Brrr It’s Cold out There!

I reached over 4,000 words yesterday–76,000 to go, and man, we had a 40-degree drop in temperature and it was rainy all day. It was nice, really. If I’d dressed warmer. I kept thinking it was going to warm up! With a rainy day and blustery wind, it was chilling! I must look at the weather forecast more often.

These are pink gerbera daisies (filled with rainwater), yellow coreopsis, and red ranunculus (buttercup). What’s neat is that they’re all perennials. Like my stories, they keep coming back, keep growing, and are beautiful. Well, at least the flowers are. lol

It’s still cold! But I bundled up better today. The dogs won’t go out without me and I’m rushing them to do their business. At least it will warm up soon, and it isn’t as cold as the blue north. I think my friends in Minnesota and Chicagoland and all those other cold places won’t ever get out of the deep freeze. Sending warm wishes to melt the snow!

Rainy Day Brings April Flowers!

Well, baby had the stomach flu and an ear infection while I was taking care of her. So other than playing with her, feeding her, and getting her to sleep for 4 1/2 hours during two naps on my lap for the day, we didn’t go anywhere like I’d planned.  Hope I don’t catch it!!! She still had her shots, but she’s on antibiotics now too.

Today, have to get back on track with writing. It’s a really neat vampire day, light rain, dark skies, took some pictures of flowers that flowered while baby was here, but couldn’t capture them yester.

Yellow daylily, red Asiatic lily and peach roses that turn pink.

Before…After

I love seeing before…after pictures of change. In the first picture of the burford holly, I had transplanted them from under the front window because the builder had those and Indian hawthorn planted there–each that get about 4 feet tall and wide. The holly can get to 6 feet. It would have been a constant trim job. I like easy maintenance.  I used to plant penta flowers between the holly, but there’s no room now! Hummingbirds and butterflies love them so I’ll have to find a new place to plant the annuals.

The puppies were eating the birdseed. Not allowed, but when Momma’s busy with taking pictures….

The other was the rosebush and look how big it’s gotten! I’m still working on the area next to the fence. The soil isn’t great, so I need to amend it more. The drift rosebush there always stays pretty small.

Baby is here and “furniture walking.” Which means watching her trying to get into everything.

I reached 2,000 yesterday on SEAL Wolf Surrender. Seventy-eight thousand to go. It just starts at a word, and then goes from there.

Okay, got to get busy with baby. Have fun!!!!

Moonology

To me, this is a blue moon. But that means the second full moon in the month. Still, this is a blue moon to me. Did you know there is also a black moon? I didn’t! We have one about every 19 years and the last one was this year! It’s when we have no new moon! And that happened in February, then in January and March, we had two new moons! This doesn’t happen in all parts of the world. So don’t worry if you missed it, like I did. Since you didn’t miss anything.

For me, writing wolf romances, moonology (writer’s license to create words out of the blue)…is important to my stories, and here, I have a new interesting note to use for a future story. If the wolf has a lot of human roots, then he or she can’t change during the new moon, so they have a reprieve. But if there is no new moon? Or there are two new moons? Changes the story.

Okay, off to work on the new story. I’ve had one major thing after another to do and haven’t been able to work on it–but yesterday, I took a whole day off to play Divinity Original Sin 2, a game I got for Christmas and haven’t been able to play at all because of deadlines. I didn’t realize my thief character in the party, as an elf, can eat corpses to learn about the person’s past, ewwwwww. My son and DIL were playing the game too, and her character is an elf also, and she was doing that. He kept telling her not to do that. lol 🙂 <3 Anyway, he told me that last night and I realized I have an elf character too. Will I do it? Once, probably, just to see what happens. lol My ranger (hunts with a bow), is human, no eating corpses. Whew. In my Shadow Elf teen book, elves do not eat corpses either. Ewwww.

Miniature Roses Remind Me of…

My mother and Mother’s Day. Every year I would get her some potted miniature roses for Mother’s Day and some for me. Every year, we lost them. This is the first place I’ve ever been able to grow them, and this is the third year for them. They are finally really taking hold! They are beautiful, and they remind me of my Mother. 🙂 <3

Between Birthday Parties, Easter, Jury Duty and…

I missed posting a blog for a couple of days!

I wasn’t selected for jury duty. No one with a higher number than about 31 was, and I was 58 out of 60. It might have been because I changed my original date of April 15, to April 2nd. The juror number 60 had done the same thing. Juror 59 was a no-show, or I would have asked if the person had done the same thing. In past cases, my number was always too high, and I just called in and they said I didn’t need to show. And another time, I was stationed in the army at Fort Meade, Maryland, so didn’t have to appear in the Texas court. This was the first time I actually had to go in and see the process. It was really interesting, the lawyers presenting their cases, trying to read the jurors, the questions asked, none of which I can share. But, we had an FBI agent and Homeland Security agent show up for jury duty, which I was surprised. They can elect not to come. And of course, they weren’t chosen. 🙂

I was talking to a juror who was as lost as I was, trying to find our way into the courthouse, and she was so funny because she’s Hispanic and said she works at a college, so she couldn’t get away with saying she didn’t understand enough English. She asked what I do and I said I was a romance author, and a lady across from us got really interested and is going to buy some of my books. lol So it wasn’t a totally wasted day. And I did run by Barnes and Noble and autographed my books at the Woodlands Mall too!

I was excited that my photos of baby for her birthday and Easter, who was moving around like crazy, came out so clear this time, with no blurred arms, legs, etc!!! It looks like she’s posing for me in each of the shots, nice and still, even though that’s impossible with a one-year-old. lol All due to setting the camera at f3.2 instead of around f1.4, and keeping my shutter speed at 250s, ISO I think around 160, and putting as much light on in the room that I could.

I also finished edits and turned in Her Jaguar Protector and all the materials’ request, which will be the pitch they make to sell the book to stores, and what they’ll use to create the cover. Speaking of which, Billionaire Wolf Christmas’s cover should be coming soon too.

So now it’s time to write the SEAL wolf story. But first, I have to take care of the baby!
