Heavy Thunderstorms!

We have a river flood warning today, no wonder. It rained sometime during the night as I found standing water in a few areas. And it was sprinkling when I took the puppies out, but also looking extremely ominous, lightning, thunder, dark clouds.

Now it’s pouring.

storms in the morning (640x427)more storms an sunrise (640x427)storms in the monring and sunrise (640x427) storms dark (640x427) (2)

And that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. No rain, or very low the rest of the week!

Have a super great Saturday! I only wrote 400 words yesterday. Had to run a ton of errands, and then I worked on 4 Celtic bears. So I’ve got to make up for it today, if I can.

So off to write unless I have to shut down. *sigh*

It’s Raining, It’s Pouring, the Puppies AREN’T Snoring!

Storms (1280x853) Storm cloud puffs (800x533)

Storms the other day. Yes, they were that black, and the strange puffs of clouds below the big storm clouds? I had never seen anything like it so took pictures of them.

Yesterday, it poured at 3 separate times and the last, the puppies were shook up over the thunder, so we moved to the couch where they were fine. Here they are after the storms passed.

Couch Potato Puppies

Couch Potato Puppies

So our newest deal for potty breaks is the puppies are good about telling me they want to go out. BUT, as soon as they get on the wet grass, bugs start hopping about. And then two furry puppies start hopping about trying to catch happy meals. Ugh. Which means, they totally forgot why they wanted to go out in the first place.

And that meant at 3 am this morning, Max HAD to go. Guess what? It was pouring, again. I hadn’t expected that, hadn’t heard the rain, so I was standing out in the rain without a jacket while they FINALLY did their thing.

Now, I’d been checking the weather all day yesterday, and every time it poured, it said we had around 20% chance of rain. Oh, and it was like 90, or at least felt that way and 99% humidity. I felt I was in Florida right after a beautiful storm because it would cool down and heat up right away and then it was like a steamy jungle.

Oh, and, I had a breakthrough on my writing, so in two days, I wrote 10,000 words! Now, if only I could keep up the momentum, but I always get stuck. Even now, I’m like, I could write the end. No, it’s too soon. What do I do next???

🙂  But I’m having fun and that’s the important part!

When the puppies got me up at 3, I couldn’t get back to sleep, so for about 2 hours I clock watched, hate it when I do that, and tried to come up with the next scene in my head. I think I fell asleep, and then my daughter called me on her way to work in south Houston. Roads were clear to drive on. But there went my sleep, which is overrated. I’d rather talk to my daughter.

So today? My word count might not be quite as good! I was checking the weather to see what we are in for today. Only 20% chance of rain. 80% tomorrow. Uh-huh, uh-huh…..

Have a super great terrific TGIF!!!

Loved the Architecture in Charlotte, North Carolina!

Charlotte, NC 002 (640x427)
I love old buildings, but it was really fun to see all these beautiful new buildings–the glass, the designs, really different.
Charlotte, NC 013 (427x640)
I loved seeing the reflection of clouds in the blue glass windows. Or other buildings that were just as interesting in design.

I had to show that the wolves were howling with delight as they enjoyed the city just as much as I did.

 More pictures to come!

But for now, I’ve got to get back to work! I just finished proofing The Ancient Fae audiobook and approved it, and I’m halfway done with proofing Cougar’s Mate and will send changes to the narrator. That’s 3 1/2 more hours to review. And then, it’s time to get back to A Silver Wolf Christmas.

I’ve started it two different ways. I’m not sure I like either way. The beginning is never the beginning, by the way. Oh, sure, sometimes it can be. But often I will write the beginning and decide it’s not hooky enough. That it needs more of a dramatic beginning. And so the beginning becomes the next scene. Because it’s conflictive, and good, but it just shouldn’t be that opening scene. So I need to get past the business of trying to make the best opening and just write the book.

This will make like book 61 or so, because I have others waiting in the wings that I’ve already written, and yet–sometimes, oftentimes I do the same thing each time. 🙂 <3

If you find yourself doing this also, take heart!!! It happens!

Okay, back to listening to Cougar’s Mate. Love it! And can’t wait to share it in audiobook form!

Hope to have 3 more bears finished this week and ship off the other contest prizes on Friday.

Have a super great Tuesday!!

Charlotte, NC 001 (640x427) clouds on buildings

I loved all the glass buildings, and kept thinking what an industry the window cleaning business would have there. Now, if they had men in kilts, that they actually have in Scotland, who window wash, even better!

Speaking of Scots, or in my case, medieval Highlanders, my Taming the Wild Highlander won the Bookie Award for Best Historical Novel of the Year at Authors After Dark!!!

“Her Highland wolves tales are incredible, rousing, entertaining adventures and can be counted on to leave my face sore from smiling. If you are craving a really good paranormal read with SEXY kilted Highland wolves, smokin’ hot chemistry, nonstop action, thrilling suspense, danger, surprising twists and beautiful Scottish settings, look no further than HERO OF A HIGHLAND WOLF!” http://www.readingbetweenthewinesbookclub.com/2014/08/bookreview-hero-of-highland-wolf-by.html

Yes!!!

