Blue Jay A’ Courting…

Blue jay in courting, wins spread (640x427) (2)blue jay displaying feathers for female (640x490)He did a beautiful full wing and tail spread, showing off to the female. Only he couldn’t last at it, and then leaned against the fence. I will probably never be able to catch such a beautiful sight ever again, so it was really wonderful seeing this!

The Tail Feathers First

blue jay 001 (640x427)Okay, so I’m having fun photographing different birds that come into the yard. I’d seen a male blue jay and female the other day, but not long enough to photograph. So this one landed on my bird feeder and I couldn’t get him there either. The bird feeder is too small for him. But when he landed on the oak tree, I thought, great! All tail feathers. But at least he turned a little so I could see his face.

blue jay 016 (640x622)I took a lot of tail feather pictures before he turned sideways and gave me a really good shot.

blue jay 018 (614x640)And then a fun shot of him flying off.

The Viking’s Highland Lass was uploaded to all the sites. Itunes should be available soon for preorder. Amazon has a glitch for their previewer, so I’ll have to check it out again tomorrow. I’m now working on the edits on A Very Jaguar Christmas, and then back to Golden Fae. 🙂

Have a super wonderful day!!

Do You Have Your Book Yet?

SEAL Wolf in Too Deep, of course. 🙂

If you have it, hope you’re loving it and you can’t put it down to eat, or sleep, or anything. 🙂 That’s always my goal. What if you started to read it, set it down to fix dinner for your family, horrors,  and never picked it up again? That would be horrible!

So I had a “new” bird at the feeder. The tufted titmouse. Isn’t it cute?

On the feeder

Hey, look who's coming to dinner!

Hey, look who’s coming to dinner!

Can’t you just see their expressions? The titmouse is watching from the other feeder. The sparrow has turned his head to look. The other sparrow has his landing gear down.

Joining me?

Joining me?

The gold finch is leaning down to talk to the one joining him, and the titmouse is watching the whole affair.

Is that feeder better?

Is that feeder better?

Since none of the birds are coming to his feeder, the titmouse decides to check out the other. He has made kind of a jumping leap.

Yep you can just see the story unfolding. Speaking of which, I’m over halfway done on Loving the Silver Wolf. 37,000 words to go, but that’s progress!

Okay, off to edits. Have a super great day!

Bird Feeder Station

Bird Feeder Station

Bird Feeder Station

The wrought iron scroll work is from the old house, as is the bunny feeder. The shepherd’s hook and two feeders are new. And that’s my bird feeder station. I had to move my monitor, clean the window, and get ready to take pictures. Nothing’s happening. LOL

I remember doing this at the old house, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and nothing happening. Then all of a sudden, I had everything, cardinals, road runner, bluebirds, doves and tons of other birds. Oh and a hawk that wanted to eat all the birds. But this time, the birds were coming to visit before the feeders. So now, I’m ready for them.

But in the meantime, I need to write.

Have a great Sunday!

The Tame Wild Birds of Scotland

Is the title an oxymoron? My daughter told her friend once that what she said was an oxymoron, and her mother got mad at her for calling her that.

Then my daughter had to explain what oxymoron meant. But truly, these are wild tame birds of Scotland! 🙂 <3

Okay, back to writing. I had to run errands most of the day and didn’t get to do what I needed to do as far as writing goes. So tomorrow through Sunday, no more goofing off.

Have a love day!

Fun with Photographing Cardinals

cardinals 069 (640x427)female on chair mohawk (640x427)female on basket below peanuts (640x427)

The female was sitting on the seed plate, the sunflower seeds all gone. But she was sitting there as if waiting for me to bring out the seeds.

female at feeder (640x427)female on seed plate (640x427)

Then she went to the feeder.

To the chair.

Then discovered the new suet/peanut/sunflower seed feeder overhead. She was up there and gone so fast, I was only able to get one shot that wasn’t really clear. She hasn’t been back since, at least while I’ve been watching. The male was looking for the seeds on the patio. I put those down there for some of the birds that like to eat them off the patio. The other feeders, the finch one is empty because I don’t have any finches. And so none of the birds ate the seeds. I finally poured it out for them. The one below that similarly can remain filled for months and not be touched. So the like the simple plate with the seed on it. The reason it’s broken? The wild cat that roams the area knocked the table over and broke that and a decorative planter I had sitting on there. 🙁

And that’s my fun with photographing cardinals.

Back to writing…

Have a super day!

A Conversation Between Sparrows & Morning Sunrise with the Sunflowers

birds, what do you think (640x427)See how they have a pleasant conversation before they chow down?

bires, lets eat (640x427)

And then there’s no time to talk.

sunflowers at sunrise (640x427)

Now it’s time to start the day.

I nearly missed this. Every morning, no beautiful sunrise, and this morning it was even more brilliant than this. Ran the puppies inside and ran back out with the camera, but the sunrise was already fading. Still, it was interesting with the sunflowers looking on, don’t you think?

Have a great one!

The Ugly Duckling–What if the Tale was Reversed??? The Ugly Swan???

Everyone knows the tale of The Ugly Duckling, right? Poor Swan is big and gangly for his age as he swims among his brothers and sisters, cute little ducks. Give me a break. When is a swan not beautiful?

Oh, yeah, I know the whole not fitting in business, but look at your reflection in the pond, you big beautiful bird! I mean, really, the story should have been about the poor duck. What if a baby duckling thought he was a swan? Only he was always too small and couldn’t keep up with his beautiful brothers and sisters?

But when he looked in the water, he only saw he was a duck. And then when he found that he was just like other ducks, he’s like, but I hatched with the swans, why can’t I be like them?

The moral of the story is you’re stuck with what you are. So live with it. No sense in regretting what you don’t have. If you aren’t a swan, make the most of being a duck. And that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it. 🙂 <3

Oh and before I have any duck lovers mad at me, I love all birds, no matter the size, shape, or form, and think they’re all equally beautiful. 🙂 <3 I have a ton of duck pictures too, just saying.

And I’ve got 10,000 words on Taming the Wild Cougar. 🙂 <3

Have a great day! Have to get back to writing about cougars and get my mind off birds…

Wildlife Walk with the Puppies

Walking trail

Walking trail

My son says this is around a 15 mile walking trail. It’s so neat to see things like this in other places–we walked nearly 3 miles, the puppies and my son’s dog pulling us, and then nearer the end, Tanner sat on his butt as if to say, “Enough!”

But they managed to make it the whole way before it got dark and we made it safely to the car before the zombies came out. Maybe I should have said vampires. They tend to come out at night. But it was so quiet out there, and except for a runner and a few bikers, it seemed more like a zombie’s world.

We had a nice breeze, and the sun was setting, so cooler, but it had been over 90 degrees. Really an enjoyable way to end the day. 🙂 <3
