Okay, I’m off to work. I need 4,000 more to be half way through minimum word count. That’s 40K.
Have a good day, as good as you can have in these trying situations. I am NOT going to look at the news today. Not until tonight. Let’s see how long that lasts. But I need to write and the news is so bad it’s making it difficult for me to concentrate on what I need to do.
We had a lovely Easter yesterday. My granddaughter wanted to hug on me for the longest time–we hadn’t seen each other in forever. I have been taking care of her since she was a day old and once she was 3 months old, began taking care of her 2 days a week for 3 years. So it was hard to be separated from her for so long.
Her parents are eager for me to take care of her again. lol They’re both working from home. I told them give me a week and then we can try it. I am stuck on my book, so I want to get a little further on it before I have to cut out 2 days from my writing schedule a week again. And with them going to the grocery store again, I’m concerned about them picking up the virus and sharing it with me.
Hope you all are having a good weekend. We’re supposed to have thunderstorms starting at around 7 am and they’ll end around noon. So today is a writing day for me. Have a good one!
We’re celebrating Easter this afternoon because of storms coming in tonight and tomorrow. This is the first time I’ve been able to see my granddaughter in a month. My daughter came over yesterday and brought over some plastic Easter eggs. I filled them with rubber duckies a friend had given me whose daughter no longer wanted them. My granddaughter loves rubber duckies.
I also got her the game Candy Land and a couple of stuffed Snoopys, Easter style.
Anyway, that means I need to run, wash the dogs, vacuum and set out Easter eggs–my daughter told hers that the Easter bunny was going to Grandma’s house, so it wouldn’t do having her see Grandma putting them out.
And I need to cook lunch.
I thought I was going to have this all broken up over two days. lol
I love it when fans send me pictures of my books with their precious pets. Isn’t Cassie adorable? I had to share.
We had a big storm last night and so this morning I was picking up about 20 lbs worth of tree branches and twigs. A circle of 4 of the neighbors have old growth forest, so it looks like we are the only ones getting all the downed branches! Pine tree branches, not sure what the others are, but any big wind and they’re all over the back and front yards. And I have tons of pine needles on my driveway that I still need to gather up to use as mulch on my flowerbeds.
Tanner was barking like crazy, warning me there were all kinds of trespassers. Max wanted on my lap for protection.
Okay, so I’m still behind on Red Wolf. One of my friends said I need to give myself a break. But deadlines, deadlines. I’m also working on updating two fantasy books with new covers and need to turn Vampire Redemption into a print book along with the two fantasy books. This is all good for me. It takes my mind off of not getting anywhere with the current work-in-progress and all the bad news. I keep checking not wanting to, but hoping there’s some good news out there.
It’s time to get to work. Have a great day and stay safe!
And it kind of snowballed from there. I really, really wanted to get the price change in for Winning the Highlander’s Heart for iBooks. I have a Book Bub ad coming up and I had to change the price on there. It was one of those lingering had-to-do things that was nagging at me.
Well, I couldn’t remember the password for the MacBook, which was why I had delayed on changing the price on iBooks. I already changed it on all the other sites. So I had to look it up on the internet. Why it has to be such a rigamarole to change a password is beyond me. And I was trying to write my blog in the morning. And I was going to pull up my mss from my laptop in my email so I could begin working on my 2,000 daily word count.
I also wanted to updated the cover on Scepter of Salvation and Mage of Monrovia.
Then the internet went down.
No internet, no TV, you’d think I’d write more, right?
Nope. My home phone wasn’t working. My cell phone wasn’t able to access stuff that it should have on Blue Tooth. It was like I was in a vacuum, in the fae world, and they were having the time of their lives hassling me.
I was on my cell phone to my internet provider to figure out what was going on.
A messenger tells me that because of Covid-19 I don’t have to pay my bill for 60 days and I won’t be cut off. Good. Then why don’t I have my internet? The messenger tells me that because of Covid-19, there could be long delays on speaking to a representative. Fine. I’ll wait.
The messenger said, “Instead of waiting, I can text you a link to our website. There may be texting charges.”
“No!”
That’s all I’d need was a charge for a text message to give me the link to the website when I could very well look it up myself IF MY INTERNET WAS WORKING!
Long delay. “Okay, well we will check to see if there’s a problem.”
