When Finishing One Goal is Impossible…

Switch to another. Really. Do it. Don’t say, okay, do a little happy dance, because you can’t accomplish the one goal in just that instant, or pull out your hair… jump on another goal you need to accomplish! You’ll feel better. Really. You’ll get something else done.

Can you tell I’m a workaholic? Well, and have so many deadlines. If I didn’t, I’d goof off more. Maybe.

Late yesterday afternoon I was near the end of proofing Phantom Fae. I was soooooooo close to the end. I wanted to finish it and send it off to the narrator so she could update it. I wanted to be able to relisten to the changes and approve it, pay her, and have another project hanging over my head–finished, done, completed. Because I have a stack of other projects I HAVE to get done. Soon. On deadline.

So what does it do? Storms. Thunder. Lightning. Pouring rain. The works. My computer kept flickering on and off, but I was so desperate to finish. I finally finished, went to send her the final changes, no Internet.

Okay, so that’s fine. I have 8 bears stacked up waiting for me to work on them. Though I was multi-tasking when I was listening to the audiobooks, jointing, then stuffing bears at the same time.

But I still had a ton of work to do on them. Still do. But they’re getting closer to being done. This morning, still trying to get the one book finished up to approve. The narrator hasn’t pressed a button to allow me to approve it yet. The other is DONE. And this morning, I’m working on marketing materials for one of the books I need to write. Still clueless about the other, but I’m making some headway on this one. 🙂 But wait, what color was Everett’s eyes and hair? And will the missing cub be a female or male? Always the questions.

Have a terrific TGIF!!!

I’m off to have some more fun with goals. What about you?

Oh, and news!!!! For the first time ever, two of my wolf books are going into audio! Can’t wait!!!

Have a super Saturday! Back to the world of wolves! 🙂 She-Wolf is the 2nd book of the 4 book contract. If I have time, I’m supposed to write the Wolf in Billionaire’s Clothing. And then Jaguar Jingle Bells. They’re all on the schedule, but my editor wants Jaguar Jingle Bells no matter what if I fall behind for some reason. 🙂

New Cover Reveals!!!

Kissing the Highlander final

First, I love this cover by Vonda Sinclair! And His Wild Highland Lass is the novella I’m working on for it. The anthology is a set of 5 prequels to stories we already have out.

I had a breakthrough on my story this afternoon. Not breakdown. But breakthrough. 🙂

And so I’m hoping to finish writing it in the next couple of days. Or by the weekend. It’s at 18,000, shooting for 23,000.

This anthology will be out in Feb.

Then, I’m working with a couple of other talented authors and this is the beautiful cover that was created by Heather Newbury Almendarez.

These are Greek God contemporary comedy romances. It should be out about July 9.

Can you say beautiful? I mean about the cover!!!

And a couple of reviews. Loved the reviews and had to share!!!

This one was for The Highlander audiobook!

Refreshing and fun to read!

Terry Spear is one of many authors that writes about shifters. She is also one of my favorites! This month she released Silence of the Wolf “Heart of the Wolf” #13 another great shifter series. Check out my review!

4.5 Wolf Stars!!
Silence of the Wolf is book thirteen in Terry Spear’s Heart of the Wolf series. Terry takes us back to Silvertown territory where Darien, Jake and Tom run the pack and town. We get mystery, adventure and passion.

I really enjoy Terry Spear’s written style the ease in which it flows. How I can just get pulled back into her wolf series! I love the pack dynamics created in this series. They center on family, doting on the young and welcoming of others. The characters always complaint each other and I enjoy seeing characters from previous books make an appearance.

Just drop by Angela’s site to enter for a chance at a book, and have fun!

Next up is The Highlander just came out in audio! I knew it was supposed to be available soon, but just learned it’s already out! So here are the links!

Anora, the shepherdess, finds a half-naked man in her bed, so what’s a woman living alone in a cottage in the Lowlands of Scotland supposed to do? Prod him with her pitchfork to chase him off! Only the man is not just a traveler seeking her bed for a rest-but a wounded Highlander, who fights back, swinging his sword! Niall MacNeill is searching for a Frenchwoman of nobility to escort to his cousin’s castle for safekeeping, when he and his friend, Gunnolf, are attacked by another Highland clan, seeking the same woman. The other Highlanders wish to sell her to the highest bidder-English or French-it does not matter. Niall takes refuge in a sheepherder’s cottage to heal up from his wounds and discovers the shepherdess taking care of him may very well be the woman he seeks. He has no intention of doing anything but what his cousin requests of him-ensure her safety on their way to Craigly Castle-but when the lass so bravely wields her pitchfork at him, he is thinking of other, more interesting possibilities.

