The Living and the Dead in Savannah, Georgia

In the old Savannah Cemetery, it’s sad to see so many had died due to a yellow fever epidemic after a hurricane hit the area. But here are some of the creatures who live in the cemetery among the dead.

Cemetery AAD Conference, 2013, Savannah 210 (621x800)

There were two red hawks flying overhead, resting in the trees, calling out to each other.

Hawk cemetery AAD Conference, 2013, Savannah 204 (546x800)

And two baby doves who wanted to take off when I was trying to take a picture of them and not disturb them too much.

Doves AAD Conference, 2013, Savannah 162 (800x533)

And a squirrel who was in a hurry to reach the safety of one of the huge trees dripping in Spanish moss.Squirrel in Cemetery AAD Conference, 2013, Savannah 177 (800x398) (2)

bird's nest (800x533)

And here was a bird’s nest among the green leaves and the Spanish moss, perfect place for a home for the baby birds.

The cemetery was ghostly looking and feeling because of all the Spanish moss, and the story behind the deaths of those entombed there. The ghost meters were going off like crazy, of course. But that’s to be expected because the “ghost” app on the phone is meant to do that. 🙂

More on the cemetery tomorrow!

Ghost Orbs??

Ghost Orbs in front of a wall??? Or just something on the camera. All the other pictures were totally clear.

When we were in Savannah, Georgia, I took pictures of the walls and fretwork in some of the old buildings that were “haunted.” We were on a ghost hunting tour–paranormal equipment, you know–the usual. Ghost light detectors, phones set on ghost tracking where it pops up with words and it doesn’t matter that the words reoccur no matter where you are in Savannah, and you can have a ghost right beside you, it happens with such regularity, you know you’re being stalked. Temperature readers.

Picture of the old building above the restaurant below, view of huge oak trees. (Haunted building)

I mentioned to the tour guide that it was like Jurassic Park. The dinosaurs can’t be kept on a schedule where they appear at regular intervals just for the tourists. 🙂 I’ve witnessed paranormal events, but it was always so unexpected, not something that was “forced.” I don’t think she appreciated what I said. LOL

Anyway, so we had lights that changed colors when “entities” were in the local vicinity, changes in temps–yeah, yeah, so there was air conditioning seeping out of the window of a building right next to the walkway where it was sooooo hot. Hmm-hmm.

Finding ghostly entities with ghost lights.

And yes, the entities came to a particular spot on the floor. They were kids, because guess what? When you raised the ghost alert meter, it would lose the signal. So had to be a kid. Right. Not electrical something in the floor???

But it was fun playing along with Bonnie Gill, as the ghost hunter spoke to all the ghosts and asked them yes and no questions and they answered with red and green lights. Bonnie was playing the game, good cop/bad cop scenario. I was the Doubting Thomas, but still looking for my own ghosts that were not part of the paranormal tour woowoo. 🙂

This was NOT on the ghost tour, and it was an antique shop with a wickedly evil looking Italian bench. Bonnie only got a picture of a haze where the bench should be. The little evil looking figure in the center had green glowing eyes on her picture. But my closeup of him was fine.

But my camera picked up ghost orbs when hers just showed fog. Different pattern entirely from the first picture above at the haunted building showing ghost orbs. And all the rest of my pictures were clear. I always figure something’s on my lenses, but how come everything else was clear? These were the only two pictures that came out like this.

We had a blast!!! I love old buildings, architecture and all the fun cool shops. But Authors After Dark was so much fun too. We had a ball at the Elemental and Vampire balls, super great author panels, loved the YA chocolate bar, Pamela Tyner’s breakfast gathering, just lots and lots of great activities! 🙂 Oh, and Samhain’s ice cream party. And surprisingly, I didn’t even gain weight! 🙂

So what do you think? Ghostly orbs, or just the lighting in the building somehow???

One of the Most Fun Things About Being an Author–The COVERS!

Hero of a Highland Wolf

How difficult can one Highlander be?

