Paranormal Romance

COUGAR’S MATE is Book 1 in Terry Spear’s Heart of the Cougar series. As a longtime fan of Terry Spear, I was very excited to hear about this new series about cougar shifters. Happily for me, I really enjoyed this book. There is a lot of action in COUGAR’S MATE, but it doesn’t obscure the romance.

At the beginning of the story, Shannon Rafferty is a woman in crisis.Chase Buchanan is the sexy, incredibly sweet lawman she runs into. Chase is a dream.

Chase’s buddies — Hal, Dan, and Stryker — are all great guys and I look forward to reading stories about them in future books. They are all tough, former military types, but they all have a wonderful caring side. I love the way the entire town took Shannon in and supported her like one of their own. The town and the feeling of community and family it provides Shannon are almost equally as seductive as Chase’s charms. COUGAR’S MATE is an exciting paranormal romance with a strong heroine and a sweet, sexy hero!

There is absolutely nothing I didn’t love about Cougar’s Mate by Terry Spear. This is one of those books that grabs you right from the first page and doesn’t let go until the last.

“She’d never felt she was cursed, but what if she was? With three dead boyfriends to her name?”

“Hell, he loved her for all her vulnerability, her sassiness, her caring, everything that made her the she-cat that she was. Somehow, he would save her.”

This book has humor and romance and lots of heart pounding action. I loved every page of it. If you enjoy shifter books, then you will love this book. This was my first book by Terry Spear and most definitely will not be my last.

Instinct told her to run…

Cougar’s Mate pulled me into the story from page one and kept me reading until the last word.

What’s especially enjoyable is Ms. Spears’, slow build up to the physical relationship between Shannon and Chase. It’s not rushed which makes it feel natural. Just when you think things are going Shannon and Chase’s way, trouble rear its head.

During the last part of the story I didn’t want to put the book down so I could continuing reading and see what happened to this pair.

Cougar’s Mate is the first of a new series by Ms. Spears and I can’t wait for book two.

Woohoo!!! Okay, enough dancing around the room, or skipping outside to take pictures. Time to ship books and then get back to the business of writing.

Any plans for the weekend???

Blue Light is Healthier

When I’m researching, I find all kinds of weird things.

Did you know that if you are a morning person and get up early and go outside into the “blue sunlight”, so called for the clearer blue of morning, even if it’s cloudy, it’s good for: staving off depression, makes you feel better, that those who are early morning blue light risers are often thinner?

jet trail (640x427)

This was taken in the morning at the Arboretum as I was trying to capture the picture of the jet trail across the sky.

Well, you know how it is with research. Who knows if it really is true.

But supposedly, orange light is the late afternoon light, more intense until the sun begins to set. And it’s not as good to aid against depression, etc, etc, etc.

Sunset boost (500x333)

So I went out in my blue light this morning and fed the birds. I usually wait until it’s a little later because I’m waiting for it to warm up, even though I get up early.  I don’t have issues with depression, so maybe it’s because I let in the blue light in the morning? I didn’t feel any thinner going out in the blue light to feed the birds though. I did see some flowers and I wanted to take a picture. A bunny bounded out of the shrubs. I went back in and got my camera and saw a second bunny sitting under the flowery shrubs I was going to photograph.

I think they are breeding like rabbits! Bunny and flowers (576x640)

But as to the blue light/orange light study? it’s food for thought!

Are you a blue light person or an orange light person?

Is this all silly or what?

Hey, I didn’t do the research! 🙂

Happy Wolf Day!

Happy Wolf Day

Woohoo, I am in werewolf heaven:

Nobody does werewolf romances like Terry Spear. The romance sizzles, the plot boils, the mystery intrigues, and the characters shine.

I think this was my first introduction to Silver Town. I’ve read about some of the Silver’s in prior novels, but this was my first introduction to the Silver family and I will most definitely be searching out previous books pertaining to them. So trust me, even though this is book 13 in the Heart of the Wolf series Silence of the Wolf is most definitely a standalone novel.

Elizabeth and Tom had so much chemistry it was practically bounding off the pages. There was an easiness about their relationship that made their attraction to each other believable. And while Elizabeth may have tried to play the part of a beta, she was pure alpha which made it all the more interesting when Tom ordered her to do something.

While the romance is divine, what continuously pulls me into Spear’s romances is that mystery and adventure that will have you at the edge of your seat.

