Weirder Weather

They say that the weather is going to keep getting weirder. That that’s the effect of global warming. It’s Weirder Weather time.

I believe it. I just hope we don’t have another hurricane or tropical storm in the area once the season hits us for that. That runs from June through November, but you know what they say. That’s for normal weather! We’re supposed to be at 70 today, 10 degrees just a couple of days ago and if that isn’t weird, I don’t know what is.

And the weather is just getting–weirder.

One of our previous storms and the clouds can be just beautiful

I’m still rewriting huge sections of the story that I thought were fine with the new earlier rewrites but now I can see they aren’t. So I’m rewriting, editing them again on paper at night and finding lots of corrections to make still. My goal was to have this totally rewritten and begin proofing today, but I’m probably just going to be rewriting all day and adding new scenes. I stripped away 8500 words yesterday, which is good, but I need to write another couple of scenes again. Maybe by Tuesday I will be at the proofing stages. I’ve been working at this every day for days from early in the morning until late at night. And it is getting better.

So I’m off to work. Late morning wake up–the first time ever for me–after a late night of edits and then ghostly, haunted dreams. Blinds down, doors locked, everyone staying in the same room, except for the person who just couldn’t sleep with the rest of us, and you know what happens to the person who has to go off on their own during a haunted session, right?

Anyway, I managed to stay alive until morning. Isn’t that great? I can write more books now! Or finish the ones nearly there.

Have a great day and stay safe! There are all kinds of things out there that can be way scarier than us.

Colder Inside than Outside

That means your house has good insulation, right? I was shocked to go outside and find it was 71 degrees out first thing. It is winter! Strong wind blowing, felt great, walked back inside and it feels like I have the air conditioner on. I don’t, but it felt like it. The temperature will drop again, but it’s just such a shock to be this warm, this early in the morning! In winter! My flowers think spring has sprung. I’m afraid we’re going to get a shock and end up in the Ice Age one of these mornings. Flagstaff, Arizona had the first major snowstorm, 36 inches of snow, they’ve had in 104 years, so, no telling!

I’m 2,000 words ahead on Wolff Brother and I hope to keep up the pace if I can. The more ahead I get, the less behind I get when I have to do more edits on other books that need final proofing and whatnot. And then I can start on the next deadline book.

So my friend tells me that her weather app shows it’s going to rain. Mine shows fog. I took the dogs out and got drenched. Her app was right.

Have a super lovely day. I’m writing while I’m drying out. So much for weather reports!

Fog and Christmas Lights

I like storms, as long as they don’t fill your house with water, tear down your trees or pull off your roofs, but a nice rainstorm clears the air, charges it with electricity, makes a change in the humdrum of weather. So we have storms coming in for the next few days.

Temperature changes can be wild too–highly fluctuating–from hot to cold, cold to hot. This morning I expected cold like it’s been, but nope, it’s hot. Well, warm. But not cold. And it’s going to be hotter, well, warmer, not cool later today.

It keeps me on my toes though. I HAVE to look at the weather report, just to get a ballpark idea. Because, as we all know, weather reports sometimes aren’t all that accurate. It’s great for changes in stories too–when the weather turns bad, or really nice. Characters have to adjust to the changes too. And it can make for great conflict.

Think of the ship breaking up in a storm. No shelter. A sunny, breezy day. A cold, rainy, blustery day. A foggy dark night. A Highlander in a kilt. *sigh* Got to get back to the story.

So this morning, we had major fog. We had it a couple of days ago, but I was busy and didn’t have time to photograph it. But methinks, wouldn’t it be fun to try and photograph the fog and Christmas lights???

And so at 4:45 this morning, that’s what I was doing, after I took the dogs out. Most everyone had their lights off, so I only had mine and one of my neighbor’s and another’s across the street to capture in the fog. Christmas lights are pretty. Fog is pretty. It was fun capturing them together.

Off to work on a bear and My Highlander. I’m halfway through edits, but still finishing the book too! Picture the Bubblegum Bear (in blue and purple) in Blue Rainbow’s larger size, the big one lying on his back. 🙂 <3 That’s what I’m currently working on. Well, I cut it out….

Hope you have an excitingly wonderful day! Mine is going to be excitingly busy.

Color and Uncolor

Color and Uncolor

flags1 (427x640)

Oh, I know, some will say there is no such word as uncolor, but I couldn’t call this a black and white photo because it has a hint if blue, that I think makes it even more interesting, don’t you?

And uncolor isn’t exactly right because aren’t black and white and blue colors?

Maybe I should call them by moods. The first is spring in a cloudy, stormy, burgeoning colorful sort of way–as the trees are beginning to leaf out and the flowers are blossoming, and the white clouds and blue sky are ever present in the unsettled weather of the season.

The second is the darker side of spring–the threatening thunderstorms, winds, and hails.

And so there you have it. Life-giving Spring and Moody, Threatening Spring in all its wonder.

Maybe you wonder why I’m philosophizing so much about…stuff.

I’m stuck on my manuscript.  And I’m not going to let it get away with it.

So I will see interesting things in other stuff until I can burst forth and write scene after scene to hopefully delight everyone who reads them. Even so, I’m at 33,000! 57,000 to go!

Have a lovely Thursday. I’m late! I’m late! The week is slipping away and so has my muse.

Off to capture it!

Storms!!

I love storm clouds. I think it’s because they bring refreshing rains, break up a boring sky-scape, add conflict, and bring change. While we were in Savannah, we had storms every day.

But even on the flight out, we witnessed some humongous storms also over Texas.

Some of them were really quite impressive.
Storms over Texas, Aug 2013 (800x533)

We hurried back to our hotel while the storms gathered. They’re very fast moving so we just reached the hotel when the rains began to come down in a deluge.

AAD Conference, 2013, Savannah 077 (800x403)Every day and night we had storms on and off, lightning, thunder, and had to take a taxi to reach the Pirate’s House even though it wasn’t too far to walk to, but it had just started to pour.

What about you? Do you love clouds?

And a new release! Storms in this story too!!!