Okay, and third, the 200 year old skeleton. You know I write urban fantasy, right???

Well, I’m trying to learn how to remove the skeleton from the lake without the sheriff’s department getting hold of it. 🙂

Research can be fascinating. I learned about how hundreds of cars were being removed form lakes–really sad, from joy riders, to those filing insurance fraud because they couldn’t make car payments, to some that held human remains and would solve some cold cases. It’s amazing what gets dumped in the lakes, rivers, etc.

But divers found a 10,000 year old skeleton of a boy in an underwater cave and it appeared it was a “burial” of sorts, but the bones were really well preserved.

No wonder it’s taking me so long to write this book. 🙂

But it’s fun doing the research too. 🙂

Off to write and… research. Happy TGIF!!!

Oh, any Underwater Criminal Investigators with specialties in underwater body and evidence recovery out there?

Are You Ready to Listen to a Book?

Do you listen to audiobooks?

When I drove to work, I listened to them on the way there and back home, on trips, painted a whole room listening to one and was ready to paint the whole house, love to hear a book when I’m unable to read one or do anything else.

I just finished proofing and then approving The Shadow Elf (YA), half way done with proofing In the Dead of the Night, and have finished Forbidden Love and Demon Trouble Too (YA), both in review right now.  The Winged Fae, The Highlander, Huntress for Hire, and The Trouble with Demons are in process.

So I’m off to proof the rest of In the Dead of the Night, and once the narrator makes the necessary corrections, I can approve it, send a check to pay her, and then it’ll go into review. Once it’s done with the review, it’s available for the listening public. So much fun!

The great news is I have some review copies!!!

Vampires on the Rise

Even vampire bears! All my stories have humor in them, vampire romantic suspense included. So why not a vampire with a fancy coffin, just for Halloween?

Not that my vampires ever sleep in coffins, mind you. They are not the undead. I leave that to zombies, which are not in my stories. They have heartbeats, eat and drink (a little blood too), and have hot bodies. I just couldn’t imagine a non-vampire getting hot for a cold dead thing, so my vampires are living, breathing humans that were changed by the Black Plague, just as some humans were who became hunters of the vampires. They have the same strength, but not the bloodlust.

In any event, the playing field is well-matched that way.

Speaking of bloodsuckers, one was trying to bite me the other night. A bloodthirsty female mosquito. I was trying to write on Guthrie’s story, and she landed on my wrist to take a sip. My vampire hunting genes took hold, and I tried to kill her. I think I missed. But she didn’t come back for another slurp. *sigh*

I guess my hunter skills are a little rusty. Need to work on that.

Than I was outside watering and ran into him! Never seen one here before. Just the little tiny lizards that run all over my house. Inside and out. This is a Texas spiny lizard. Okay, so I have lizards on the brain. Right? I’ve had them crawl up my pants leg when I’ve been writing, scurry across my feet, just all kinds of things.
huge lizard 004 (551x800)

So I’ve settled down to write after I finish watering and I’m working away, it’s getting late and something crawls up my leg. Natural reaction: brush it off and then look to see what it was. Cricket maybe? Been finding a bunch of them in the house–dead. Good.

But I’m thinking one of the little lizards. It’s getting really late and need to go to bed. So shut things down and start walking to the bedroom and feel something rough between the sole of my foot and my flipflop. I kick it off and off runs a scorpion. Now deceased.scorpion 003 (800x780)

I can’t believe he crawled up my leg, I brushed him off AND he somehow got between my foot and my flipflop as I was walking and I DIDN’T get stung. When I lived in Oklahoma, I was stung a number of times. HATE those things.

They are way scarier than vampires.

Okay, I am EVERYWHERE today with giveaways:

Casablanca

Lady Scribes

And one other place, but not posted. Will try to update later when it is. 🙂

I have audiobook review copies of the following: The Accidental Highland Hero, Highland Rake, Taming the Wild Highland, Bound by Danger, The Dark Fae (teen), Kiss of the Vampire (teen), The Deadly Fae (teen). The caveat is that you haven’t received a free book before through audible. But if you haven’t and you’d like one, it’s yours!
