Interesting Duck

They had some of the most interesting ducks at the Japanese gardens in Houston. I hope to go back some time when we don’t have a pandemic to deal with!

I managed to edit A Date with a Wolf, need to read it through again and check over for any more mistakes and write a Letter to the Reader. I was thinking about it at 4 am this morning, not something I want to be doing at 4 am! I also managed to write 5,000 words on Saving the White Cougar. It’s at the halfway point on word count, yay!

After the big zoo trip the night before last, when little one came over for 5 1/2 hours, she was so tired. As soon as they got in that night, they said she woke from her car ride, it was 10, but she still wanted her regular routine, bath, book time, and so they sped it up. But it was still so late.

That meant, she just wanted to chill and watch stories when she was here yesterday and I could write. Yay!

I have edits that came in on Jingle Bells Wolf–don’t like the title, but what can I say?

And I hope to do that and get writing in. I normally can’t but with writing for words against monsters, I’m able to get a lot more done, and can still do lots more other stuff. Like comb out the dogs and watch movies.

I started a weird scifi series last night. Tanner is so matted from not combing him when my son was here, so I will need to keep working on it until he’s dematted. I love non-shedding breeds, but then the matting can be an issue.

All right, no more chitchat, got to get to writing–monsters to chase away, cougar battles to fight, Arctic wolf battles to fight, jingle bells wolves to edit… My day is full.

Black Bear

I took this picture of a black bear at the Waco zoo and added textures.

So last night, we had fun going to the Christmas lighted Houston Zoo. I wish we could have seen the animals too but we had a blast in any event. I took pictures of ducks before it got too dark.

My son-in-law’s pictures for nighttime are much better than my Samsung’s. The worst part is I was wearing a mask and every time I went to take a photo with my camera, my viewer fogged up, plus I was having a time finding the focus ring using gloves. What can I say? I live in Texas. I don’t often have to wear gloves! But it was cold last night.

So not only is my granddaughter coming over for 5 hours while my daughter and SIL celebrate their anniversary, I’ve got edits on Jingle Bells Wolf to do. Ugh. So other writing will have to be put on hold. I had planned on writing all weekend.

Battling to Write

So I woke to having this idea about another story. I know. I know. Too many stories. But it was about the white cougar a fan had sent me , and so I had to write it, and I had to write on the new white wolf book to get my daily word count. I ended up with about 5200 words on White Wolf and 3300 on Saving the White Cougar. It’s going to be a novella so it will be around 27,000. And I was working on edits on Primal Desire.

Okay, so I’m getting a slow start this morning. I shouldn’t read the news. I had been thinking of the cougar story before I got up and I should have just started writing instead.

I know better. Often I’ll just check the news at night before I go to bed. Right. That’s a bad time to read it too. In fact, anytime is bad to read the news!!

We had a hard frost awhile back when everything was blooming. We’re getting freezing temperatures coming up. Everything is already blooming.

I Love My Fans!

One of my fans sent me an article about a white cougar, extremely rare, that was caught on video in Brazil. I’ll include it in an upcoming story.

So I managed 5000+ words yesterday, remembered to pick up my granddaughter at daycare and we took our regular walk. She tells me that Christmas is over–when she sees all the people’s decorations up still. lol

And someone left a water bottle on the ground. And someone let their dog poop on the sidewalk. We talked about her school, as we don’t call it daycare. New place where they wear masks and they actually do pre-school.

“We’re not supposed to talk,” she tells me every time. It’s school. It’s good that she’s learning that for when she goes to kindergarten.

“Did you read anything?”

“An animal book.”

“What kind of animals?”

“I don’t want to say.”

“Dogs, cats?”

“Nope.”

“Farm animals? Cows, sheep?”

“No. Zoo animals. Bears, penguins and giraffes.”

“Oh, how neat!”

“Do you know any kid’s names?”

“No. But I knew the ones from my daycare.” She’s still sad about that, but she does love this one. They were working on planets last time. Now it’s oceans, so I need to work with her on the ocean theme when she’s with me.

I’m over halfway done on proofing A Date with a Wolf. Once I’m finished, I’ll send it to my beta readers and get to work on White Wolf. I’m still editing Primal Desire also, but need to get my word count in on the wolf book. 🙂

I’m off to do it. No more putting it off, yet, I need to get my tea first. lol

Blue Jay Art

I love the blue jays. They can be noisy, but they’re beautiful to look at.

Don’t you hate it when you can’t sleep? I’ve read if you can’t, you should get up and do something else, then try again later.

Well, I’m up and slowly trying to get started. Blog, get some hot tea, and begin taking dogs out, in, feeding them, out, in, and off to write.

I managed 2500 words on White Wolf, and another 4000 on Primal Desire yesterday. I think I need to write 2 more scenes and expand on another on Primal Desire. I’m about halfway through editing it.

I finished editing A Date with a Wolf yesterday, so now I’ll have to just read it straight through this weekend. And maybe I’ll have Primal Desire done by then too.

We’ll have another warm afternoon today, then temperatures dropping again. I have flowers blooming, crepe myrtles leafing out, my garden is confused.

Love the cardinals.

So it’s back to babysitting and we were doing the letter S and counting in 10s and reading books. I managed to get 500 words done before she got here. Hoping to get more done when she naps and after she goes home.

We’re going to talk about the weather, days of the week, months. And I’ll have her help me create a Photoshop picture from Oscraps.

I managed 2,000 on the new White Wolf book and finished the scenes for A Date with a Wolf yesterday–for a total of 5700 words. Today is my off day for word count on the deadline book but I always try to get 500-1,000 done on my days off. I was working on edits and a new scene today on Primal Desire. 🙂

In Baldur’s Gate, I finally took out the Harpys–but one of my characters died and then I was supposed to bring him back, but when I tried, all my characters died of poison. So I quit the game and went back to work on the stories!

Okay, off to read some stories.

I’m late on blogging. I was trying to get this picture done, but also writing some final scenes in A Date with a Wolf–the novella for the 10th anniversary release of Silence of the Wolf coming out in December. I need to write one more scene, but I’m also doing a bunch of edits on it, then once that’s done, I need to read through it all over again. But, I’m going to work on White Wolf to get my 2,000 word count in on it today also. I already have 2240 words on A Date with a Wolf today. It’s nearly at 30K.

Once I’m “done” with it, I’ll let it sit for a day or so, and then reread it all the way through again and edit it again. Then I can turn it over to my beta readers. After more edits, I can turn it in to my publisher.

As soon as I’m through with edits, I’m going to write the last scene, fighting this little guy. I need to fight 6 more of him to finish the next quest.

Tomorrow, it’s back to business as usual. Except I’ll have little one back. So I’ll have to work on my story around the time she’s here.

It will be a busy year ahead, unless I get horribly sidetracked!

Pretty Little Bluebird

Said goodbye to my son this morning. I don’t know when we’ll be able to get together again, things being what they are, but we had a lovely visit for two weeks!

He has a 15-hour drive, so we got up really early to have donuts and coffee/tea, with my daughter and then he was off.

I’m off to write, but we’ve been going to bed so late and my internal alarm clock won’t shut off, so I’m up still really early every morning. It will be nice to get on more of a regular schedule and try to get closer to 8 hours of sleep. The last few nights it’s been 4 or 5 hours and that’s just not enough!

I decided to add a prologue to Primal Desire, and maybe an epilogue so off to chase off a monster.

Happy New Years!

Well, sort of! Hoping for a better year this year!

Taking down all the Christmas decorations, my son will be leaving tomorrow, and life in the shadow of the pandemic continues.

We have hope, and I want to think the best of people, but when a Wisconsin pharmacist destroys 500 doses of the vaccine for whatever insane reason, you gotta wonder what the world is coming to. If he doesn’t want to get vaccinated, fine, but why destroy the hope for others who want and need it? It’s essentially domestic terrorism when we’re in a battle against a virus that has killed at least 346,000 people in the States alone. And that’s not even the true numbers. If people die at home of the virus, they’re not counted. And for other deaths, they don’t test to see if they had the virus when they died. So you have to wonder how many have really died.

How is that acceptable in any stretch of the imagination?

Hope you all stay safe! That work can resume, and everyone can return to a more normal world in the new year.
