New Review of Silence of the Wolf by Romance Junkies!

Dottie‘s review

An action-packed paranormal romantic suspense, SILENCE OF THE WOLF, the thirteenth novel in award winning author Terry Spear’s HEART OF THE WOLF series, will sweep you up into the storyline right from the very first page. Tom and Elizabeth are both alphas and there is an undeniable connection between them. Before long, they are heating up the pages as danger pursues Elizabeth. Not only is her family in the area, there is also the question of four brothers who were once part of the pack until Darien killed their father. Are they the ones behind the missing livestock, or is it her uncle and half-brother? Are the brothers back for retribution or for some other reason?

With non-stop action, thrilling suspense, danger, a beautiful setting, well-drawn characters, this story will keep readers guessing right up to the very satisfying ending. The secondary plot of the four brothers also provides additional depth and appeal to the story. Although this is the thirteenth novel in this series, it can easily be read as a standalone. Since the first time I picked up one of Ms. Spear’s books, I have been a fan. She never disappoints and keeps the adrenaline steadily climbing with each book. If you are looking for a terrific story with plenty of the paranormal, mystery, romance, humor and heat, look no further than SILENCE OF THE WOLF. A wonderfully entertaining novel!

Okay, back to work on A SEAL Wolf for Sale. Five-thousand words done, 75,000 to go! 🙂 Seems like a lot, but if I break it down into 10,000 word weeks, not so bad….

New Review for Highland Rake!

Highland Rake, Book 3
Dougald MacNeill takes Lady Alana Cameron to his laird brother James’s Craigly Castle when he finds her roaming the heather on the MacNeill lands. But who has sent her there and why? Her uncle, laird of the Cameron clan, and warring with the MacNeill for years, has made a marriage arrangement with another clan and now that is even at stake.
Having witnessed her father’s death, and even believing he had returned her home when all along he had been dead, Alana discovers she has the gift, or curse, of seeing the newly departed and sometimes those who should have long ago passed over. Her own deceased brother continues to plague her, the rake, and now another, who is very much of the flesh, Dougald MacNeill, has her thinking marrying a rake might just have its benefits. Dougald’s sister, who is one fiesty ghost, has offered to help Alana keep Dougald in line if he thinks of even straying.
But who sent Alana on a fool’s errand in the first place to remove her from the Cameron’s lands and set her squarely in Dougald’s care, and who really killed her father and her brother, and what has it all to do with Alana? Will she and Dougald learn the truth before it is too late?

Yes!!! Lovely review for Highland Rake!
Not all of my Highlander series books have paranormal elements, but this one I had a lot of fun with when Alana, the heroine, can commune with ghosts. Can you imagine if they pestered you all the time, and you had to keep it a secret in medieval times? Well, today, you could pretend to be talking to someone on a cell phone. But back then?

5.0 out of 5 stars Love The Highlanders, March 15, 2014

This book is a delightful mix of things, Handsome devilish rogue of a highlander, Dougald. Our Damsel in distress Alana who can also see ghost which adds paranormal. Murder and mystery. There is a good story to this book.

Lady Alana is lured from her clan. The MacNeill’s find her on their land and take her to their castle. Her rescuer is Douglad MacNeill who has a reputation as a rake. I don’t want to get into spoilers because it will ruin it for you but the romance is hot. The ghosts can be comical sometimes and in with it all they have to solve why Alana’s brother and father were murdered and if some one wants her dead too!
If you like the old Highlander clan books with their feuds and male attitudes you will love this. Terry Spear is a great story teller.

Thanks to Pam, for loving the story!

Debbie’s Book Blog Review

5 Apples!!!

Terry Spear takes readers back to Silver Town in the thirteenth book in the Heart of the Wolf series. Readers of the series will love this very original addition to the series featuring a wolf/coyote hybrid. Spear once again entrances readers with her action packed, romantic writing. This paranormal romance has plenty of suspense and willhave readers on the edge of their collective seats, as Tom Silver, youngest of the Silver brothers finally finds a woman he can’t live without. A great addition to this wonderful series.

What I liked:

Thirteen books into this series and it is still just as exciting and memorable as the every first book. That is remarkable! I usually think that a series needs to end somewhere around ten books because at that point the overall story arc’s are starting to lag. Not so, with this series. The Heart of the Wolf series was one of the very first paranormal series’ that I ever read and I have honestly loved every single book. Spear has a bag of tricks that most author’s can’t even guess at. Because of her military background, her wolf books featuring SEAL’s are fantastic, because of her Scottish background her highland wolf books are spectacular, and because of her impeccable research into wolf behavior and dynamics, every single book she writes about werewolves has a ring of authenticity that is hard to deny. Basically, she’s a phenomenal writer. Whether it’s wolves or fae, or jaguars, she has the write stuff!