For centuries, Grant MacQuarrie and his ancestors have been administering Farraige Castle overlooking the North Sea for a Playfair family, who had left it in their capable hands when the last heir moved to the States. Now, the daughter has inherited the estate. According to the contract, she must live in the holding for a year and a day so she can learn how to adequately manage the castle from across the sea before she can return to America. Grant MacQuarrie, pack leader and chief of the MacQuarrie clan, has run the estates forever and isn’t happy about having an American lass in his way. But when she arrives, he learns she’s a sexy wolf who isn’t at all like her stuck-up, devious father, who hated Grant and his clan.
Colleen Playfair has never been to Scotland, although she has several famous and infamous Scottish ancestors. So when she learns she must live at Farraige Castle in the Highlands for 366 days, she’s excited about the prospect. And a little apprehensive. Already, one Grant MacQuarrie is not happy about her coming. Will the Scots be peeved with her since she’s an American, trying to run things? But she’s got her ancestors’ head for math, geology, and architecture, her father’s stubborn determination, her mother’s ability to make friends, and her uncle’s knack for making people smile, so how hard could it be?

***

Totally had fun with this story. We haven’t lost the MacNeills. They’re intertwined with the story also. But it was fun showing two wolf packs in the Highlands that are actually friends. 🙂

So what do you think? Does he have what it takes to win YOU over?

Ever Have One of Those Days???

IT’S A MONDAY!!!!

I forget that Mondays roll around and well, sometimes, though, it’s not Monday that’s the problem. Sometimes it’s Tuesday, that insists it’s a Monday. Or it’s Wednesday, or Thursday. You get the point, right?

Some days several days can be a Monday.

So today, was totally a Monday. First, computer wouldn’t come on. Finally, finally fixed that, and then Internet wouldn’t work. Did I mention it’s a Monday? And I slept wrong so I have a pain in the neck. You know, the real kind. Not just the pain-in-the-neck Monday where the computer won’t work and my Internet won’t work after that.

Okay, so that’s it for my Monday. The rest of the day is going to be a Saturday. I insist.

What about you? Ever have a Monday that’s all week long? Or on the wrong day? Or heaven forbid, fell on a MONDAY?

I feel like this:

The Trouble with Demons

The good news is I’m at Casablanca’s today with a free giveaway!

Love it When I’m on a Roll!

In writer talk, that means the story just keeps going and I can’t hardly keep up with the characters! I love it when that happens. I wrote 7500 words yesterday! Wish I could do that every day!

But what I’m going to talk about is the paranormal. First, besides writing, I watered a little. Things are burning up. 104 degree temps, no rain, hot, hot, hot, with more to come through September.

So I hosed the stressed plants a little. No rain in the forecast for the next 10 days, which is the same as the last 10 days and will be the same for the 10 days after this.

I decided I needed to take a break from writing, the computer, sitting, and wanted to watch a couple of episodes of Supernaturals.

The AC comes on, I’m getting cold. And I hear this roaring sound. I glance at the window, blinds are all closed, but I can see the shrubs really blowing hard. But it can’t be the wind that’s making such a racket, unless we’ve got a tornado. I walk to another window, peek through the blinds, and it is POURING rain. I don’t do rain dances to make it rain. But I do rain dances when it rains and it’s not supposed to for the next 100 years.

I must water more often.

Have a great Sunday!

I’m off to write some more!

Terry

Coming Up with Story Ideas

Who would have thought being a gate guardian could be so much trouble?
The Trouble with Demons
Witches and warlocks hide their true identities from the rest of the human population, while three teens with demon heritage living with human families, become unlikely companions in a race against time to deal with a demon threat to humankind in their own quirky way.Alana Fainot, a witch and half Kubiteron demon, witnesses a Matusa murder his summoner, and she knows he’ll target her next. Raised by her mother, she has no idea who her demon father is. But when she’s pulled to a demon portal, she meets Hunter Ross, half Matusa, half human, who returns demons to their world, but who’s been poisoned by a Matusa and is more dead than alive. His human mother gave him up for adoption, and he doesn’t know who either of his birth parents are. His friend Jared Kensington, full blooded Elantus demon, less powerful than the Kubiteron, is a whiz at electronics and helps Hunter track demons in the city, but was abandoned by his parents on Earth world for reasons unknown. He’s determined to find help to save Hunter. Alana knows aiding any Matusa is a mistake, but when she learns Hunter is half human, she makes a deal—he protects her against the Matusa who will come for her, and she helps find his dad in the demon world to save Hunter’s life.Often at odds, the three teens work together to stop the plans of a group of Matusa to take over the human race before it’s too late.