Fans of Terry Spear’s will be quick to spot cameos of past characters.

Simply brilliant. Silence of the Wolf is romantic suspense combined with paranormal goodness mixed in with a whole lot of fun. And did I happen to mention the sexy werewolves that abound with in the pages?

Okay, back to my scheduled writing. One thing I will say, when I get a review like this, I’m sooooo much more motivated to write. So thanks to everyone who shares with me how much they enjoy my books!

It does make a difference!

So I’m at 45,000 on A SEAL Wolf for Sale, working on that 50K for the week.

I’ve also been pulling grass. Why is it that grass always grows where you don’t want it to?

Do you have that problem too?

“Will Elaine and Cearnach find time to fall in love amid treasure hunts and attacks from the enemy?

Terry Spear’s A Highland Werewolf Wedding is sexy fun! Elaine and Cearnach are perfect for each other; both are Alphas and act like it. When they first meet it isn’t under the best of circumstances but it is impossible to miss the attraction between them—with each barb they exchange things get hotter.

The scenes between Cearnach’s mother and Elaine are great. The MacNeill’s bring tons of light humor to the story. It’s great to catch up with the family. “Cougar’s Mate is a shapeshifter romance with a twist even I didn’t expect – Shannon is the cougar shift gone feral in an attempt to save her life while Chase is the cougar who shoots her. A rather humorous mixture of escapes, protectiveness and heated moments follow as Yuma Town (cougar town) join forces to try and convince Shannon that staying is in her best interests. I loved this book! Just like all the ‘wolf books that Terry Spear has written, Cougar’s Mate includes the best parts of the feral beasts these people shift into. I’m definitely looking forward to reading book two and getting to know more of the large-hearted cougar shifters!” Review by: Dominique Goodall on April 08, 2014 : star star star star star https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/413454

Do You Ever…

Pick up the wrong thing at the grocery store???

spaghetti, moon and north star 002 (800x533)

I went to pour my brand new milk on my cereal and I wondered why the bottom half of the carton was brown. No, no, no. I couldn’t have gotten chocolate milk. Yep. Got chocolate milk.

One day I was at the grocery store and needed tomato sauce for spaghetti. The brand I get is generic, and they have the same exact label on the can as they do on the can of stewed tomatoes. So you guessed it! I bought stewed tomatoes, which I hate, instead of tomato sauce. This has been a few years ago. I don’t want you to think I do this ALL the time.

But more recently, I did pick up the wrong spaghetti noodles also. It’s the skinny ones, can’t think of what they’re called. It’s like the tomato sauce, in a generic bag and I didn’t see that it was the thin kind.

So what about you? Do you know what you’re buying until you get it home and you swear the fae switched the right product for the wrong one on you?

Yeah, I do too.

It couldn’t be me.

I think I’ll stick to gardening.

Gardens Take Me Away from Internet Woes

Arbor (427x640)

Photo taken at the Arboretum by Terry Spear

A little garden paradise. Everyone needs one.

I was scheduled to be part of a blog party to help with another author’s release and then…

the fae got involved.

I swear it.

It’s the truth.

My computer crashed.

I tried to restart it.

It wouldn’t.

I tried again.

It did.

Now this is 10 minutes out of the 30 minutes I have to be there.

No internet connection.

I try everything.

No internet connection.

I scramble to get my phone and tell the host I can’t be there.

Then I’m back to trying to fix the internet connection.

None. No. Forget it.

Fine.

Next morning, try a bunch of stuff, use my laptop, and there is an internet connection. Just not on my desktop. Live and learn.

The author had similar troubles where she lives. Her internet went out. And in a mess, she had to go to the nearest Starbucks.

So I’m writing on one computer and checking my internet stuff periodically on the other.

Remember how I was supposed to chase my muse?

I didn’t need to.

I just needed to lose the internet.

I wrote 4,000 words today.

And called the internet people, who wouldn’t call back.

So called my son.

He talked me through how to fix things.

I now have internet on my desktop.

My son is my hero.

Everyone needs one.

Cougar’s Mate
Parnormal Romance – Cat Shifters
Cougar’s Mate: Instinct told her to run…

Shannon Rafferty learns that hanging out with the bad boys could be a dangerous business, but hooking up with a cop is even worse. Now she’s on the run, trying to avoid being murdered by his cougar shifter brothers and uncle. If that isn’t bad enough, a deputy sheriff hunts her down while she’s running as a cougar and trying to survive in the Colorado wilderness. He vows to protect her no matter what she’s done. With three dead boyfriends to her name, she’s sure she will be the death of Chase Buchanan before either of them can prevent it. No matter how much she knows she has to run again, he soon holds her heart hostage. But will that be enough to keep them both alive?

