December 1st–Christmas Stories–Never Give Up, Never Surrender

Starting in December, some authors will have Christmas short stories to share. So be sure to drop in and enjoy!

This is one of the Christmas Santas I make with a mohair beard, mohair bear and tapestry cloak.

Okay, off to start the story at the REAL beginning. I always think of famous scientists who work and work and work on finding cures or what not, and they don’t just have that breakthrough on the first trial. At least, most don’t. Sometimes it’s the same for me when I’m writing the beginning of a story. I don’t know the characters at all. And as I’m writing, I realize they need a different beginning. 🙂

The same thing for photography. I was watching a DIY venture into creating hearts or other shapes for bokeh. And in this, the DIYer was showing the mistakes he made in his first trial and error attempts at creating this–first in cutting out his shapes: too big, too ragged (not clean enough cut edges), and then when taking the pictures–not having a good light source to create the bokeh.

The same can be said for life. My hard mineral water was leaving awful water marks on the shower glass. I’ve tried a ton of different methods to clean it off. After cleaning off a lot of it, I have been using a squeegy to remove the water after every shower to try prevent the water (minerals) from making more of a mess. That really helps.

So for writing, I have to remind myself, sometimes the beginning isn’t really the beginning. The rest I’ve written often just needs to be moved further along. Or, sometimes it just needs to be tossed as it doesn’t work for my new vision.

I’m not for sure until I begin to write the new beginning. And will it work this time? Who knows! Maybe. But that is only the beginning.

NEVER Stop Believing…

In SEAL Wolf in Too Deep, he really has a time telling her about who he really is. So remember that. If you’re strictly human, your other half might not be, but is just reluctant to tell you about his/her other side. They deserve all your love no matter what.

Colorful Birds at the Mall

And how birds of a feather, sleep together. 🙂

Some Weird Looking Squirrel

woodpecker and white bear 108 (640x357)That’s what Tanner was thinking. He’s used to seeing a squirrel, never pays any attention to the birds unless a blue jay or dove is up there, but the woodpecker is something altogether different. It just didn’t look like the normal kind of squirrel at all.

Sold the Pink Mohair Bear and Bunny!

puppies and pink mohair bear and bunny 008 (640x420)Still on the hunt for my bear patterns. These were already sewn up, but needed to be put them together. But I sold 5 of them, and so now only have one pink bunny left. UNLESS I can find the remaining parts to another. I have one leg, 1 bear ear, half a bear ear, and a body. Hmmmm. I am so sure it has to do with the fae.

Oh, oh, oh, I found my bear patterns! I had put them in a special place so they wouldn’t get lost. Naturally. I had looked in the decorative boxes full of decorative stuff several times, but had no place to put the decorator pieces until a shelf is repaired that was damaged in the move. I finally began to remove the items just in case the patterns were in the bottom of the boxes, and yes!!! They were. So once I set my sewing machine up, I’m back in business!

Or so I thought. The electric cord for the cabinet wouldn’t reach the outlet, had to find an extension cord. Found the foot pedal. Couldn’t find the power cord to the sewing machine. After some searching through all the cords I found that I have no idea what they go to, I found it! My sewing machine is so old I was afraid I couldn’t order a new one. But I had looked and I saw where someone said they had ordered one because they had moved and they couldn’t find their cord. Then found it. Sound familiar? At least I didn’t order it. And then it wouldn’t reach the outlet and had to find another extension cord. 🙂

So I’m back in business!

Taking a Break

So I added a 1,000 words to my WIP, though I wanted to get further. But I was messing with the taxes and had to turn those in, and so I decided I didn’t want to do anything but vegetate after I ran a bunch of errands and had to do a bunch of other stuff. That means I sat down to hem up jeans and finish making a mohair bear and bunny I had nearly finished before I moved while watching TV.

Ugh, Taxes & Missing Stuff

I’m only 5,000 words from my word count on The Viking’s Highland Lass, but have been alternating between working on it, and gathering my tax information, and unpacking boxes, which I started to do when I was looking for tax documents.

*sigh*

Then I realized I couldn’t find my tartan fabric, a whole tub was missing!

Then I found it! But then I’m missing my bear patterns. argh! Okay, so two are my most popular bears–the large one and the small one pictured here. You heard me, right? My most popular. I have an order for each size. I finally found my copyrighted pattern for the small bear, but I had to make adjustments to it because I’ve changed it up a lot. So now I have a second copy of the small bear pattern, yes! I still can’t find my large one, just a gusset and an ear does not a big bear make.

blue rainbow bear lying down with baby (640x427)I’ve gone through everything several times, looked through drawers, thinking I might have found them and it was a good idea to put them somewhere safe. Not.

I’ve unpacked all my boxes, but have three tubs that I don’t know what to do with that I unpacked from boxes, so every bit of them has been gone through, no patterns, but I will go back through them again. I even checked the plastic tubs in the garage, thinking that one of those was not REALLY a box of Christmas stuff. But it wasn’t out there.

You see now why I write about the fae, right???

All right already, your next book is coming, Golden Fae. Give me a break and if I don’t have to spend hours and hours and hours looking for bear patterns, guess what? I can be writing your story!

Hmm, do you think it will work? I don’t know. What I do know is that if if I quit looking for the patterns, I will run across it. But that could take years.