 Demon Trouble Too

Alana Fainot is a demon gate guardian, stuck in her last boring year of school. But not for long. Hunter and the rest of the gang show up when her astral form can’t return to her physical form, and she’s at the police station trying to talk her way out of having seen the murderer of a summoner. Hunter always knew Alana was trouble, but his kind of trouble, and he’s not leaving Alana alone again.Celeste Sweetwater, a new kind of demon, joins Hunter and Alana and the rest of the demon guardians in a fight to find a new kind of portal device that can summon several demons at once. But not only that, another Matusa has been unleashed on the unsuspecting human world and the demon guardians must stop him before he wreaks much more havoc. But this time, the police are involved, paranormal investigators pounce on the area, and the whole mess seems to be spiraling out of the demon guardians’ control.

Do you ever wonder how I come up with ideas? Well, in a million different ways. Sometimes from a news report. Sometimes seeing a show or movie and it gets me to thinking. Sometimes reading an adult romance and I begin thinking about it in a young adult way. Or vice versa. I read a YA and I think, wow, wouldn’t this be fun as a sexy adult romance?

In the case of the demon teen series, I had read a cool book, judging for a contest some years back where the woman was being stalked by someone and I think she was part demon. Or he was. Can’t remember. So I thought how cool would it be if I had teens who were partly demons, part humans, just trying to be normal human teens?  Well, one of the boys is full demon, but one of the more good-natured ones. And one of the girls is also a witch. So all kinds of fun.

The Vampire…In My Dreams came from reading just the opening of a book I looked at on Amazon, and it was about two women who were sneaking into a mobile home to learn if the guy sleeping in the bed was a vampire. So in my story, I have where the two girls are chasing the vampire in the night. Only they really don’t exist. Only witches and warlocks do. And they are witches.

Then in Kiss of the Vampire…my mother said I needed to write about vampires going on a cruise and eating all the people. Yes, Mom. I kept telling her I didn’t write horror stories. Romance, Mom. I write happily ever afters. 🙂

And the Fae…well, I read an adult fae book and thought wouldn’t it be cool to write a teen version?

Of course, my stories aren’t anything like the other books. It’s just a kernel of an idea that forms and the whole story/world is something totally new.  That has to do with voice and the author’s own reading habits, life experiences, etc.

So when you sit down to read a book, do you ever wonder where the author came up with the idea???

Have a super Saturday!!! Off to work some more on The Highlander and A Highland Wolf Christmas!

More Cover Reworks!

I’m reworking all my old covers to try to give them more of the look of what the story is about–more drama, if I can, colors that will emphasize them, better font, in some cases. And several of my covers were too small, so having to get larger sized pictures to redo them. Also, making sure that the title and my name can be see in the smaller formats. It all takes time, hours!

But I’ve also been writing on the new book: A Highland Wolf Christmas, featuring Guthrie MacNeill and Calla Stewart. This will be the last story of the brothers. But Heather, their cousin, needs some romancing, don’t you think? And I’m working on The Highlanders, which is a Highland medieval romance, book 5 in The Highlanders series. Sometimes I’ll do that, hop from one book to another. When I can’t think of the next scene, I’ll work on the other.  So far I have 24,000 on The Highlander, and 2,000 on wolf Christmas. I was stumped on the opening on Guthrie’s story as I wanted it to begin with conflict between the her and heroine right off–he has to be wearing a kilt, and I’ve got the setup for the next scene–more kilt-wearing hunks, only human kinds, and more conflict. And then the next scene–well, that’s how it goes.