Chase Buchanan—as wilderness cabin resort owner, former US Army Special Forces, and part time deputy of the small town of Yuma, Colorado that boasts a love of cougars—is tasked to track down a cougar reported to be hunting human prey. Chase soon learns she’s a shifter, not a full-time cougar, and she’s on the run. When he takes her in, he vows to protect her. After losing his wife and baby to the human kind of predator years earlier, he’s not letting Shannon’s hunters kill her, too. But how is he going to hold onto the wild-cat woman, who is unpredictable at every turn, without losing his heart to her, and then losing her as well?

~ 5 Cougar Stars ~

Cover is awesome and sexy! Very attractive and inviting.

I love it when I find a book I can not put down even though I know I need to; because it’s so late. Cougar’s Mate is one of thous amazing book’s that you just can’t put down until you have finished. What an astonishing beginning to a wonderful new series by Terry Spear. She has created a fascinating world full of fun characters, adventure, suspense and passion. I can’t tell you enough how much I enjoy Ms. Spear’s writing style and the easy flow, the character development and the plot. I am such a fan of Terry Spear and was blown away by her new series Heart of the Cougar.

Now onto Cougar’s Mate :

So many things happen once you open the first page. Ms. Spear throws us into Shannon’s life. She is a strong woman determined to survive. She has made some bad decisions in the boyfriend department as well as had a difficult life growing up which has lead to her not trusting easily and wanting to just be loved, but it always seams to be out of her reach. I enjoyed her strong and feisty personality as well her character development and growth throughout the book.

Chase (fan myself) is a very sexy man with a sad past that will make anyone cry. He try’s to be a loner running his wilderness inn, but all his friends won’t let him. He works as a part time deputy which ends up getting him into an interesting situation. When Shannon and Chase meet for the first time it’s not in a normal way, no that would be to easy. (If you want to know what happens you’ll just have to read and find out.) Oh course all his friends keep bring up how a feisty she-cat got the better of him.

I really loved the Cougar run town of Yuma. We usually don’t see a lot of cat shifter run towns. I found this to be refreshing.  It was also sweet to see how they helped each other out and how very open and welcoming they where to Shannon. The chemistry between Shannon and Chase is off the charts. It grows throughout the book and it’s not until half way through that they finally hit the sheets. I like a story with a great plot and time for the romance to come together; before we are off to the bedroom. I also loved all the secondary characters that are introduced in this book. I am looking forward to their stories and learning more about them. We get suspense, adventure, passion and so much more that Cougar’s Mate will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Note: We get a sneak peek of book 2 Call of the Cougar at the end of Cougar’s Mate, so more is coming. YA!

Color and Uncolor

flags1 (427x640)

Oh, I know, some will say there is no such word as uncolor, but I couldn’t call this a black and white photo because it has a hint if blue, that I think makes it even more interesting, don’t you?

And uncolor isn’t exactly right because aren’t black and white and blue colors?

Maybe I should call them by moods. The first is spring in a cloudy, stormy, burgeoning colorful sort of way–as the trees are beginning to leaf out and the flowers are blossoming, and the white clouds and blue sky are ever present in the unsettled weather of the season.

The second is the darker side of spring–the threatening thunderstorms, winds, and hails.

And so there you have it. Life-giving Spring and Moody, Threatening Spring in all its wonder.

Maybe you wonder why I’m philosophizing so much about…stuff.

I’m stuck on my manuscript.  And I’m not going to let it get away with it.

So I will see interesting things in other stuff until I can burst forth and write scene after scene to hopefully delight everyone who reads them. Even so, I’m at 33,000! 57,000 to go!

Have a lovely Thursday. I’m late! I’m late! The week is slipping away and so has my muse.

Off to capture it!

Reflection

reflection of rock in creek (640x427)

Can you see the reflection? I love seeing reflections of life, catching our world upside down, duplicating, copying, but in a different way.

Do you see where the world ends and the reflection begins?

It’s there, visible, and yet is nearly invisible.

When we saw it, it appeared as though the reflection was not a reflection. Not a mirror of the world at all.

Reflection is the stuff of fantasy.