“Very fun, full of humor, romance, and wonderful characters. You are swept off your feet as if on your own highland adventure. Loved Grant, he is obstinate and knows there is something with Colleen but as any good man who doesn’t want to fall, he crashes and I relished in it. Fantastic read.” 5 Stars https://musingsfromanaddictedreader.wordpress.com/2014/08/08/hero-of-a-highland-wolf-by-terry-spear-book-review-and-giveaway/

If you are a fan of shape shifters then you will really enjoy this book. You do not need to have read the series to read this book even though you will certainly want to go back and read them all.” 4.5 Hearts

I love this review from a “Cat” who loves the wolves. Now that’s saying a lot. Thanks to Cat!
“This was such a fun book! I really enjoyed it. I loved the banter between Grant, an alpha Highlander wolf, and Colleen, an alpha, American she-wolf. It was so much fun to watch them try to one-up the other in order to have control. However, when they finally submitted to their feelings, there was nothing sweeter! There was playful fun, suspense and danger, love and some steamy scenes too! Couldn’t ask for much more!” http://www.reviewsbycat.blogspot.com/2014/08/hero-of-highland-wolf-terry-spear.html

Okay, if you don’t know what the pluses and minuses of inheriting a castle are, just in case you inherit one, you know, this is a must read. And if you are quite sure you won’t inherit one, you might just read up on it in case a friend of yours inherits and you get to visit….often. http://tometender.blogspot.com/2014/08/guest-post-pluses-and-minuses-of.html

Once, I told my daughter that I should write darker, because that’s what was selling. She said, “Mom, you can’t write totally dark. You always have rainbows in your stories.” 🙂 <3 Love her! The humor just creeps in. With my very first book, Heart of the Wolf, I loved that two reviews mentioned my humor.  Humor is always so subjective, and so I never know if readers will see what I write as humorous or not. And I think as I’ve progressed with my writing, I’ve felt more freedom to write more humor that I was afraid would not fly with my publisher. One of my former critique partners was an English high school teacher and she was more of a slapstick kind of humor writer. But when she read mine, she said, “The humor just sneaks up behind you when you weren’t even looking.” I loved that too.

Another wonderful review!!! “A fun read, HERO OF A HIGHLAND WOLF, the fourteenth book in best-selling, award-winning author Terry Spear’s HEART OF THE WOLF series, is a witty, sexy paranormal romance that will have readers laughing out loud.” http://romancejunkiesreviews.com/artman/publish/paranormal/Hero_of_a_Highland_Wolf.shtml

From a really great site! I know, because I got 5 out of 5 fangs, and that HAS to be great, don’t you think????!!!  “This was a great mix between Wolf/ highlander book! I loved every min of it…I loved the writing in this book and the feel of the characters. Not only did you have a great story to read but because the author did such a amazing job telling the story you were able watch it come to life in my head! it was terrific read, and the hot sexy men in kits never hurt!!!” 5 out of 5 Fangs Paranormal Romance And Authors That Rock—–Hey, that’s me!!! http://pratr.wordpress.com/2014/08/05/giveaway-review-hero-of-a-highland-wolf-by-terry-spear/

Another fantastic review! I got all the links while I was in the airplane, and definitely something fun to come home to. This site really knows what they’re talking about, too!!! Can you tell I’M BACK…play evil music here. “[T]the backbone of this story is the relationship between the couple and their antics and interaction won me over! Sword fights, pirates and unusual flags!  Got home from the airport yesterday and they were missing my bag and several others. Argh.  And the AC wasn’t working. Can you think of anyone who would be involved in such mischief? The fae. I know, I know, no one believes that they have that much power, but….

It was 96 degrees and HOT outside, and 87 inside! It was cool in Charlotte and I miss that!

Off to ship Buchanan Clan Bear, Armstrong Clan Bear, Poodle Skirt Bear, MacBear, and US Navy Bear! It looks like Christmas in my car with all the packages!!!

Her Highland Hero is Available!

I’m still waiting for it to show up on B&N, Kobo, and Google Play, but it’s now up at Amazon, All Romance Ebooks, and Smashwords.

In the meantime, well, after I spent all yesterday finishing edits, adding a cover quote, and then last night and this morning working on publishing it, I WAS working on His Wild Highland Lass, the novella. I have nearly 15000 words done on it, was shooting for 20,000, but it will probably be closer to 23-25. Or longer. We’ve decided to go up to 30K if the stories require a longer story to be told. Isn’t that the way?

So I just wanted to pop in to say the book is done, publishing, oh, and for my print readers, it’s also done, and currently in review, so it should be done in a week or so. It takes longer for the print process to finish.

Now that it’s on Amazon, I can start working to find a narrator for the audiobook format!

Hope you are all having a lovely Monday!

It’s going to be a grueling 97 again today. We rarely get these high temps so early, so not looking forward to a really hot summer. Which means I will be working hard to keep these shrubs alive for the season. Only one from last year made it. Then I found a more drought resistant variety and planted that. But it will still need water to make it through its first season. Particularly with these hot, beastly days.