Jessie’s Review on USA TODAY

“I love cat shifters, so Jaguar Fever was a fun read, and although I didn’t read the first book, Savage Hunger, I understood the storyline, though I will be going back to read the first. Wade (hero) is also hot, very alpha and has a laser focus when it comes to Maya. As with all of Terry’s books, the love scenes are hot and blush-worthy. Her Heart of the Wolf series is also steamy.”

And Sara and I are at USA TODAY also here!

Also was working on a new cover for Goddess in Training. It’s a short novella, but I wanted to show more what it’s about, so I changed covers for the story. What do you think? I’m also working on a new one for the Genie’s Wish. Hopefully, that one will be just as beautiful. 🙂

What do you think? This is only 99 cents at B&N and Amazon, Kobo, Smashwords, etc. so if you want a fun, quirky, sexy read… it’s yours for under a dollar! Cheaper than that Starbucks coffee fix!

In a game of the gods, librarian Lisandra, who has never been loved, is chosen to be the goddess of fertility. The demi-god of pleasure, Assarian is ordered by Zeus to train her in the hallowed halls of Mount Olympus to prove to his wife, Hera, goddess of marriage, mortals and immortals alike only need be physically satisfied to find fulfillment, to which Hera disagrees—all creatures must have love to be whole. ~~~I loved Greek Mythology when I was growing up, but just like with werewolves and vampires, I wanted to see a happily ever after between the Greek Gods and Goddesses and the mortals they toyed with.

Winners for Last Week & What’s Coming Next!

I have over 12,000 written for The Highlander! Just had to get that out of the way. Excited. Need to begin writing A Highland Wolf Christmas also.

The Highlander

She’s the one he’s looking for, but she denies it.

Can’t wait to show off the cover for A Highland Wolf Christmas also. And A Hero of a Highland Wolf! They’re working on them and they’re GORGEOUS.

I’ll be going to the readers’ conference, Authors After Dark, soon in Savannah, Georgia. I’ll be doing a variety of things–taking a steamboat ride, going on a ghost hunter’s tour–using paranormal equipment, attending a vampire’s ball, an elemental ball, and I just learned we have to dress up for a formal event. And I’ll be speaking of 4 panels about historical stuff, paranormal stuff, military stuff and other stuff.

I’ll probably wear something like this for the formal like I wore at the Fantasy, Futuristic, and Paranormal Southern Gothic Ball in Atlanta at Nationals.

You know, the usual stuff! For a paranormal author who is attending a readers’ conference for paranormal types.

Isn’t that fun???

The problem always is–what do you wear???

It’s not your usual–it’s going to be hot out, dress cool and comfortable type of event for a summer visit to a southern state.

Unfortunately, my clothes for one won’t do for another. *sigh*

Unless I was a real vampire and just wore my vampire black evening wear to the formal ball. If anyone wanted to take me to task for wearing the same formal attire, I’d just bare my very real fangs.

Fantasy, Futuristic, and Paranormal Conference, New Orleans. Who says you can’t catch the image of a vampire??? Complements of Bonnie and her special effects camera. Who, by the way, is off to another ghostly adventure. Last time she and I got together, we witnessed the bouncing truck in front of one haunted building in New Orleans.

My elemental costume isn’t dressy enough, or vampirish enough to wear to the formal and none of them are dressed down enough to wear on the steamboat ride or the ghoulish walk through the cemetery looking for ghostly spirits.

And that means–I’m still trying to figure out my wardrobe, hoping I haven’t forgotten everything I’m supposed to bring for other events and such!

In the meantime, I’m back to the blog tour tomorrow and more giveaways to come!

But before that, I wished to announce some winners for this week:

Samantha Corr won an ebook copy of Highland Rake–she was the only one who commented yesterday! Need email.

Denise Van Plew &

lisaguertin can have a copy of an audiobook, your choice, need email.

Winner of the ebook copy of The Dark Fae:
