Blue Light is Healthier

When I’m researching, I find all kinds of weird things.

Did you know that if you are a morning person and get up early and go outside into the “blue sunlight”, so called for the clearer blue of morning, even if it’s cloudy, it’s good for: staving off depression, makes you feel better, that those who are early morning blue light risers are often thinner?

This was taken in the morning at the Arboretum as I was trying to capture the picture of the jet trail across the sky.

Well, you know how it is with research. Who knows if it really is true.

But supposedly, orange light is the late afternoon light, more intense until the sun begins to set. And it’s not as good to aid against depression, etc, etc, etc.

Sunset boost (500x333)

So I went out in my blue light this morning and fed the birds. I usually wait until it’s a little later because I’m waiting for it to warm up, even though I get up early.  I don’t have issues with depression, so maybe it’s because I let in the blue light in the morning? I didn’t feel any thinner going out in the blue light to feed the birds though. I did see some flowers and I wanted to take a picture. A bunny bounded out of the shrubs. I went back in and got my camera and saw a second bunny sitting under the flowery shrubs I was going to photograph.

I think they are breeding like rabbits! Bunny and flowers (576x640)

But as to the blue light/orange light study? it’s food for thought!

Are you a blue light person or an orange light person?

Is this all silly or what?

Hey, I didn’t do the research! 🙂

Some Days are Meant to be Orange

Rose Colored enhancement (800x533)
I don’t grow these, though they are beautiful and I wish I did! This was a Mother’s Day bouquet of roses, and every time I see this picture, the flowers long gone, I’m reminded of these beautiful flowers and how important it is to capture the memories and keep them close to our hearts forever.

Okay, okay, so I’m a romance author. What do you expect?

Orange means warmth that chases away the gray days (we have another today), and so I wanted to share another warmly orange picture of a gorgeous Texas sunset.

And that famous shot I took, not that it was famous, but for me, it was, of the supermoon while I was flying home from a conference in Colorado. This is over Texas. Again, whether it’s the moon or the sun, it’s basking in a warm orange glow. Oh, I know, scientists have all kinds of scientific terms for stuff like this, but all I care about is the warm glow. 🙂 It’s a blog about orange, after all.

Some might say this is a red bear, but she really is orange.

And well, yes, the Highlands basking in an orange wolf sort of warmth. Orange is associated with warmth and creativity, sexuality, passion, and harmony.  If you wear a lot of orange, it shows you’re outgoing, busy, bright, courageous. Ironically, not really reading up on what the color meant, I have a character in Deadly Fortunes, who wears bright orange and she’s outgoing, vivacious, and lots of fun.

Heart of the Highland Wolf

It’s a matter of a pride…and a matter of pleasure.

Some colors are us. Orange isn’t mine. But I still love it for fall and for Halloween. Orange is a season–a change from hot, hot, hot here in Texas, to cooler weather. So though it’s a warm color, it signals cooler weather.

How do you feel about the color orange?

A Crescent Moon on a Texas Winter’s Night

Moon on a Texas Winter's Night

Do you ever just take a moment and look at the stars in the sky? Or at the sunset? The moon? The world around us, day or night? I decided, now that I’ve moved my desk where I can see out the window, I need to have a bird feeder by the window so I can watch the antics of the birds. sunset and clouds (800x573)

My road runner continues to hop around my windowsills when I have the blinds closed. But I only rarely get a picture of him before I scare him off. 🙁 Then again, what if I had bird feed out for the little birds and the road runner wanted to eat them. Meals on wings. Not what I wanted to picture at all.

I finished tons of deadline projects, which means I have to get caught up with chores, and then, it’s back to working on Jaguar Pride. I have 29,000 done. 51,000 words to go! 🙂

If you put bird feed out for birds, what are you attracting? I’ve had hummingbird feeders before, but the problem is they attract yellow jackets and they’re already a nightmare out here, so can’t have that.

Have a terrific Monday! 🙂

The Storm Before the Rain…

storms sunset (800x533)

We had rain! It was showing 0%! And rained hard for about an hour. More to come.

This picture was taken at sunset with the storm clouds sitting there as pretty as a picture and the setting sun coloring it a soft orange.

Tomorrow, I’ll show off a cloud with a hole in it. Clouds fascinate me, can you tell? But some are much more fascinating than others.

I’m halfway through writing A Highland Wolf Christmas for next year’s Oct release and it’s the downhill slide now! I love that when it happens. I have to start thinking of coming up with THE END, and thinking of all the loose ends I need to tie up. 🙂

Don’t Believe Anything the Weatherman Says…

storms 001 (800x533)

Oh, I know it’s not their fault that the weather doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do. We were so looking forward to a week of rain, but it keeps slip-sliding away. Still, some days have a projected higher percentage chance, so maybe…

I won’t hold my breath. Still, this was what was brewing last night. Pretty impressive, eh?

I’d thoroughly forgotten we even had a chance of storms, until I saw these.  I watered on Wednesday, figuring the new plantings still needed water even if it rained on Saturday. Hmm, maybe I should water again? Wash my car? Schedule a picnic? And see what happens then!

Maybe it’s like the watched teakettle. If I quit watching the weather, the rain will come. 🙂

Sunset in Texas & the North Star and the Moon

Oct sunset, moon, north star (800x748)

Note there are other specks of stars surrounding the moon and North Star.  The sky is filled with stars this morning and I tried to capture them with my camera but it’s only showing blackness. But I loved seeing the Dippers in the early morning darkness. Ever go star gazing?

What do you see?

Texas Storms and Sunset Magic

Hot Sept Storm Clouds Central Texas original (small)

It’s hot, hot, hot, and all sun, so I was surprised to see the storm clouds when I went out to get the mail!

And the beautiful sunset! I, of course, had to run back in and get my camera.  Top picture is the original before doing anything to it. 🙂

Then I had to play with the pictures. 🙂

And here’s what I came up with!

Hot Sept Storm Clouds Central Texas original vivacious

From hot to cool, don’t you think??? Here’s another I didn’t change because the dumb wires were in the way, but I loved how dramatic the picture looked with the sun’s rays against the clouds.

Hot Sept Storm Clouds Central Texas 005 (800x698)

Okay, and that’s enough sunsets and cloud gazing, wishing those storms were going to dump rain on us and cool things down!!

Have a super great day! Back to writing!