Another long delay. “Your internet is not working.”
Yep, like I said.
“We have technicians in your area working on it. It will be up by 5 a.m. tomorrow morning.”
Great!
Okay so it finally began working on my laptop early evening, yay, instead of this morning. I went full-speed ahead to try and get all the things done I had planned earlier that day. But then I was having issues with getting back on the Mac, then with Vellum, that I use for ebook formatting and I decided I really needed a do-over day.
Even stopping to play Divinity Original Sin2, which I realized I hadn’t played for 2 years, not last year, meant getting killed by the Shriekers twice. Enough already!
See why I need the internet? Clues for the game even!
I finally figured out what the issue is with Vellum over the cover this morning and fixed the files, I got into the Mac last night and printed out the dumb instructions so I wouldn’t have to go searching for this every time it happens–it also has to do with keychain issues when trying to get into iTunes Producer after dealing with how to get back into the computer to change the password.
Life needs to be simpler.
Have a super great day and stay safe! Oh, and I caught up on the day before’s word count, but now I’m a 1,000 behind on yesterdays. So much for writing more when nothing is working!
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern offered reassurances to the children of New Zealand, announcing that the Easter bunny and the tooth fairy had been designated essential workers. She cautioned that, because of distancing rules, “the Easter bunny might not make it everywhere this year.”~~New York Times
When my son was in kindergarten, I was on-call for helping out with any activities the kids were involved in. So I got a call to help hide Easter eggs at the elementary school. Some of his classmates saw me and said, “Your mom’s here hiding Easter eggs!”
There was Blaine with most of the class watching at the window, their noses and hands pressed against the glass as I “hid” the eggs. Which meant just scattering them all over the freshly mowed grass. When I picked him up from school that afternoon, he was so excited. I had helped the iguanas hide the Easter eggs.
“Iguanas?”
“Yes, they were in charge of laying the eggs.”
“Kiwanis?”
“No, iguanas, Mommy. They lay eggs.”
So that year I helped the iguanas put out the Easter eggs. They might not be essential workers this year. Then again, there isn’t any school.
I did my walk today, more people out than usual. I went to the grocery store on Sunday, so I’m home for two weeks, just in case I picked up anything while out. Three weeks if I can hold out that long.
Hope you all are doing well. Breathe in, breathe out (in isolation), stay safe.
So I admit it! I HAD to go to the grocery store. I needed dishwasher soap, forgot to get it last time, so stocked up on more vegetables and–yes, of course, last chance to get my favorite Cadbury eggs. It’s nearly Easter. What can you expect?
If I don’t have long to live–who ever knows, right?–I want to have my favorite Easter treat before it’s too late.
They did have plexi-glass up to help protect the clerks at checkout. I’m so glad for that and hope it really helps.
I didn’t get very far on my writing yesterday, only 1,300. I did play one battle in Divinity–Original Sin 2. I had finished the first game, figured out how to make myself nearly invincible in that one and loved it, great ending, but then I had so many deadlines that I never got back to finish the 2nd game. Everything is different in that one, so I couldn’t use the same strategy. Darn it. But I’m at the last leg of the journey, I believe, so having fun relearning how to do all this stuff that I haven’t done in over a year. I need to finish it because it’s taking up a lot of storage on my computer that I don’t have–doesn’t that sound like a great excuse?
But first, I need to get to my writing. I’m kind of stuck or I would have had more done yesterday. Plus, I was editing, added new scenes which meant eliminating others, so I didn’t get as much word count.
I tried not to watch the news too late last night. It gave me nightmares the night before. The morning news is so unbelievable, I’m so angry about what’s going on, but I need to press on and do what I can to not help to cause the spread of the virus if I should get it and pray that everyone else can live through this…despite the dire predictions.
And I’m back to the new count of staying home. I did walk around the neighborhood this morning.
On a hot day, it was time for two robin juveniles to pop into the fountain and take a bath. I rarely see robins, and only occasionally sitting far away on the fence–like maybe once or twice a year. So imagine my delight when two juveniles decided to have fun in the fountain.
Forget writing! It was time for picture taking.
Hope you are staying safe. I was trying to figure out a mask this morning, but don’t really have anything but a painter’s mask for when I was painting some outdoor furniture.
