Scotland the Brave Tartan Bear, Count Pandula (Sold),  Sunflower Bear (Sold), Wendy Witch Bear (Sold)

I always feel great when I have accomplished something! And lots of somethings! I tried to post my blog yesterday, but couldn’t . WordPress wouldn’t come up. Then I had some updates to Windows, Adobe, and I think it would have come up then. Everything was so sluggish before that, I could barely type on my manuscript or do anything without everything hanging up, freezing. Once I did all the updates and restarted my computer, everything was working. But it was so late in the day, I didn’t think it was worth it to blog. I have to remind myself when everything is acting up so badly, shut things down! And start over.

I also finished Cougar Magic! It’s off to my first beta reader. Now, I’m excited about a new development. I’ll be writing a brand new novella for the 10th anniversary of Destiny of the Wolf, the hugely popular Silver Town wolves series. I have a character in mind, someone who won’t impact on everyone else because I’ve written so many of the books in the series since then, it can’t change the world. But I also need to figure out a wildly exciting idea for the character so I can be off and running. He’s a nurse at the clinic of the wolf-run town. Keeps to himself. That’s the way I’d written him in the original book. So why does he keep to himself? What is his big secret? And who is the mystery woman who comes into his life and turns his whole world upside down?

In the meantime, I’m working on more bear orders–have to finish a few of the bears I’ve made (embroider paws), and am finishing up some more bears just to have on hand. I worked on Claiming the White Bear last night too–remember I left two little polar bear cubs on an ice floe? Well, I wrote about 1,000 words last night to add to that story today. But I need to get that novella started and finished in a hurry, so my publisher can edit it and then include it in the book. That has priority today and for the next couple of weeks. I finished my 2nd beta reader’s edits on Silver Wolves Making Spirits Bright yesterday also. I just am waiting for the last beta reader’s edits and then I’ll be sending it to my publisher.

I love it when I can’t get some things done. Right now, I have a growing list of bear orders, and my book deadlines are ever present, so it’s really nice when I can check them off my list.

These little bears are off to their new homes today.

I’m shipping 8 bears now, and I have to jump on my writing as soon as I get home because my daughter asked if I’d pick up the baby at daycare as she won’t be getting out in time from work.  Sooo, it’s already been a really hectic day after spending an hour on the phone with the IRS.

The babysitting is unscheduled, which means this afternoon I won’t get anything done.

I’ve been doing better at writing first thing in the morning and then working on bears. I have 4,000 words on the story and counting. My dad always said to get your work done first before you play (for us, that meant schoolwork), and it really is a good work ethic. I feel better doing the writing first, and then if I have time, I’ll get back to writing. I haven’t had time with all the bear orders though! But once they slow down, I’ll have time to write more in the afternoon.

All three Santa Bars and the Little Drummer Bear are going to their new homes on Monday!

Today, I’ll be finishing up Celeste Angel Bear, just finished a Purplelicious, and need to make two Santa bags filled with toys for the Santa Bears and then I’m sending them all off on Monday.

I have to deal with the IRS on Monday too. That’s the result of moving three years ago. They have to make sure I am who I am. A total pain for me, but it’s a safeguard too.

And, woohoo, I’m 2,000 into the story!!!! I started out with a murder victim, but my editor always gets after me for having a high body count in a Christmas story. So, *sigh*, I changed it so the person is just unconscious. It works, gives more drama to the story really. Then I thought I needed to change it to the heroine’s pov before she learns the ex-boyfriend has been attacked. New boyfriend is the sheriff and he learns the injured guy is the ex-boyfriend. Now, wolves are territorial, so this isn’t going to sit well with him. There will be a body count. I can’t help it. I write mystery, romantic suspense, and bodies just end up happening.

But you see, the beginning is never the beginning. And probably, as I learn more about the characters and the issues at hand, it will change again. No problem! Whatever makes for the best story is how it has to be.

Now that I’ve gotten back into the regimen for writing 2,000 words a day, there’s no slacking off!

I still have the head cold, but I took the shingles vaccine, 2nd shot, since it’s nearly six months that I took the initial. I was getting over strep throat that time–the problem with taking care of my grandbaby, who picks up everything. Anyway, this vaccine makes my muscles ache and I feel like I have the flu. I keep telling myself that this too shall pass. If you get the vaccine, be sure to get Shingrix, the latest version that has a much higher protection rate. The pharmacist told me that she had the older version and she’s had shingles twice. Others have told me the same. Her brother, who works for the CDC, said that she really needed to get the new one. My clinic only gives out the old version still, so if you get it, be sure you get the newer version. I had to go to my grocery store to get the new one, but you can get them at drugstores, Walmart and some grocery store pharmacies. Supposedly, there’s a shortage of it, but not at my grocery store. Probably, people don’t know it’s available there.

The effects of the vaccine and the hanging-on cold are not stopping me from getting a lot done, though I sort of vegetated for half a day yesterday after I got my word count because I had absolutely no energy and ached all over! But the rest of the afternoon, I worked on bear orders.

I missed my blog yesterday! I kept meaning to do it, but you know some days you’ve just got to get a million things done, and you call a place, are put on hold (forever), leave messages for another that never get answered, have to run errands and time is running out, and somehow in all that, I forgot to get the blog done first thing.

So today, first thing on the schedule, blog, and WordPress won’t upload the page. *sigh*

I have two angel bears I’m working on. One’s sold. Purplelicious–have two of those. One sold. Butterscotch is an order, and Pink Powder Puff bear (brand new fabric) is available.

Okay, I’m off to write. I began Silver Town Wolf Christmas, and today I have to get back to my word count goals. I’ll be finishing up one of the Purplelicious bears for an order, a panda and a Celtic Clan Bear are nearly done, and I’m nearly finished with another angel bear. See???? A little (a lot, who is she kidding???) of perseverance and WORK and it gets done!

I just had another order for a wizard bear too.

The same goes for writing!!! It doesn’t get done unless…hold that thought! The characters are playing out their own scene without me again.