Off to get back to work. If I am not working on the current work-in-progress, I feel as though I haven’t been working. 🙂

Have a lovely day.

Did you get your blue light today? That’s the early morning light that you’re supposed to soak up so you feel great!

Painting between Storms!

Please vote and have a chance to win too, if you haven’t already.

As of last night when I pre-posted this, The Dark Fae was in the lead, which is incredible! Considering where she began. She might not be there by the end of the contest, and I was ready for it to end when I was ahead, but isn’t that always the way???

So if you haven’t had a chance and want to, she’d still love the votes! Because between now and May 31 when it ends, anything could happen. You know how it is, you’re way behind in a game, and all of a sudden you think you’re going to win and somebody else out of the blue does??? If you’re the person out of the blue, that’s a good thing.

I thought I had taken a picture of the wrought iron I had painted too, but apparently not. So here is the before, and the clouds that prevented me from doing much else, then went out again later. I’ll have to take another picture of the wrought iron I did paint for the after picture. But I’m afraid the ALL after will take a long time. I have to do it between violent winds and rainstorms. 🙂 Then it will get too hot and… aren’t I good at making excuses? But I am using about 3 cans a day, so I am getting somewhere with it. I realized I have miniscule black freckles today. So much for the wind going in the right direction.

I love the wrought iron. It makes me feel as though I’m truly within my castle walls. 🙂

It should be illegal to have electric wires above ground. You know, because of the fact that the best shots are always right where the darn electric wires are.

And that’s my stormy day.

Off to write. For the first time, I was able to get my 3,000 word count yesterday, AND a little ahead. Not much, but writing a little ahead, makes me…a little ahead. 🙂

Have a terrific Thursday!!!

Have a great day!

And thanks again to everyone who voted. It’s amazing to me that I moved up to the top. It doesn’t usually happen. I usually make a little headway and fall right back down. So thank you, thank you to all who voted!

Storm Clouds–the Real & the Fantasized

storm with a hole in the cloudshole in clouds fantasy

I thought this hole in the clouds was fascinating, so I quickly took shots of it and then even had more fun with it.

That’s what I do with my writing. I create  fantasy from reality. A werewolf world or jaguar shifters in our world. The myth mixed with the truth.

Like these clouds. The reality is the basis, the fantasy, the added fun.

And an update, The Highlander just released!

Available now, and the print version will be ready in about a week. Looking for a narrator for the audiobook version. Barnes and Noble is still in process. *sigh*

The Storm Before the Rain…

storms sunset (800x533)

We had rain! It was showing 0%! And rained hard for about an hour. More to come.

This picture was taken at sunset with the storm clouds sitting there as pretty as a picture and the setting sun coloring it a soft orange.

Tomorrow, I’ll show off a cloud with a hole in it. Clouds fascinate me, can you tell? But some are much more fascinating than others.

I’m halfway through writing A Highland Wolf Christmas for next year’s Oct release and it’s the downhill slide now! I love that when it happens. I have to start thinking of coming up with THE END, and thinking of all the loose ends I need to tie up. 🙂

Do You Ever Just… Look Around You?

Dark skys bare trees silhouetted (640x427) (2)

I thought this was an interesting view of the storm clouds highlighting the bare branches of winter.

I was reading tips on photography and one of the things that was said was to take unusual views of an object, like instead of taking a picture looking down at a flower, take one from the side. Or from beneath it. I thought that was neat. For flowers, add some water droplets for interest. Maybe don’t take a picture of the whole object, but a special part of it.  I noticed on model photos that I want to use for my book covers, a lot of them have parts of the people cut off. It’s kind of odd. But maybe it’s more dramatic that way in some instances. Not all. I have some lovely pictures of the whole model for some of my covers.

And then if I want to cut off heads, or other body parts, I can. 🙂

Zoo with coyotes barking 074 (427x640)I cut off a lot of bird parts here. *sigh* But I did catch 7 whole flamingos and the reflection of 4 of them in the water. 🙂

Zoo with coyotes barking 031 (427x640)Okay, so the birds would NOT cooperate. It’s not the photographers fault!

Zoo with coyotes barking 025 (640x427)

Hey, it is a cool shot of flamingo reflections right? So sometimes head shots just aren’t important!

Windmill of the Old West

Zoo with coyotes barking 023 (640x427)

At least it looks like it, doesn’t it? Ignore the jet trail across the cloudy sky. 🙂

But if you ignore the jet trail, you can imagine a wolf prowling below the windmill, looking for a snack, a bunch of cowboys are riding the range, herding their cattle, and storm clouds are a’gathering for a nice rainy spell. Or not. Can never tell with Texas weather.

The rattlesnakes are curled up in their dens. And so are the scorpions.

Yep, it’s December in this picture, and no wind’s a’blowing. 🙂

So happy trails on this Friday–we’re supposed to be having storms, and that could mean no Internet for me!