Tom Silver has been one of my favorites from the very beginning of this series. He is brother to the alpha of his pack and that comes with a lot of responsibility. He is a protector. He looks after Darien’s interests whether it is in pack matters or business and he even takes on the role as an enforcer in some cases. I was so happy to see him finally get his story. Spear has done such a wonderful job of fleshing out her characters in every book they show up in, that readers by this time, really feel like they know Tom and the kind of woman it will take to make him stand up and take notice. Spear does not disappoint with Elizabeth.

****************

I love this review! One of the things I always really strive for in my books is a uniqueness for each book. They can’t be the same old tired plot, setting, and characters. I’m working on book 16 now!!! So, yes, 14 and 15 have been turned in.

But in each, I have to make them different. When I first started, I would be asked in interviews: What makes this book different from all the rest? And before I write the next book, I do the same with myself to try to make them the most unique story from any other.

Even with the Cougar series, same thing. I wanted something based on what I could envision cougar shifters to be like and worked in their cougar personalities along with their human qualities.

So, I’m having trouble starting A SEAL Wolf for Sale, which is not unusual. Because I have to strive for: the perfect setting, which I had selected and in the computer crash and then having to write Jaguar Pride, I lost my links and the location I had decided on. So I had to go back to the drawing board and find a new location. I have Montana for the story. They have forests, lakes, wolves. 🙂

Now, I have to start with action/adventure/romance/mystery/wolves… all within the first few pages–first meeting, wolf showing early on–to show that wolf shifter part of the equation, but no slow starts. Need conflict.

So I’ve thought of a few different ways to open it, but it’s not working for me. Need something else. Characters have to be heroic. Just all kinds of stuff. 🙂 Once I hit upon the right idea, then I’ll be off and running. But my editor called with edits on A Highland Wolf Christmas. 🙁 And then I got two more bear orders, just got home from a visit to my daughter’s place, so trying to get unpacked.

And the brainstorming for SEAL continues.

Plus, I’ve been contacting reviewers to review Cougar’s Mate. 🙂

And I’ve just put The Dark Fae on sale for 99 cents! It will take a while for it to start showing up at the sale price.

Ever wonder why body parts mysteriously fall asleep? Where you put those pesky keys? Why you stumble over nothing in your path? Welcome to the world of fae…

A hunky werewolf and a beautiful stranger collide in this hot new paranormal shape-shifting romance

Gray werewolf Tom Silver is determined to find the wolves who have been attacking local livestock. While tracking the pack through the Rockies, a blizzard forces him into a remote cabin where he hears a plane crash nearby. When he discovers the sole survivor is a beautiful female werewolf/ coyote shifter mix, bound as a prisoner, he knows it’s his duty to hide her.

Now, they are both at risk as a search ensues for the missing prisoner. Will Tom be able to protect this beautiful stranger while tracking down the wolves responsible for terrorizing the local livestock?

Romantic Times Magazine Review of Silence of the Wolf by Terry Spear

4 Stars

Review: The outstanding and gripping plot of Spear’s latest installment in the Heart of the Wolf series will appeal to paranormal fans, and romance junkies will take delight in the red-hot love story embedded within. Several dizzying twists and turns will keep one gasping for air, and the hero’s raw emotion is swoon-worthy. The characters’ connections are strong and secured through honest dialogue. An all-around great read from beginning to end!

Summary: Half-breed Elizabeth Wildwood never had a family to call her own. Her unusual mix of part wolf and part coyote does sit well with others and leads her into a dangerous situation. Tom Silver is determined to find who or what has been harming the livestock in his gray wolf pack’s territory, but his search is cut short when a blizzard leads him to a cabin in the Rockies to take shelter. He meets Elizabeth, who just survived a plane crash, and learns she has been taken prisoner. Now Elizabeth must avoid her captors, from whom she’s been separated—and who are still searching for her. Tom still needs to track down the assailants of Silver Town, and they both have to deal with the feelings of love they have begun to develop. Jaime A. Geraldi

Romance Junkies Review of Cougar’s Mate!

An action-packed tale, COUGAR’S MATE, the first book in author Terry Spear’s HEART OF THE COUGAR series, is an exciting, suspense-filled contemporary romantic suspense that will keep you captivated right up to the end. The chemistry between Shannon and Chase is off the charts and the adrenaline is at an all-time high. I loved the small town dynamics with everyone pitching in to help keep Shannon safe as they try to find out who is after her and find ways to deal with her problem. Rife with suspense, action, passion, danger and romance, this story is a page-turner and is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. I enjoyed it immensely and cannot wait to read the next addition to this electrifying series.

Aren’t they pretty? I didn’t think the flowers would be in bloom much. Some weren’t, but many were.
Plus, the bees were out and my daughter’s deathly afraid of them, having been stung ten times by them when we were on a Girl Scout trip to a zoo once and it made her ill.
To my surprise, we also saw two snakes, though they had signs all over, warning about them.
And a cardinal also.
Off to a book signing and shopping today. But I wanted to share the links of the places I’m at for the blog tour also!

Turned In! Jaguar Hunt is Finished! No More Edits! Ready for Reading! Jun 2014!

I’ve been absentee for a few days but I had reasons! Don’t you love it when people make excuses??? My dog ate my homework. Well, sometimes my computer does, I’ve learned from past experience. 🙂

But I had to stop and get the horrible, awful, inevitable taxes done. And I had to turn in Jaguar Pride, and finished up Jaguar Hunt edits and turned them in, and I did the proof for Cougar’s Mate, and now the print version is available! And I had to proof Scepter of Salvation one last time before I sent it to the narrator for the audiobook. I’ll do the same with Mage of Monrovia, book 2 in The Magic of Inherian trilogy, worked on Silence of the Wolf blog tour, made three book trailers, one for Silence of the Wolf, The Highlander, and Cougar’s Mate.

Scepter of Salvation

She must retrieve the scepter or the kingdom is lost…

The Magic of Inherian: Scepter of Salvation, Book 1

An apprentice of the mage they had destroyed earlier, now threatens Inherian once again. But when Mexia arrives at Langdon to become school trained, she learns the school will not permit a woman to attend. But she must destroy the mage’s apprentice, and she cannot do so without the training. She must use the magic she has learned to discover a way to defeat the apprentice before it is too late.

Mexia has already done much more than most school- trained mages when she and her companions had gone in search of the scepter of salvation. But now one of the apprentices of the evil wizard they had destroyed, has stolen his spell book and plans to take up where he had left off, and she has to try and stop him.

Mexia believes the only way for her to defeat the mage is to become school trained like he was with the eventual goal of becoming a high wizard–the first of her kind in Inherian. But the current headmaster denies her entrance because she’s a woman. Though if she can get the former headmaster’s recommendation, she may attend.

And that’s the beginning of the trouble.

First, there’s the wizard.
Then, the immovable headmaster.
And then, the circle of misfortunes.
It all goes downhill from there…

When you turn the book in, that’s only the beginning. Then there are first edits, second edits, copyedits, and final proofing. Then when the book is released, you have to get the word out. Why? Because you put all that work into it! That’s why!  🙂 And if you don’t do the promotion, no one else will. Only the really, really big time authors get all kinds of promotion, when they don’t need it.
That’s the way of the world.
So, after it comes out, we have to spend lots and lots and lots of time promoting it.
But wait, edits are coming in on the other 4 books I turned in since then.
And I have a deadline looming for another book.
But I also finished proofing Cougar’s Mate for print yesterday, and listened to auditions for 8 more books that will be narrated for audiobooks by 4 different narrators and offered contracts and was accepted for:

Silence of the Wolf is Available Today!!! Well, Yesterday!!!

It’s finally here! Can you believe my editor only wanted 4 books in the beginning??? But I knew I was gaining wolf pack members. That the more the word got out, the more wolves there were who wanted to join in on the fun.

I’m working on book 16 in the series right now. 🙂  And the wolves are as loved as ever. It does help to have different wolf packs, different places, to really make each book unique and not the same old thing. It’s something I try hard at doing because I know in my own reading, I hate to read a book I feel is just a rehash of another book. Even if they’re years apart, readers will continue to read them and love them, and so we can’t just write another one like that, thinking we can sneak by with it.

Nope. And I wouldn’t think of doing that. That’s why I love creating new stories. But I was reading a book I fell in love with, and then I read another of the author’s, written ten years later, and it had the same opening. LOL. She no longer writes, but I loved her writing style, and I wanted to read more of her books. But it taught me that even if you like a plot device, it’s not a good idea to use it again ten years later. Different genre? Sure. Different world? Sure. But not same world, same situation. Can I use it? Sure. LOL

Thanks for all my fan’s support in making this a long-running series. Through all your wolf love you have made it happen.

This is Tom Silver’s story and much awaited, the youngest of the Silver Bros of Silver Town, Colorado, a wolf-run town. It started with Destiny of the Wolf, and Darien, the wolf pack leader, then Carol, who was a victim in that book, had her own book in Wolf Fever, and then Dreaming of the Wolf, was the middle brother, Jake’s story. So now, it’s Tom’s turn. :)

It’s available at B&N, Books-A-Million, Hastings, Powell’s Books, and Waldenbooks. And more. And also at the online locations listed above.
